General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

As is the price we pay for licensed sets under a very popular movie title. But hey, larger pictures! Still very preliminary, but at least we can get a better look until the finals appear. -
Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions

That's a pretty good deal, from what I can see from the SES on BL,it can go to almost $300, and the BSB can go up to $995 , but I don't think that the $995 is a far price at all. All in all, from what I can see, yes, it sounds like a good deal. -

I'm hoping for a new Tricorne as seen on the Jack Sparrow fig seen at Comic-Con back in July, bu thats all I can think of. I was also hoping for a new flintlock pistol, but that dream has since been shot down after seeing one of the POTC teaser images. -
I had never talked with Zorro personally, but I had seen his posts around here before, and he seemed like a very nice person. It's always sad to see anyone pass, and this is no exception. Rest in peace, and may my condolences be with his family.

Alright, I have a question about editing my post. When I originally posted my code, I posted it in all caps, after seeing all other posts, I noticed theirs was in mostly lowercase except for the first letter, so I changed it to all lowercase, except the first letter, was that ok? -

I've actually been thinking about switching over to fleshie heads after hearing about the arrival of this theme. However, I think I'll stick to yellow heads, since normal LEGO Pirates is bound to come back eventually. -
Alas, until I get more pieces or actually hull parts, a square stern is what will have to do. Thank you for the comment!

I'm almost sure that those aren't the final minifigs, because most of the torso prints are PoP torsos and Indiana Jones torsos. I don't think they'll stay like that. -
Thank you very much for the comment! The bowsprit was made by attaching a bunch of 1x1 cylinders together with a 4L bar in the middle, then I put that on a jumper plate and attached the jumper plate to a pair of minifigure legs. I attached the minifigure legs one stud back from 2 2x1 pieces, which can be pushed in to make the bowsprit go up or down, depending on what angle I like it. I've changed the construction of the bowsprit itself to a long column with a base, but the way it's attached to the ship is the same. EDIT: And here are some new pictures! More can be seen on my Flickr! The steering wheel of the Blind Demise. "In early 1706, Captain S. Beldin was still in charge of the Blind Demise, however he felt that the ship was in desperate need of many new improvements after a storm devastated the sail and the previous steering system. Among those changes was improved rigging as well as some hull changes."

Thank you very much! Since the posting of this topic a few weeks ago, "The Blind Demise" has undergo a lot of changes actually, I'll post the photos sometime this weekend. Things included: new sail, made the mast taller, included a steering wheel and even added some parts to make it look as if the ship has rigging.

Note sure if this will be a problem, but I just wanted to point out that this has happened to me me twice now, and is still a problem. AdBlock plus? Maybe I'll try that. but still, just putting that out there.

Still prelims, but pictures of the QAR are here! The sail color looks ugly, but the picture is still very small and it's hard to see any other details. Hopefully we'll get some HD finalized pics sometime in the very near future. -

Not always. SW has had some sets from the Expanded Universe, like 7664-1 TIE Crawler, 7672 Rogue Shadow, and 8087 TIE Defender. That being said, I don't think there is enough expanded universe backbone for PoTC. Unlike SW, which has a HUGE expanded universe, spanning comics, movies, shows, and other mediums, such as video games. -
I love the way you used the HP chalkboard piece, i really like the wig, very well made for a custom piece.
-
Wow! That's a really interesting shape, very eye-catching and very well color-coordinated.
-
I haven't seen any of the movies fully, I've only seen bits and pieces, but this office looks really nice. i like fleshy-toned minifigures, very fitting for POTC. The only nitpick I have is is the map. it's very recent, and not fitting for the Pirates era. Even though, I still like the idea of having that map there, accurate or not.

I'm curious as to how many minifigures will have fleshy parts in their torsos. Let's hope it's not too much, I want to be able to use these parts with my yellow pirate universe! -
I'd much rather be a pirate. I'd get to explore whenever and wherever I wanted, with no martial law hanging over my head. Free as a bird!

Well the piece count seems alright, lets hope that these sets will be full of useful pieces and new interesting parts! I'm eagerly awaiting pictures, but then again, aren't we all? -
Well, this morning before I left to go do daily things I do on the weekdays, I decided to visit EuroBricks. I was looking around, exploring the forums, and clicked back to the frontpage because the current post interested me, yet I did not click on it. However, as I was about to click on it, just moving my mouse, I was redirected to a page that I was not familiar with. It was a blank white page, with two animated face rapidly changing. Above, it said "CHECK OUT FACE MASHER" or something of the sort. I quickly changed it back to the EuroBricks homepage by hitting the back button, but to no avail. I was quickly redirected AGAIN to this suspicious ad. I closed FireFox immediately, and did a virus scan. Luckily, nothing malicious was found. However, I thought I would mention this, just to give a heads up. I've never experienced this before, I don't know if it was intended, could something please help? Thank you in advance.
