  1. People here are creative with many solutions. I could even see some of them boosting the Lego shop. As CMF's are the only thing some people (including myself) still get - getting the right figs online could be a motivation to get yet another set for every order. 3 CMF's per year would mean at least 3 additional orders. Let's hope TLG is also creative. But looking at the Vidiyo desaster (anyone here could have told them 5 killer reasons why the execution was horrible) I don't have a lot of faith.
  2. I'm all for organizing against this move. While not being the core consumers we do have a certain power in the community and we should make a smart strategy for expressing that we prefer not to get 4 "Pineapple costume guys" that we didn't want only because we would like one cool Samurai figure. And for 2 desired figures I don't want to spend 100-200 bucks for a whole box full of figs I dislike. As pointed out there are many ways - codes, stickers, offers to buy individual figures in whole sets directly via Legoshop. If it's only about environment there are ways to still provide us with what we got before. CMF's were the only Lego product I'd purchase but this way I'm out completely. Other companys to way better for half or 1/6 of the price. Not Shi**** on Lego - they are a company looking for profit. But it ain't my product anymore that way. Vidyio boxes in German stores were 50 cent in the end.
  3. I mean.. they don't make no real military stuff but they love to make a planet killer aka Death star which destroyed a whole planet in EPIV. Licenced themes are violent and full of guns. If there is ever a scene with a huge missile and launching station, it would be damn close to a nuclear silo but hey it's fantasy! duel set: Play sets haven't been SW strengh for a long time - remember "Maz Katana temple/bar"? Maybe the base is so thick because of some great play feature. But yeah that main picture looks ugly.
  4. yeah but TLG is not a charity. It's a brand so you pay for the name, special molds, prints and the attached licences. I have never seen official statements about how this service works and why. Maybe it's just about the current crisis hitting their secondary services. Maybe this service was like a a bonus for us AFOLs, escalated and is a pain in their megablocks. Imagine employees around different factories around different countries taking 2 sheeps for one order and 223 for another. Of course as I've stated I'm sure this service could be made profitable. Make parts packs, make some kind of VIP system, make preorder systems or even rise the prices. Especially for specialized parts like animal molds - it never made sense how "cheap" they were. You could buy one set with a tiger for 90€ or 5 tigers for around 30€.
  5. Holy...... Seeing this, I'm very grateful to have finally quit my Lego addiction in 2022, in terms of buying new stuff. I would be really sad, if I would have a wishlist for this year. The Sub-Bounty from last year was the last big set I got - I love my modified version of it but I admit in 2021 it was already overpriced and underdeveloped! I mean back in 2015 it could have been 90-100€. I get inflation but wages didn't increase 30%... From what I know alternative (much cheaper) brands stated, they won't adjust prices yet. I really wonder how stores can still sell Lego sets this way?! I get that AFOL's or rich kids won't skip on some great set they adore, even if the price increases. But overall there's gotta be an effect at one point - especially with alternative brands getting better, while staying cheap...
  6. oh she still going crazy? yeah, again not saying "the world is upside down now". But BEFORE SW made movies again I saw like 5 times the shelves full of SW toys. Again, there were many developements, there could be many other reasons for this. Just saying that I wonder if new SW is working with kids and teens the way OT and prequels did back at the release and if all of SW media is as timeless as Harry Potter or the OT is. Therefore my initial question: wouldn't it be interesting to ask TLG folks WHY they don't release more/bigger prequel sets since around 7 years instead of just complaining that they don't? The answer could very well be that prequel stuff did not stay timeless (like OT or HP) and that after the end of TCW, prequels didn't really sell other than with the now older AFOL's and other fans of that time. Maybe this hypothesis is wrong and the biggest factor is that everything we did get since EPVII outside of TCWS7 and BB is more OT style.
