  1. I highly Doubt Johnny Depp will stop being Captain Jack anytime soon. Kids love the character, and I believe he has showed up at events as Jack Sparrow on numerous occassion, with much enjoyment. I'll look for sources to back this up, but for now I just have my words. Also, hiatus from yellow? Looks like I might HAVE to use the yellow sharpie trick.
  2. Musketeer wasn't what I was expecting, but I LOVE that hat. HAZMAT suit is probably my second favorite, and so far this looks to be my favorite series yet. But photos already? Seriously? LEGO seems to be pretty loose with this kind of stuff.
  3. Wow, thank you for the tutorial! That was actually really helpful, I'll have to add an image in when I get the chance to. Thanks for the kind words as well!
  4. Continuing on the story I have going on so far with my Pirates universe, I present: Port Premio! Copied and pasted from my Flickr photo stream; Circa November-December, 1705; Ah yes, Port Premio, owned and operated by Rodrigo, Captain Beldin's former best friend and now, arch nemesis. Who knew Captain Beldin would return just to tick off his old pal? Apparently not Rodrigo, as the whole port was so unprepared that the crew of the Rotten Carrot were able to cause enough destruction and chaos to bring in all of Rodrigo's crew and half the Port's population! As a clueless merchant passes by, two pirates are greeted by Old man Herbert, the grouchy sourpuss who doesn't really enjoy the privateer's company. On the streets, chaos ensues, and Rodrigo and Beldin battle it out on top of a small, slave house for the rich, powerful neighbors. Who will win? And now, what you've been waiting for... the photos! Not the best, but I think I'm improving on my photo taking skills, as well as my editing skills. Since the file uploading isn't letting me upload anything , pictures at my Flickr Photostream; http://www.flickr.com/photos/42951625@N07/
  5. For a semi-purist, I might have to actually try this sometime. Thanks for the idea!
  6. I have to agree. Adding some really detailed torsos into a batch of just detailed enough torsos looks off to me. Hopefully not all torsos in the POTC theme will have fleshy openings or would be much more detailed than original pirate torsos. Hopefully.
  7. Thank you! I still have the ship put together, I'm debating whether or not to take to apart or build a port with it. I have another diorama that I'm debating on adding this to, that will be posted soon.
  8. What about Batman? Just above Indiana Jones? Just below? I don't know, but I pretty much agree with this list you have here. Anyways, I really hope this goes further than PoP did. Just one, fatally boring line.
  9. After keeping myself quiet for a while, now that the theme has been confirmed, I'd like to state my excitement. HOORAY! After pretty much missing out on the 2009 line (wasn't into Pirates at the time. ) with the exception of a few sets, I'm glad I can jump on board with this new theme. I've only seen the first film, and I might have to watch the others before pics show up, so I know what I'm looking at.
  10. Very nice cannon. I may have to borrow your design utilizing the dumbells for my next ship, with credit where credit it due of course, and of course with your permission. Really clever design. Nice job.
  11. Muskeeters! Sounds fantastic! I'll be anticipating it as I calmly wait for Series 2 to arrive at my LEGO store.

    Smugglers

Like I said on Flickr, excellent bird design. It's an overall really nice scene, but I have to ask, how is the Dastan hair mop achieved? Is it just an illusion or is some modifying needed?
  13. Very nice little scene you've got going on here. I really like the pathway leading up to it from the side. Surprisingly, I had "Animal Cops: Philadelphia" playing before, and they were arresting cock-fighting ring leaders. Sad in real life, but as far as LEGO scenes go, I love it!
  14. What I'd want in a fort is as follows; One large watchtower, below that there would be a wall stretching 20-ish studs wide in one direction, and 10 or so in the other. Off of these two sides are perpendicular walls, and eventually the back is finished off. Inside the walls, or above, would be a cannon every 4 or so studs. Placed on wall mounts of course. Openings/doors would be on the back side facing inland, and there woulds be about 15 or so soldiers of whatever faction guarding the area, standing by the watchtower, lantern in hand etc etc. In the back left corner, diagonal from the tower, would be the, er, sort of admiral's house. it could be anyone's house really, but I think the admiral's house is most fitting. Inside would be multiple kegs of rum, and a desk and some paper, with a map on the wall next to some charts. Hmm, sounds like I'll have to start building myself a fort that meets these requirements.
