  1. "I can't believe I've been in one of those godawful reality TV shows!" grumbled Winston. "The chaps at the Historical Antiquities Club will never let me live this down!"
  2. Indeed so, however in this instance the giant crocodile is just one monster, if a big one.
  3. Right, but then using it at the start of a round would effectively be like a Knight's Sentinel effect?
  4. In Quest #8 it seemed that the bone only distracted for the next person's turn, not the whole party. I would imagine it's immunity from damage, although whether that's also immunity from specials I don't know.
  5. Results of Round Three of the Giant Crocodile battle Knifk vs Giant Crocodile = Damage Guts vs Giant Crocodile = Damage Gorg vs Giant Crocodile = Hit Nerwen vs Giant Crocodile = Critical Hit Dak vs Giant Crocodile = Miss >Sarick vs Giant Crocodile = Special Damage (Second roll to determine which = Tail Whip) The party continue to battle the behemoth in front of them, although this time they don't have Knifk's shield protecting them. Knifk starts the assault once more, approaching with his katana raised. The crocodile is having none of it however, snapping his jaws at the Orc Knight, although his shield protects him from most of the blow (1 damage). Guts incredible streak with a blade comes to an end; as he aims at the lumbering beast with his cutlass, he takes a vicious swipe of the croc's claws across his midriff (5 damage). Gorg, still annoyed at being a crocodile chew toy, plunges his spear into the scaly behemoth's side (9 damage). Nerwen manages to get a very clean hit on the lizard with her hammer (12 damage) Dak's wretched luck with a blade continues as he swings and misses. He's definitely channelling the luck of noted Cleric Maurice Ratibor! Sarick once again tries to use his frost magic, and once again the crocodile lurches terrifyingly towards him. Instead of scooping the snakeman up in his jaws like it did to Gorg, the huge creature delivers a bone-crushing blow with its muscular tail. The battle continues! Enemy: Giant Crocodile Type: Aquatic Monster Level: 5 Health: 105/180 Specials: Tail Whip – The crocodile swings its massive tail around, catching the attacker and Stunning them. Jaws of death - The crocodile captures the attacker in its jaws. They will remain there until the crocodile is killed or another party member pulls them free, sacrificing their own turn to do so. The jaws are very big so up to 3 party members can get trapped at the same time. Note: The special skill has a 50/50 chance of being triggered each time Special Damage is rolled. 6. QM Note - Initially I was thinking that the trapped person would also not have a turn but that would be a big drain on the party's potential damage output against a foe with such high health to begin with, so I will allow the trapped player to have an attack. Also for this battle I will assume Dak fights in the front row as Nerwen said, because of the Sentinel effect this round. Perhaps I should be recording that as a status effect for the party when it happens, just to make it clear. I'm not sure any of the other QMs currently do this? Results of Round Two of the Giant Crocodile battle Knifk vs Giant Crocodile = Hit Nerwen rescues Gorg Guts vs Giant Crocodile = Shield (Mug) Gorg vs Giant Crocodile = Extra Critical Hit Dak vs Giant Crocodile = Damage Sarick vs Giant Crocodile = Damage The party continue to battle the behemoth lizard in front of them. Knifk starts the assault well, clipping the crocodile smartly with his new katana (9 damage). With the giant beast distracted by Knifk's hit, Nerwen courageously runs up to the croc and pulls Gorg free of its fearsome jaws. Guts' amazing streak continues as he dives down and runs his cutlass along the underbelly of the croc for high damage (17 damage). Strangely 17 gold pieces fall from the croc, perhaps caught in its scales as it shuffled along the mine's tunnels. Gorg, wet through with crocodile saliva and hopping mad because of it, stabs the huge creature several times in the foot with his spear (16 damage). Both Dak and Sarick try to press the attack, but face a barrage of slashing claws. Knifk acrobatically jumps in front of these blows and deflects them with his new Mockthril shield, giving the two a goofy thumbs up afterwards. The battle continues! 7. I got your name wrong one time in all those battle orders! Sheesh!
  8. Cirencester Tesco has a couple of Pharoah's Quest sets at half price: 7325 Cursed Cobra for £13 and the small set 7305 Scarab Attack for £2.
