  1. Location: Port Raleigh Type: Small Cultural It was a fine day in Port Raleigh, and outside the Local Government Offices, soldiers idly patrolled, in case of Sea Rat attack. Representative Bob Mitchell was startled from his paperwork, by a rather rude Count Mesabi, wielding a sealed envelope. "What the? Who are you!?" Yelled Rep. Mitchell "The 'name' is Count Mesabi of Debonshire, member of the Royal Parliament, CEO of the WTC, and Adventurer Extraordinaire." Said Count Mesabi in an absurdly confident voice. He dropped the letter off on the desk. "You'll want this." "It's labeled, the "I Love Corrington" Bill..." muttered Rep. Mitchell Meanwhile, Accountant Darby dug through papers in the Records room, searching for tax information so that he could finally finish the 617 Audit of the WTC. The Count moseyed over to the Liquor Tray, and without a bit of hesitation, began chugging the most expensive wine. Rep. Bob sputtered, "Hey, you can't..." The Count ignored him, swallowed, and interrupted. "You know, I can almost taste the grapes in this wine." He paused. "Oh were you saying something?" Bob tried to talk once more, but the Count interrupted before he could even get a single word out. "This bill will revolutionize Corrington, go ahead and open it!" Said the Count with the enthusiasm of a small child granted free reign in a candy store. Rep. Mitchell scanned through the bill. "This is just a series of massive Government contracts towards the WTC...." The Count took another swig, before backwashing half of the swig into the bottle, setting it down, and walking over to the desk. He picked up the piece of paper. "No, Todd," He said, "The Bill creates a new holiday called 'Corrington Day,' declares Strawberry Cake 'Anetta's Cake,' and allocates funds for a funeral for Comodore Cooke when he gets executed for heresy in Terraversa" He paused. "And additionally, has a few riders making sure the WTC gets those government contracts no one else wanted..." "This is Insane!" Yelled Rep. Mitchell, "I'll never vote for this bill, even if it passes the Noble Parliament!" "Well then, Rep. Micheal, I guess you don't love Corrington." And with that, he grabbed an envelope, and left the Office, leaving a bewildered Rep. Mitchell to consider his life choices, and the Insanity of the Mesabi name. Outside, Darby and Mesabi reconvened. "So, according to this," said Darby, "The WTC owes the crown-" The Count interrupted. "Darby, I understand you're excited, but I have something more important! I stole this envelope from the desk of Rep. Rob Witch-hazel! It could be important!" "Wait, isn't that like super illegal to-" Darby was again interrupted by the roughling of paper as the Count tore open the envelope like a lion to a gazel's stomach. "Aww, it's just a lame birthday card to his nephew in Quinnsville, but wait!" He exclaimed. "There's 2 Dubloons inside! I'm rich!" FIN Thanks for viewing my build. Here are some shots of the entire building. I really enjoyed this build, and I really tried to make it look as neat and put together as possible. I think it might have turned out a little too neat, but I'm quite happy with it. C&C appreciated! Apologies to @Bregir, but IC Count Mesabi would assume that Cooke would be executed for Heresy. While I'm not sure how *hush hush* the TER story has been for us, (still catching up on 2 years of backlog ) I could See Count Mesabi knowing Cooke is there, and assuming he would be executed for heresy for no reason other than that's the kind of thing the Count assumes. I mean no harm, and enjoy your stories and this is entirely an IC statement.
  2. I like all the effort and detail you put into the build, from the well, to the large building next to figures, and the curve of the baseplate of the build. Troop raising builds don't have to be complex, so the extra effort really helps bring the build to the next level. Boy, this here TER-OL war is going to be an interesting test of the land combat rules... Yes, but they only in two POTC sets, so they're a little pricey. They also chip easy, so a bit of while paint and some edge highlighting might be a better option
  3. Great figure selection! I like the uniqueness of each, and the effort you put in. One comment, I'd upgrade your lighting set up, your photo is a tad dark. I got a 1600 Lumen lightbulb (which is absurdly bright) for about 8 USD, and it works amazing. I like your thinking! TER has a long way to go if they want to survive, but the power of friendship, their fighting spirit will give them a good chance. (And a bunch of MOCs from anyone who doesn't like Oleon )
  4. Very nice build, and I like the vegetation and the figures. I notice in the first picture that there is a slope on the roof not pressed down, and that looks a bit off, but otherwise the build looks great. Sad to see you send men to die on Terraversa for your evil imperialistic machinations though!
  5. Thanks for updating the quality of the photos! It's a good start to a ship, and I look forwards to see you progress with your builds! Indeed! I know most of my old builds were quite blocky, have exposed studs, etc, and don't look to great. But once you learn a few techniques, shamelessly copy other builder's inventions, and get a little bit of practice, you can really do some cool things with bricks.
  6. Thanks for getting the MCRA ready for another turn! This aught to be an interesting one, and I can't wait to see what happens with TER either way it goes.
  7. Great story, and nice build. I like the minifig selection and posing, and the cannon looks quite good as well. That being said, I hope Terraversa kicks your blue butts!
  8. Nice build, it has a lot of character and detail for a small build in the outdoors. Only thing I'd change is it could maybe use some other greens to break up the monotone of the lime, but it looks fine without it. Great job!