  15. Agreed. Right now, it seems to me, that there are too many blue coats just standing around. Adding a few drunken pirates will really finished it off.
  16. Woah! I didn't even notice! Nice catch! Hopefully the local LEGO store near me will finally get this series. They had a small shipment of Series 1, but I've yet to see Series 2 at all.
  17. For all those saying that the set is too bland and tan, you have to remember the actual building of 30 Rock and the surrounding buildings are! Especially on this scale. The really interesting stuff happens on the inside of all these buildings. Especially 30 Rock. The only thing that sets it apart from other buildings is that it is HUGE and contains the HQ for one of America's biggest television companies. All the interesting stuff, like the strobe light elevator, the touch screen filled cafe, the NBC studios tours, it's all on the inside. However, I would've enjoyed a different building, even in person 30 Rock is a pretty boring building, and the other buildings are just scenery in this set. At this scale, it's nearly impossible to convey the craziness of Rockefeller center that makes it what it is. I might just get this set for the novelty of actually being there, though. TL;DR, It's a pretty boring place on the outside, and being on this scale is just making it more bland.
  18. But where to put them? It would have to interrupt the railing I've made. But thank you for the comment, and I appreciate the suggestion!
  19. Well since you asked so nicely. Here's another picture that I am finished with. It's sort of big, so i can't upload another picture into my post. But I will add more pictures later, if I can get them all edited.
  20. [pid][/pid] 102c Hello! Recently, after getting into building LEGO Pirates in comparison to formerly building LEGO Castle, I built some dioramas, nothing special. I thought I couldn't build a large ship, not having any hull pieces. However, while I was dealing with an illness last week, I decided to stop building a bunch of islands and build a full fledged ship! And so, I grabbed my sigfig and his crew, and started building a ship. A few hours later on that same Friday last week, I had what I like to call The Rotten Carrot. Back-Story Time! In 1705, after attacking a nearby port, the crew of the Mangy Wolf ran into an old pal of theirs, Rodrigo, who owned a port of his own. However, Captain S. Beldin felt that his ship was all too small, he boarded the fluyt and threw his best friend, Rodrigo, and Rodrigo's nephew, overboard. Rodrigo swam to shore, but noticed his nephew was swept away. He was put into a deep depression, forever wishing he could exact revenge and find his nephew. The ship was then renamed by Captain S. Beldin as the Rotten Carrot. Named solely because he thought it had a nice ring to it. The carrots on board, contrary to popular belief, were not rotten. End of Back-Story Time! So, now for the pictures; I'm not the best photographer as you can tell. And I kind of lied, I have only one, VERY poorly edited picture to show you guys as of right now. I might get around to taking more, I don't know. Without further shenanigans, here it is, the Rotten Carrot!
  21. When I was younger, my parent's had a cat. Sydney was her name. She liked my mother and father. Loved them to death. Me, however, she did not like. When I was about 3 and a half, she was put to sleep cause she was old and ill. I was saddened, because I loved her, despite the fact she hated me. Anyways, about a year or two later, I was not longer an only child, my mother gave birth to my brother 5 or so months earlier, and I often woke up in the night because I worried about monsters or whatever. But instead of just calling for my mom or walking into her room, I walked out to my hallway and saw my cat, Sydney, who was long gone. I was still somewhat asleep, but when I came to my senses I was extremely frightened. My mother came out to the hallway and started petting the cat. This, scared me more than anything else. My mother wasn't phased at all! After seeing my mom pet Sydney, I ran into my mom's room and ducked under the bedsheets, shivering until I fell asleep. Also, another story with less background aspects is when I was 5 or so, I was in my mothers room cause I couldn't sleep, and I heard a flute playing, as if it were in my attic. I didn't sleep at all that night, not only because I was afraid, but because the flute playing was too loud!
  22. Sorry to say, but no it's not. Not surprisingly, my name is based on the fact that my favorite color is, actually, gray.
  23. Light bluish gray of course!
  24. Hello! I am, as you can probably see, Mr. Gray. I am new to EuroBricks, but I am on numerous other websites, such as Flickr, Classic-Castle, as well as many other LEGO related sites. I don't go under the same name, of course. I have a wide range of names and aliases. I'm new to EuroBricks only as in creation of an account, I have lurked for quite a while, contemplating whether or not I should join. Finally, i came to a conclusion. Anyways, I like to build Castle and Pirate creations. So, you might see me posting some creations here every now and then. :)