  7. of course they are. But I wonder about the significant changes. Like shelves were full around the release of EPVII. In my perception they were also always well served during the run of TCW. Around the aftermath of TLJ I only saw SW shrink in proportion to other sets. Harry Potter though I saw even growing. But this is my perception in a few regions, doesn't have to be a trend at all.
  8. That's what I'm hoping for - as I won't get anymore Lego sets would be cool gettin some of them cool figures in magazines. I'm afraid my favourite picks of Harumi, Nya (Nya collector here; I have every 2014-2021 fig of hers) and the pretty interesting Overlord won't be all showing up in magazines though..
  9. Out of procrastination I was now checking sequel vs. OT vs. prequel sets on brickset: Unlike the popular claim says, prequels have overall a similar amount of sets than the OT. Some even more. However: - except for EPIII, most EPI + EPII sets are from the early years around the movie release dates. - the biggest amount of sets though is dedicated to The Clone Wars - little OT influence, mostly prequel style designs or sets you could straight up use as EPII or EPIII! - Rebels, Solo, RO and sequel sets tend to be very OT (not Legos fault though) which might give the impression of everything being OT/letter-wing ships. It would be interesting to ask TLG officials why they don't release more prequel sets over 30-50 bucks. As kids and teens of 2015-2022+ didn't grew up with the prequels in the cinema or TCW in television I wonder if EPI+EPII just didn't work anymore with later generations. Interesting as Harry Potter movies and books still seem to inspire new generations in a timeless manner.
  10. I think you did this thread a lot of justice anyway: this. When I was a kid it was the coolest thing to put more stuff in my Millenium Falcon. A bed, a "shuttle", a toilet. And any gap was modified of course. I never understood many of those influencers and other AFOLs keeping their sets EXACTLY the way their instructions tells them WHILE complaining. All sets are Lego making compromises to the market. They aren't holy. Isn't it the coolest thing that you can individualize them, make them better, change it over time, upgrade to modern standards..
  11. I despise the idea of this show or at least the action approach and shoving in so many things from Rebels (a show I loved). But it gives us lots of nice things! - Red visor Vader?! - Like with the current Mace Windu they fixed the leg printing. I don't think it needs dual molded legs - Inquisitors and coat-Kenobi look great like this. The old "old" Ben Kenobi figure with a little dark brown on tan legs was just so horrible.. - Other than the Inquisitor leg printing I prefer the old ones - however both new and old are among the best SW figures ever released! - Radar dish, storable droid, extra hood. Even the CGI alien looks quite nice though the minidoll would have been awesome. ...and this spaceship offers more space than many sets with a much higher price! Pretty cool!
  12. It is what it is. Some are pissed to no longer get plastic sheeps for around 4€ per piece, I can't do my MOCs anymore without going to other brands. In the end it's a huge forum with a lot of members spending their time arguing about a lot of plastic
  13. What cult? Lego is simply available almost everywhere (well no longer in Russia I've heard). Most things they're pretty good at. But they don't offer all services which they could offer (ordering parts, accurate ships and planes) and some of their services aren't for me or other MOCers (most regular sets under 200€). Probably even the majority of AFOL don't care much about the exposed studs and colours of Lego sets. As a very colour and detail sensitive MOC creator I care. As good as TLG is - other brands have made major improvements. The few places where TLG became worse (at least in my experience and according to some influencers like Jangbricks quality of parts is worse. I've never seen so many missing, missprinted, broken or scratched parts, especially windshields) leaves us with a hunger for something TLG or other brands awakened. Ever since dual molded arms and legs anyone (including myself) is obsessed because except for CMF's they are not used for most figures. As you say, there is some movement to alternative brands. But as non are available internationally, I shouldn't repeat my guess, that this will have some broad effect. I don't even think alternative brands could handle a massive increase in sales while keeping their quality. 1. Yes: same (and other useful) parts, same (and other for colourfixed parts) colours. Ever saw Cobi? 100% legal, no knockoff, produced 100% in Europe, 100 % printed, they have plates with studs on the underside. 2. Unseeing the current inflation I think TLG is way cheaper - especially considering all the crazy new molds since 2015. Some parts they clearly took inspiration from other brands. But there was like 15 hairpieces - now we have an infinite ever growing number! 3. But they should be able to say what is and isn't. It's a huge company, they should be able to tell a dedicated community: "Because of factor X and Y we don't know when the service will be back but we are working on it and it could be between 1-3 months or it depends on this and that crysis on which we have no influence". Or: "Because of reason X we don't offer figure and animal parts anymore sorry". It would be fine to make this decision. But it helps to communicate it. Other companies are able to do this as well. The way it was communicated: "Heey we will fuse 2 services for parts and it will be so much cooler! Oh no, now actually we made it worse. Oh well let's shut it down completely without being clear on why, when and how it will return!".