  9. Yay, my giant crocodile ate someone!
  10. QM Note - I've gone with Sarick's initial attack rather than Nerwen's recommendation for him as I wanted to get a round done before I went to bed. I hope this is OK. Results of Round One of the Giant Crocodile battle Knifk vs Giant Crocodile = Shield (Sentinel) Gorg vs Giant Crocodile = Special Damage (secondary 50/50 roll = Special Damage 2 - Jaws of death) Dak vs Giant Crocodile = Damage Guts vs Giant Crocodile = Critical Hit Nerwen vs Giant Crocodile = Miss >Knifk vs Giant Crocodile = Damage The party set out to fight the terrifying crocodile, the underground cavern echoing with the sound of battle. Knifk is up first, as ever, and with his shield held high protects the party from damage next turn. Gorg follows his Orc comrade, taking a run at the eye of the croc, hoping to blind the beast. Unfortunately for the Barbarian, the giant crocodile scoops him up in his jaws, which slam shut like a drawbridge being pulled up. Gorg is eaten trapped! Dak aims at the croc with his poisoned knife, hoping it would penetrate the scaly hide, but the young Rogue is stopped by a vicious claw strike to his legs (5 damage). Guts is up next, cool as you like with his cutlass, he slashes the croc across the snout (13 damage). Nerwen tries to smash the croc with her hammer, but takes a wilder swing than usual and manages to miss the creature completely. Sarick readies an attack with his trusty frost magics, but the croc is surprisingly fast, dashing between the heroes and ramming the Naga (3 damage). The battle continues! 11. It's just the main build from 5868 Ferocious Creatures. I actually bought the set in a 3 for 2 deal last month purely to use it as a boss battle in my Quest . It was actually a very involved and interesting build, with lots of green pieces which I don't have many of, so it was well worth getting. As a boss battle, I wanted more than one special, but not to have them occur in order (which is how you and Sandy did it). Mainly because I want the croc to eat 3 of the party!
  12. Interestingly in the Tavern in Quest#13, the Gungan-headed patron never got spoken to. Maybe everyone really does hate them!
  13. Guts digs around with his shovel, but this time finds nothing of value. The party head towards the right of the cavern (they had entered it from the left), with Sorrow holding up the torch. The ground underenath the right hand side of the cavern is wetter, and sounds of running water can be heard coming from a large crack in the wall in the right hand side. The party are investigating this large crack when the slithering noise rushes at them, along with a gigantic snapping jaw - there is a monster roaming the mine! The huge crocodile lumbers through the crack and into the cavern, its eyes gleaming with brutish intent (but not the same evil glow as the possessed vermin and skeletons). The torchlight shows its armoured, scaly hide and thick foreclaws. It positions itself for an attack at the party. Prepare for battle! Enemy: Giant Crocodile Type: Aquatic Monster Level: 5 Health: 180/180 Specials: Tail Whip – The crocodile swings its massive tail around, catching the attacker and Stunning them. 14. I really liked the presentation, and the fact we were playing real characters. However I was very worried that our actions were tied with those characters, I mean, I'm Deadshot, what can I claim when somebody dies? I thought the "everyone has 2 abilities" meant that the Scum were struggling from the off as there were no vanilla Townies. There just weren't many "elements of doubt" when so many people can be investigated, watched or tracked. Deadshot was caught in a lie but basically I didn't have anywhere to go once that happened. I just tried to put some suspicion on Clayface, that was about all I could do. I did have a couple of PMs with def afterwards about his rather blunt approach. I said to him that I understood where he was coming from but that he could maybe tone it down just a fraction. I do understand that its purely while the game is on. I enjoyed being part of the Scum team - all great guys, very pleased to have played alongside you - but not actually being Scum, if that makes any sense. I really don't think I'm cut out for it. However, I think if Catwoman had survived the first day, maybe it would have been a different game. I would like to thank ADHO and the Penguin again for hosting this rather unique game.
  15. Guts sees that the gems are intricately connected with the door in some way, and shouldn't really be taken away from it, or it will never open. QM Note - I do have a pic of the door so you will see what I mean, but I need the party to either all be at the door, or all investigating the noise. Only the one torch, you see. So it will have to be a majority decision. So far we have 3 votes to investigate the slithering noise. Dak, venom fixed. For the shovel, I am rolling the die, it's just that Guts is very lucky with it!
