    No problem my friend. After the weeks of searching for parts for my Gigahorse MOC, I know that experience well. This in dark grey was my grail brick for about a month: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3299 For the longest time there was one single brick of this and the guy wanted (iirc) six bucks. I worked around it by using pairs of the 2x2 equivalent. A bunch just turned up and I finally bought two (from the Netherlands by coincidence!) and I'm looking forward to settling my designer's inner struggle to have exactly the right part.

    Holy smokes, after shopping around those have to be the most valuable 2x2 plates ever! I would have PM'd you but I think I need more posts first. Love this project, so in a small moment of "pay it forward" I picked up a set of 18 2x2 dark blue plates from ebay. If you'd like to send your mailing address to me (havegoalsmke at gmail) I will put them in an envelope to the Netherlands and you'll be (nearly) 30% of the way there.

    Lifelong fan of the movies. After seeing Lego Will's version of the Gigahorse all over the internet, I wanted one in my own style. My first Lego/Technic hybrid too. Many thanks for looking!

    As part of building the vehicles from Mad Max, I delved into minifigs. Thanks to all for the encouraging tips I found here!

    For what its worth, I have found that Krink brand inks perform well on Lego. Highly staining and you can achieve a much smoother finish vs. sharpie.