  9. Wow, this turned out great. Awesome job on the road, and the build came together quite well.
  10. Turned out very well, @Darnok, I like the usage of parts. Now build more! MOAR! MOAR!!!!!!!
  11. Thank you for hosting this contest once more @Capt Wolf, I look forwards to it, and I'll try to get a build for it,
  12. If I can use it for both, I will. If not, it's to repair the fort, and my GOC task, which is a faction specific thing.
  13. Nice build, it quite reminds me of builds I did when I first joined BoBs. I like the bottom floor. You can never go wrong with tiled floors, especially if you're trying to make a wood floor look. The overall shape is great as well, and I like the form of the building. I look forwards to seeing where you go forwards.
  14. Thanks for the comment Thanks! Your annoyance fuels me! Minifig Diversity! or I could do to these figures what I did to Thaum's avatar.... Thank you so much! Thanks Darnok, and I did actually dust everything off with a paintbrush as well, per your suggestion. Thank you! Hmm, I do think that could have looked better than having the studs jut out. I'll consider this for future builds. I just wasn't sure if I could, as technically this is an MCRA outcome, and I wanted to make sure I at least checked to make sure it was ok. (As I have been notorious for using the same build for multiple things. I will license it as a small residence in Stormhaven.
  15. Excellent build @Bregir I love the detailing and the thematics. It really turned out nicely! I can see all the attention you put into the build, and it really shows.
  16. Thanks for agreeing with me!
  17. just to vassalize the most strategically important island on the map?
  18. @Khorne sorry to disappoint, but beach #4 gets no complaints from me! The uniqueness and the time and effort spent on this build really makes it pop. I love the trench, the fig selection, and the water effects. This turned out great, and I'm quite impressed it looks this well for a beach scene.
  19. Well, this turned out amazing! Absolutely fantastic build, and I love the use of LDD for something that isn't a royal residence.
  20. Thank you! Yup! If you successfully raid a settlement, the forts (or at least one of them) need to be repaired.
  21. I suppose, I kinda see Maneuver as a useless stat, as in convoys it takes the minimum value of all ships, so it makes it harder to help out in a large fleet. (Especially if all of your ships have low maneuver ) I would say it makes IC sense, but I don't think it's as useful as you think. (which I will back up by the fact that @Kwatchi captured it...)
  22. Task 12: Mangrove Madness: Stormhaven Defense
  23. Location: Stormhaven Type: MCRA Outcome / GOC Task (12-A) The Sea Rat Fleet was swift, firing into the wooden frame of Fort Coyle. In moments, it was ablaze, and the raiders upon the town. But that did not stop Stormhaven's brave defenders. Quickly, they readied arms, and rushed to the Town's defense. And by there brave actions, they managed to save* the town of Stormhaven FIN *some of Just a small build to count for reactivating the Fort in Stormhaven. I always like building for the settlement, and I'm mostly happy with how this one turned out. I don't plan to license it, as it as a MCRA build (unless the crown thinks it can / should be) The OOC is that it is a small barracks that the off duty soldiers were hanging out in before Stormhaven was attacked, and that they are rushing out to defend the settlement. If it were EGS it would be small residence, at 16x22. The Storefront is a simple 8x8. The biggest Issue I had was the roof, due to some parts limitations I have for my collection currently. I tried several different techniques, before just deciding to use slopes for the front of the build, and just not having any shots of the entire build. I would have liked to have had a full roof, but it would have sacrificed build quality, and I figured I'd rather have a simple solution that doesn't detract from the build, than a complicated one that does. I did use what my original plan for the roof was in the store front build, and it does look way better, but I just didn't have the pieces to make it for the entire build. I did consider doing an 'action build' of the Sea Rats fighting Corrington, but I ended up deciding to do a build of the fort being repaired... until I realized I couldn't match the style of Fort Coyle well enough, and a different build would be a better option. This went through a few iterations, first i had a scene of workers digging out the mangroves to build a foundation for a new fort, but it ended up basically just being 2 minifigs next to a dock. Then was a very mediocre watchtower build ( @Darnok can attest to) that looked like a pile of brown with a second pile of brown on it. I finally decided to do a cabin design as a barracks, and I think it's a solid build. The Storefront was to mostly round out the build, and hit the 20x20 (400) stud count. I realized very late building it that I was short. (22x16 is only 352) so I made a small build to round out the story, and meet the stud count. I think the only real change I would have made, is perhaps having it have a bigger interior. I used a technique that went well with some other builds (having a layer of white tiles inside of the build, so it has a more clean interior), but it did take away most of the space of the interior, to the point I couldn't fit more in than the box and the minifigs. I also was on the fence about mixing fleshy and yellows, but I didn't think it detracted from the build having both. Anyways, C&C appreciated. @Bregir @Ayrlego @Captain Dee and @SilentWolf please make sure you add your or as to this build. EDIT: So rereading the description of Stormhaven and reviewing more pictures, I can see how these builds don't fit the task as well, as they're not 'properly' suspended over mangroves. This was kinda clear more from the side angles, but having looked at it more, I'd say that it doesn't show it to a point as well was the other builds, and if that is the point of the task to a point of enough to disqualify these, I understand. (I do stand by it repairing the fort though! )
  24. Behold! with the power of science! (And bad photo editing of a 100x100 pixel image.) Thaum in the Flesh! by North White, on Flickr @Professor Thaum what do you think?
  25. I feel like people get way too into having only yellow or only fleshie heads. I know it isn't a fantastic look to use a mix of both, but I really feel like it's almost a character personality thing for the figures.