  16. DN, that wasn't a criticism of anyone else. Your roleplay was also good! There seems to be a bit of a rift between Dak and the more streetwise Guts. I like that.
  17. I love that funhouse set! It really does appear that the buildings are quite 60s based for their aethestics, that wouldn't look out of place in the 60s Tv show. I am reminded also by Arkham City too, the Joker's funhouse level in particular. This really seems like a good way to get several key villains, along with a cheaper way to get the Dymanic Duo, in a villan-centric building. This one is a must-have for me.
  18. I love the fact that you have been paying attention to the story and have brought up your objections in-character. It would have been interesting to see some of the others agree with you in the thread.
  19. The noise intensifies as Sarick gets a little bit nearer, although he does not want to travel too far out of the range of the torch. It's a kind of slithering sound, that is echoing around. Guts finds that the gemstones come off easily, taking no real effort to pry out. They were clearly meant to be moved around on the face of the door. Does he still wish to take them?
  20. I want to give some credit to ScubaCarrot in Quest#13, he really went for Sorrow there. Lots of good roleplaying!
  21. "You demand to know all I know about the Darkstar? We all have secrets, Rogue. I'm sure you have a mysterious past, as do you all. We now know Dak's story, but he could no longer hold it in. You may well learn, in time, that it is not our actions that define us, but our secrets. You will never learn all of mine, but, seeing as you had the temerity, the audacity, to stand up to me face to face, I will impart one last piece of information. The Zeigfrieds hired me because I am one of the few people alive today that has actually seen the Darkstar, long ago. I know what it looks like, and how its power feels, as my village was destroyed many years ago by the one who wielded it." Sorrows voice trails off, as if she is reliving the past. With this admission, the tension fades. Nerwen steps in and puts an arm around Guts, leading him away from the mystic, but both adversaries keep a wary eye on the other. It is an uneasy truce. The party then focus on the cave-in. Under Nerwen's supervision, Sarick uses his frost magic (-1 Ether) to freeze up the remaining rocks blocking their way, which then shatter as Gorg hefted his pickaxe at them with his brute Orc strength. The path is now unblocked. The party can now go forward. Guts digs around in the dirt, and finds an additional 10 gold. Party: Guts Holla (played by Scubacarrot) Level 5 Rogue Power: 9 Health: 11/11 Gold: 36 Inventory: Mockthril Cutlass (WP:4) equipped, Rusty Shortsword (WP:3) Poisoned, Potion, Bedroll, Gold Ore, Shovel Sarick Lanse (played by Xarrzan) Level 5 Mage Power: 10 Health: 9/9 Ether: 7/9 Gold: 10 Inventory: Healing Staff (WP:5, healing effect) equipped, Mockthril Staff (WP: 4), Shark Fang Dagger (WP: 3), Opal Gem (Ice), Potion, Phoenix Essence Dak Shadeaux (played by darthnihilus) Level 5 Rogue Power: 9 Health: 11/11 Gold: 0 Inventory: Mockthril Knife (Equipped)(WP:4) Poisoned, Twin Longswords (WP:3), Mockthril Whip (WP:4), 2 Venoms, Potion, Bedroll Nerwen Calmcacil (played by Chromeknight) ** Party Leader ** Level 4 Cleric Power: 8 Health: 12/12 Ether: 3/8 Gold: 0 Inventory: Mockthril Hammer (WP:4), Wooden Staff (WP:3), Potion, Remedy, Fire Bomb, Bone, Note (Quest Item) Gorg (played by Lordofdragonss) Level 4 Barbarian Power: 8 Health: 11/11 Gold: 5 Inventory: Mockthril Spear (WP:4), Bone club (WP:3), a bottle of Mead, Potion, Pickaxe, Venom Knifk (played by Bioniclover) Level 5 Knight Power: 9 Health: 9/14 Gold: 5 Inventory: Mockthril Katana (Greatsword, WP:4) Equipped, Mockthril Shield (SP: 4), Morning Star (WP:3), Wyrm Shield (SP:2), Potion, Venom --------------------------------------- The party decide to continue down the tunnel, as it is really the only way they can go that they have not yet explored. The sound of water echoes around the tunnel, as Sorrow, carrying the torch, leads the party downwards. The tunnel looks less and less like a mining tunnel the further they go. "The Darkstar is close by. I can feel it." The tunnel opens out into a large underground cavern. In the middle is a large, ornate door decorated with gemstones. The other end of the cavern is currently in darkness, the torch not giving out enough light to see, but they can hear noises coming from that way. What do the party want to do?