  14. 17. Lancethecat Really amazing perspective especially in context of how the movie was animated.
  15. You are right I guess... It's my own projection, mixed with influence of my own social bubble, where AFOL's have "left" TLG and in the most recent time drastically. Probably has more to do with improvements of other brands and less with TLG themselves. They have improved in many ways as well; whether it's with new parts or better designs in general to appeal outside of the main market. And in the grand scheme - "our way" of ordering parts is probably not significant and other brands providing this service doesn't hurt TLG. Well - I can still hope they put some brain together for communications and transparency!
  16. I may also missed out on some news but from what I've understood, since they shut down the service there isn't ANY clear information so far?! - The information on the site is the same as a month ago; someone here reported that he or she was told the service will return at the end of this month. - Since TLG fused both parts services '2022 parts were hard to impossible to come by. While there could be many reasons for this I have never heard an official explaination like "No it wasn't our intention but we will put some or all '2022 pieces in service at this date OR no specific pieces will not be available anymore". - let's see if standard parts will truly return at the end of this month and whatever "standard" parts means.. Again TLG is a company, I wouldn't moralize them for making a sensitive financial choice. But come on as the BIGGEST toy company can they at least get some department together to communicate clearly to us WHY they shut down or limit a service and WHAT service will work at WHICH time?! It really looks to me like they don't notice a lot of the AFOL fanbase will be lost this way to other companies..
  17. Really good sets overall! I'm sorry about inflation; US seems to be hit harder and Europe softer then it looked initially. Noteworthy to me that all the villains have new face prints, Overlord is distinctive from former figs, Nyas figure looks great and I'm very happy they didn't ignore her in the parts pack (Samurai helmet part). I'm out of Lego though - hope to get that Nya and Overlord at some point. Last waves Nya is the first time I didn't get her fig since like 2013! But anyway my respects and applaus from afar!
  18. I feel really bad for people hyping S2 - it reminds me of the praise EP VII got, when I already saw a sinking ship. I respect a lot of what Dave Filoni has done, but when before he has expressed many times how important the significance of a cameo on the main story and the main cast is - this was thrown out of the window with Ahsoka and Thrawn. It's a shame because he did this kind of cameo stuff quite sensitive in Rebels. People wanted Rebels to become the Ahsoka and Rex show. No, they didn't because it wasn't their story. You couldn't shove it in to advertise some future stuff thay may never come. Ahsoka came only when it made sense and did only what made sense within the story of Rebels. And yeah - Filoni among others is a student of George Lucas. Which means all the (I'm sorry) botched prequel stuff is coming back. I mean Luke talking to a green toy baby and offering a weapon wasn't adult writing anyway. But when all the "don't do Sex" stuff was coming back, my eyes rolled back even further. It's so bad how anyone is botching the beautiful character of Luke, for their own weird projections. I am sceptical of actors taking control of their role - but Mark Hamil for sure would have done a better job, if he wrote Luke himself.
