  1. The source for the police cruiser; a car that pulls a camper.
  2. Replaced all of the windows and finalized the brick colors and greebling on the main mansion. Still need to finish the roof and the clock tower. lostdriveway--let me know if you prefer to show missing bricks in the columns using black 1x1 round bricks (as seen on the left) or clear (middle and right).
  3. Hi Bitbamboo--The color in LDD is 268 Medium Lilac. lostdriveway likes this color the best, however I still haven't done all of my homework regarding availability of all of the pieces we'll need to get the roofline correct. I'm trying to finalize the roof and the chimneys and I know we'll have to make some decisions regarding the colors, since there isn't a wide variety of plates and tiles in that color. I plan to build a tiled version of the Tower Roof piece, since it's too small for the actual scale of the build. I have it on the tower now just as a place-holder. :-) My final version won't be as fancy as the one you're linking to, but it will be the same general idea. lostdriveway--I think we'll want to change the columns on the windows. The connector tubes (shown on the bottom left) I originally selected to replace the 1x1x6 columns (shown on top) go for $1.50 each and we'll need 6 of them for each window . I switched them to 1x1 round bricks (bottom right). Much cheaper. Does that work for you?
  4. Will do! I'm also working on the best parts to use to get the roof line correct. There aren't any angled plates in either purple that work. In the meantime, I'll finish the details on the main mansion, get that file to you, and then continue with the tower. Have you had any progress on building the greenhouse?
  5. "MadMax Moc." Say that five times fast. Great lookin' ride! Nice lookin' instructions!
  6. Thanks for the comments! They are appreciated, as always. The latest in fashion, straight from Bricksburg! These are approximations of the energy domes created for Mark Mothersbaugh for his performance on the Emmy Awards. From looking at the pictures, he had at least two created for him. The one on the left is the earlier one and the one on the right is a newer, re-sized version. Q: Are we not minifigures? A: We are Master Builders! [with my sincere apologies to Mark :-) ]
  7. ritzcrackerman--I'll post it for everyone when it's done. lostdriveway—I’ve been looking at part colors and have two things to pass along, including a decision from you… First, I’m changing the color around the windows from dark tan to tan. The 1 x 1 with Stud on 1 Side (87087) comes in tan and not dark tan. A 1 x 1 x 6 Round with Square Base (43888) doesn’t come in tan or dark tan. I substituted three Round Pin Joiners without Slot (53293 / 75535), which only comes in tan and not dark tan. So, we're tan now, cool? Second, to create the look of window panes, I used an Ingot (13954 / 99563) in white. This part doesn’t come in white, only medium stone gray and several metallic colors. You can get a bunch of these (and they wouldn’t be that cheap, considering how many are needed) and paint them white, or go with any of the other approaches shown here. At the top is the original window in dark tan with the white ingots for window panes. The middle row shows 1 x 2 flat tiles in place of the ingots as well as two options using window panes. The bottom row shows several options using clear bricks and plates. I think the one on the bottom right is the cleanest--it uses 1 x 2 bricks without a bottom tube (3065) turned sideways. AND--these bricks are way cheaper than the ingots. Please let me know which of these windows you like best and I’ll update the entire mansion with whatever you choose.
  8. The video game seems to use a range of meshes, from ones that look exactly like the movie, to ones that are slightly modified for game play, to ones that match official LEGO sets (which may be scaled down from the movie), to ones that are completely different altogether (the train comes to mind). For me, it's interesting to see the different interpretations for different uses.
  9. Coffee shop? Yup, I've already made it. Just haven't posted it yet. Want me to post that one next?
  10. LDD seems to have a heirarchy for determining how to connect pieces based on viewing angle and number of stud connections, among other parameters. There are ways to influence that process. The easiest thing to do is to change the viewing angle. If you absolutely want one piece to go on top of a second piece, assuming studs-on-top construction, the closer the view is to a top-down view (directly over the second piece), the more likely you are to place a brick on top rather than underneath. I don't know whether LDD takes this into account, but it also seems to help if I right click the second piece to center on it as well as to zoom in closely on it. Something else to consider is whether or not there are any bricks hidden with the hide tool. If a hidden brick already exists on that second brick, LDD can't let you place another one there. Been there, done that... Unhide all bricks if needed. When all else fails, I force connections by eliminating any connections that I don't want to happen. For example, put one or more flat plates on top of the piece you are placing. That way, LDD can only place that piece on top because there are no possible connections underneath. I usually use this method when I'm trying to connect a large number of bricks to another large number of bricks. Happy building!
  11. Fantastic! The lighting takes this already awesome MOC to another level. Looking at the pics, I can hear the music from the movie...
  12. What great designs! And great outdoor photography.
  13. miahbrick33--that would be cool to see! Actor Builder--How about a physical build of a 16 lane Bricksburg highway packed with these vehicles at rush hour, complete with signs and on/off ramps?
  14. How many different types of vehicles does it take to create a traffic jam in Bricksburg? Exactly this many! Take these vehicles, duplicate them over and over while changing their colors, and you have yourself a Bricksburg rush hour. The bricks in front of each vehicle identify, to the best of my ability, the various colors in which the vehicles appear in the movie.
  15. If someone steps on the wrong pressure plate, the "statues" on either end step off their pedestals and attack... although rather poorly...
  16. Here's a rough first pass at the tower. Not everything is aligned correctly and the colors are nowhere near final. This is going to be interesting to figure out, since there are no clear views of it all the way around. Near as I can tell, though, the outside and the inside of the tower seem to match up in the show.
  17. There's nothing stopping you from trying it yourself. I find LDD handy for identifying parts and trying different approaches to a build until I find one that works. Once the design is finished in LDD, the real build goes very quickly. Even if all you build is the head, you'd end up with a really cool creation. If you like, I'd be happy to help out with any questions. Let me know!
  18. mediumsnowman--That would look cool next to your Ghostbusters HQ. I think for now, however, that once I finish the Scoob mansion, I'm going to stick to LEGO Movie subjects for a while. I have plenty more to do with this project and working on other themes takes time away from what I'm trying to accomplish here. I don't want to get too distracted from it. Speaking of which, the van in my last post shows up in several places in Bricksburg traffic. It's first seen in the "Hello, city" reveal shot that starts with Emmet on his balcony. The camera passes right over it. It shows up after that many times in traffic in orange and green as well. I have some upcoming renders that will show the Bricksburg vehicles and their various colors.
  19. What a great translation! It's an interesting challenge to shrink things down and keep as much detail as possible. gravrelcraw--I like that you included the Mystery Machine in with the Ecto Mobile. It's a great mash-up.
  20. Yes, it will still work. It's a bit late for me to suggest improvements in the LDD topic, though... :-)
  21. iang--Welcome to Eurobricks! Glad you posted. Chris Miller called it a "crazy mess of details." The more you look, the more you find. I sometimes enjoy just watching characters in the background. They each have their own silly walk or activity that they're doing. ActorBuilder--Those sides are always pesky...
  22. For the record: It doesn't matter to me what happens or doesn't happen in the sequel, as long as it keeps to the same good character-driven story telling of the first one. Any resemblance of the sequel to anything I say here, real or imagined, is purely coincidental. That being said... Do you think the real reason that we never saw a ghost version of Qui Gon Jin in any Star Wars sequel is that they were really just saving him to appear as a ghost in the LEGO movie sequel?