  22. Sorrow drew herself up to her full height and stared haughtily at Guts. "Do not test my patience, Rogue. Dak here knows that I am indeed a practitioner of magics, although not as skilled as some, and in different ways to Nerwen or Sarick. You know nothing about me, true. I realise that this may make you uncomfortable. Would it help if we all clasped hands and sung songs together of high adventures and spilling blood? No, of course not. This is a business arrangement, nothing more. I will say this, I am old. Older than I care to remember, older than you can dream of, human. My face does not show the ravages of time gone before, except in its colour. Would you condemn me purely on this? The Zeigfrieds hired me to find the Darkstar. They had heard rumours of its power and want it safe. I used their fee to hire you to help me. That is all you need to know. I do not get involved in the fighting, that is up to you, that is what I am paying you for. You have proven your value so far in this journey, and overcome odds that may have been insurmountable for one person. Don't mistake that for me not being able to fight. Trust me, with your newfound love of life, you would not want to see me in action. I am singleminded and do not offer mercy to my enemies. Is that what we are, now?" She stared unblinking at the man with the face coverings, the tension in the tunnel getting palpable.
  23. "You think those skeletons were referring to me? They could have been talking about Nerwen, or anything we haven't yet encountered in this horrible, dark place. They also mentioned a 'he'? Who do you suppose that is? Are you going to accuse one of your other adventurers like you have accused me? I had high hopes for you, Rogue. I thought we may have been cut from the same cloth. But now I am not so sure. The priority here is to find a way through this cave-in, not standing around throwing accusations around like you were in some kind of parlour game."
  24. QM Note - There are only two tunnels. One was an actual dead end, where you fought the vermin. Then you have this cave-in. "You are concerned what that undead... abomination said? In this mine, surrounded by the dark power of the Darkstar? I think we have more important things to worry about, like seeing how we can continue on!"
  25. QM Note - Party after loot distribution: Party: Guts Holla (played by Scubacarrot) Level 5 Rogue Power: 9 Health: 11/11 Gold: 26 Inventory: Mockthril Cutlass (WP:4) equipped, Rusty Shortsword (WP:3) Poisoned, Potion, Bedroll, Gold Ore, Shovel Sarick Lanse (played by Xarrzan) Level 5 Mage Power: 10 Health: 9/9 Ether: 8/9 Gold: 10 Inventory: Healing Staff (WP:5, healing effect) equipped, Mockthril Staff (WP: 4), Shark Fang Dagger (WP: 3), Opal Gem (Ice), Potion, Phoenix Essence Dak Shadeaux (played by darthnihilus) Level 5 Rogue Power: 9 Health: 11/11 Gold: 0 Inventory: Mockthril Knife (Equipped)(WP:4), Twin Longswords (WP:3), Mockthril Whip (WP:4), 3 Venoms, Potion, Bedroll Nerwen Calmcacil (played by Chromeknight) ** Party Leader ** Level 4 Cleric Power: 8 Health: 12/12 Ether: 3/8 Gold: 0 Inventory: Mockthril Hammer (WP:4), Wooden Staff (WP:3), Potion, Remedy, Fire Bomb, Bone, Note (Quest Item) Gorg (played by Lordofdragonss) Level 4 Barbarian Power: 8 Health: 11/11 Gold: 5 Inventory: Mockthril Spear (WP:4), Bone club (WP:3), a bottle of Mead, Potion, Pickaxe, Venom Knifk (played by Bioniclover) Level 5 Knight Power: 9 Health: 9/14 Gold: 5 Inventory: Mockthril Katana (Greatsword, WP:4) Equipped, Mockthril Shield (SP: 4), Morning Star (WP:3), Wyrm Shield (SP:2), Potion, Venom -------------------------------------- Nerwen reads the note, it says: 3 is the magic number Although they had cleared some of the rubble from the cave-in that revealed the skeletons, the shaft is still full of rocks. What will the party do?