  19. Of course. Just saying that among these things now almost every set contains female figures. I remember the 1st sets with 3 figs of which 2 were female. Was revolutionary, now it happens quite often. There was one Ninjago set (aimed clearly at young men/boys) with a female Android-Samurai and 2 female ninja, fighting against a female villain figure to free Lloyd (the male protagonist). That's a huge improvement over whole waves of only 1 female figure in ALL the wave. Edit: in the same Ninjago wave there were 2 more new female characters appearing in multiple sets and 2 more iterations of female figures from the set described above. Sounds like big improvements to me!
  20. Speaking German kind of fluent I can tell you at least they describe the Grand Inquisitor and the female Inquisitor to only have printed armor and capes. The 5th brother is said to bring a shoulder piece. If it's the same from his former version in the AT-ST - they don't say but would make sense, as the mold was perfect and not that old. A shame - the last Inquisitor had 2 of the greatest molds (printed shoulder armor + dual molded helmet) SW ever did. Oh and unfortunate they don't use minidolls for Kaminoans. Would have been such an awesome crossover/reuse of perfect existing pieces.
  21. Yes and no. We don't know but the task of science is anyway to try to understand better. For example to analyze fossils with all kinds of instruments and methods, observe modern animals closer related to dinosaurs, understand the general nature of colours and so on. As said there are some colours very unlikely to appear in combination in nature and to related animals. Some of those colour combinations appeared with very prominent Dinos though, because Hollywood thought "that's how a Dino (toy) should look". Looking at several reptiles and birds in person instead of through the filter of movies enables us to say at least: spring green belly and olive green top would make more sense then many iterations so far! Which doesn't say white-brown would make less sense. Of course this depends on HOW we perceive colour: Ironically some Hollywood dinos are more colourful by design/concept art but appear dark (brownish-greyish) through the dark filter (to look more realistic and hide issues with animation). With real animals it's the opposite way around: Technically related animals would appear MORE green, red or orange than they are. Having spent a lot of time in nature I prefer the depictions to be more colourful, as they are looking colourful in nature as well. This is a thing of perception and preference of course. After all the proportions are fictional anyway - but who what kids want fat dinos?
  22. Though I never will get any UCS set in my rather poor life I really look forward to the Razor Crest. I almost hope it will look bad to not get tempted. But my studless MOD/MOC is quite good and it's interior does the job so let's see . It's really an iconic vehicle that deserves it's UCS version. I know some folks complain about it being irrelevant but to me the Falcon has lost it's charm after not being lost in EP5/6 or at least 7. It was never a special thing until in EP5, when they realised how much money they can make by shoving it everywhere. Han Solo boasting about the Falcon in EPIV was only boasting as a thug would do and never intended to be used as a reference 500 times. So the Falcon being destroyed would have made it more meaningful to me and while being sorry to not have seen more of the Crests features and interior it was a more authentic ship in the end. It never fought a fleet of Star Destroyers by itself and it didn't need to. I hope they don't put some super exclusive Mando figure in it like a EP1 mando with printed arms... About Cody: Wow after so many years of fake leaks and rumors there is a confirmation. I hope the IG trolls shuts up about it now.
  23. Spring green is a quite natural colour for reptiles and birds! One issue is how "clean" bright colours look in plastic. In reality colours are less clean and consistent. Every Lego hairpiece between blond and brown (brunet, dark/dirty blond and brown as well as orangish) is not capturing the essence of what the hair actually looks like for many people. Therefore we have debates about the choice of Thors, Iron Mans, Obi Wans or Anakins hair colours. Another issue is wrong representation in media: from what we think to know tan, dark tan, brown and greenish colours are colours that would have made sense in dinos. Tan and brown mix with reptiles and birds but it's less likely green and brown/carmine were mixing due to what we know of colours within birds and reptiles. ...meaning the "Dino" theme using the molds we still use today had some popular colour schemes that likely are impossible according to our knowledge of color theory and observation of modern animals .....all to say; for me the spring green T-Rex and the 2 more recent tan/dark tan/brown T-Rex look more authentic though of course we really don't know much..
