  1. Is this mod is the best option for more torque applied to the track? Also, is it less effective if you leave the 9V motor intact? Logistically I see this as "yes" with the extra load trying to draw current but, have never done anything like this (integrating 9V with PF accessories).
  2. The best answer I could find is from this topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53851&st=0&p=962261&hl=9v%20battery%20box&fromsearch=1entry962261 but, this is not the same box. It may have a similar setup though. As for corrosion, I use a Dremel with a steel brush bit to clean it off with minimal effort. Hope this helps
  3. Another great layout constructed here 'LTF12V' I like the shots of the trains in low light with the trailing red lights. The 11th photo down looks to have a ghost train Do you not have a permanent layout room and just take time, whenever, to build new?
  4. Well, the Santa Fe Super Chief, I believe was designed off of the EMD FP45 from 1968-69', and only pulled passenger cars. Long since retired from operation, I have done the same and plan to set it on a few pieces of RC track as a "preserved display" for my city. The cars for this are too rich for my blood, I only acquired one. Besides I will need the extra 9V motor for the new Maersk. Apart from that it is just too elegant to haul cargo. As for the BNSF GP-38-2 (produced 1974-75') is technically a switcher engine (not intended for long hauls) but, definitely looks good in front of TTX double stacks. Mine is hooked to a bunch of those, as well as, to miscellaneous rolling stock from other 9V sets (i.e. 4552 Cargo Crane). I prefer a little bit of realism when building my trains, though. Really its up to what you like and want to do. The above is MHO. Hope that gives you some inspiration
  5. Very nice bank MOC 'Benny' Both the interior and exterior look great. The guy out front must be out of his mind, standing in front of a federal building with a rifle! Keep up the great work
  6. I think I read that the newer space police have a set with one Edit: I can't say for sure, unless a rock raider set has one.
  7. Great review on this great set Being a city fan, I never received this set as a kid. I always wanted to get one but, always opted for the price equivalent priced city set (only got one or two a year). Now I am on the hunt to get this on my display shelf. Thank you for this great classic review 'mostlytechnic'
  8. A few more small BL orders today
  9. This is going to look great upon its completion. Awesome work so far. Great job on the technique used to replicate the concrete ribbed roof. Can't wait to see the finished MOC. Keep up the great work
  10. Great shipyard you built here Hoexbroe This is huge! The details are amazing. I really like the factory/warehouse with the boat launch. Top notch build for sure, keep up the great work
  11. I suppose it makes sense that Lego has so many sets with coffee machines.. I haven't seen one of my minifigs take a nap since I assembled them
  12. A very interesting find, any pics of Will. i. am's hat and necklace?
  13. On this note, I have a small fortune new and built sets in my attic from 80's-pres. It gets below 10 in the winter and above 100 in the summer... Should I be concerned about these temp. swings?? I DO NOT/CANNOT compromise these sets.
  14. Great MODs 'AussieJimbo' The engine looks spot on and the colors are Great. The extension of the 7939's cars look much better. Definitely an all around great train. If only you had some stickers
  15. Great city block 'Calvin' Great detail. A suggestion to give it that professional touch: Smooth tiles over the road and raised/ smooth tile side walk using SNOT. Great work so far, keep it up
  16. Unfortunately, no, looked good though. Got me thinking on how I'd do a suspension bridge, though
  17. Great MOC 'FC' This is how a pizzeria should be. Great details indeed. I really like the oven. More pics of the inside? Keep up the great work!
  18. No 9v?? That is crazy I thought about adding the BNSF to the Maersk (when I get them) but, I think the BNSF would stick out like a sore thumb among the blue/white/grey. Maybe at the front or like you said, further back. Especially if it isn't powered. I don't think the BNSF can be PFed without heavy modification. Hopefully someone will post some pics with these tw freight titans together
  19. This train buries all the others. I would definitely get at least one. I almost didn't get the BNSF but, finally got my hands on one. I regret everyday not having that in my collection as power in front of my freight. I'd sooner part with my 7939s to get this train. It's not very often we get an engine, let alone an entire train, with this kind of detail. Motorized or not its a must have!
  20. I am assigning my BNSF to track side and rail repair as well as hauling non-container freight. All cranes, tankers, and flatbeds from the 9v era will be behind. She'll still have a good load to pull. Then again depending on how the TTX's will look and the number of Maersk Trains I get may upset this decision. I am still looking for a decent deal on another BNSF.
  21. Great train station 'mrts' I have to agree with 'KielDaMan' on the checkered accents with those wedges, very nice. I see you have trains that run to New York, Tokyo, AND all over Europe This is a great build
  22. Awesome TurboTank 'Saint' This thing is mammoth! 400 minifig plates?? A very impressive build indeed. What would you say its weight is? Can't wait to see the interior (when its furnished) Keep up the great work!
  23. Greetings from Appalachia as well! Are you in the actual state of VA or WV? I sometimes refer to my home state of WV as the Western Province of Virginia Welcome to Eurobricks!
  24. Thank you for the insight 'c_a', very helpful
  25. I do/did/and don't. Confused? I'll explain. I do this where ever possible, did this to the same truck but ,do not do this with propellers as the have a raised Lego and a part number on the "wrong" side Off topic I build my sets with the Lego sigs on the bricks facing same direction forward or to the left unless a modified brick has a single fitting application. I must be OCD or something
