What an impressive international collaboration! Those are some great mods to the standard sets.

Thanks, Actor Builder. I have to admit, I don't know much about missing links, but I do know "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish"...

In keeping with the construction site theme of Emmet's mech, this time I'm posting the heli-crane. As far as I can tell, it is exactly the same as the helicopter in the T-Rex Hunter set, with the exception of the bucket underneath (and of course, no dinosaur...). #__movie Construction Helicrane by Xon 67, on Flickr

BlackStar -- It's looking great--and nice job on the mixers. I also noticed that there were no holes in the ones on-screen, but didn't go beyond LDD for a (close) match. Great find. Now that I see that part, I remember at least one set it comes from. I'm curious to see if it's used elsewhere in the construction site on-screen. Also--my latest build is the last one I posted above. Feel free to merge files any time I post. :-) Miro--Thanks for posting something here! I found your photos online a while ago and have actually been using them for reference in my builds. They have been invaluable for several buildings that aren't shown very well on-screen. And, yes, that is the purple building I recall seeing in Finn's basement--the one next to the construction site (again, from your pics). I've wanted to visit the California park for quite some time--more so now that the basement set is on display there. Thanks for helping me see it! Do you get a chance to go to the park often? Actor Builder -- I have to admit--I'm curious about your "strength test of sorts." I have all kinds of visuals floating around in my head with that one. Each one sillier than the last...

Thanks, kibosh. I hope it stands up! Here's the waist. The red bricks are my suggestion of how to attach it to the body. I think that the dark red axle in the back has something else attached to it for more stability, but I can't tell for sure. I also can't tell how it's attached under the turntable, but that should be easy to do, even if we have to make up our own attachment. mech waist by Xon 67, on Flickr lxf file: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Xon67/Movie/_movie_emmetsmech_2015-11-07.lxf Overall, it looks sturdy enough to keep the body from leaning side-to-side, but I'm not sure how stable it is front-to-back. That's why I think there's something else on the axle in back to hold it steady. Build on!

JamPotStudios and Fuppylodders -- Thanks for the comments! Sometimes I think I spend more time staring at freeze-frames of the movie than I do actually building. Some of the builds can go pretty quickly. Emmet's mech is obviously an exception to that... Here are my latest updates. BlackStar: Go ahead and build how you want to. It's your build as much as mine. You'll want to take a look at the crane. It doesn't seem to be anchored very well. Also where the Technic beam connects half-way up the crane is most likely not going to work in a real build. I made it as close to the movie as I could, but there aren't very good shots of that area. I could be using incorrect parts. emmets mech - 2015-11-05 by Xon 67, on Flickr lxf file: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Xon67/Movie/_movie_emmetsmech_2015-11-05.lxf

Trainmaster247--Seems like Emmet and the Doctor already know each other. Now we know how Emmet squeezed that 50-stud-wide apartment into a 30-stud-wide building. _movie Emmets row Doctor final fixed by Xon 67, on Flickr Thanks to Letranger Absurde for the inspiration: Allons-y Alonzo! on Flickr

We may be able to support the wheels on the inside using some narrow beams (I've been knockin' that one around in my noodle just a bit...) The mech body idea sounds great. If you want to go ahead and work on the body more now, feel free to, since you seem to have it figured out. :-) In the meantime, I'm going to work on the arms, legs, and "shoulder pads". I'll post when I have some more on my pieces.

At Chubbs' request, here are some renders with the masonry brick in place of the grooved brick: The original "Green" Grocer: _movie green grocer bricks_ by Xon 67, on Flickr Other available colors for the masonry brick (and some variations in the window using the popular tan color): _movie green grocer colors dark tan by Xon 67, on Flickr _movie green grocer colors med dark nougat by Xon 67, on Flickr _movie green grocer colors dark gray by Xon 67, on Flickr _movie green grocer colors dark red med gray by Xon 67, on Flickr Here's Chubbs' idea of using the Arkham Asylum colors, dark red and dark gray (replacing the medium gray from above): _movie green grocer colors dark red dark gray by Xon 67, on Flickr

Lookin' good, BlackStar! Actor Builder--While I haven't completed the feet yet, the gears/wheels don't appear to be attached. The part colors (black/gray) depend on the scene: They are one color on the construction site and another color in downtown Bricksburg. This happens throughout the movie. I first noticed it on the Sea Cow. Depending on what the movie makers wanted to emphasize in a given shot, they changed brick colors and moved bricks around to get the best frame composition and tell the best story they could. The waist looks like it consists of a bunch of criss-crossed Technic beams. We'll have a good idea how well it works once we figure it out in our build.

Chubbs--Glad to help out. Hemlock Falls--I like the tan windows, too. It ties the tower into the windows on the middle floor and the striping around the top two floors.

I thought it would be an interesting exercise to render the Green Grocer in every color in which the grooved 1 x 2 brick is made. First, the original sand green version: green grocer colors 4 by Xon 67, on Flickr And the other colors: green grocer colors 1 by Xon 67, on Flickr green grocer colors 2 by Xon 67, on Flickr I also tried several different window colors when the building is in white. green grocer colors 3 by Xon 67, on Flickr Hope this helps!

No, I didn't see that rule in the movie, but it sure seems like it should be one of Lord Business' rules, doesn't it?

Just as the folks on the LEGO Movie took existing LEGO sets and modified them to make new variations for Bricksburg buildings, they also used their own creations and combined them in different ways to create other new buildings. This shows the re-use of two buildings not based on existing LEGO sets, where the walls and windows from one building (left) and the roof from another building (right) were combined to create a new building (middle). It's interesting to note that the buildings on either end had more screen time, and therefore have more physical variation throughout their construction. Whereas the building in the middle seems as if it was needed more for the background and has less physical details, yet it still provides additional variation for the buildings in Emmet's neighborhood overall. Actor Builder--This also explains where the white corners on this building come from--originally they were columns on either side of arched openings. As for the crosswalk, maybe Bricksburg citizens are just supposed to jump over the middle part... (Hopscotch, anyone? Oh, yeah, I forgot Rule # 24: Don't play in the street!) __movie MOC compare by Xon 67, on Flickr

VERY nice! The lights really add to the scene. The layout is top-notch, too. Looking forward to seeing more pics!

Okay Actor Builder, just so you don't have to wait long, here's another one. This one sits next to the hotel and across from Fresh Fruit on Emmet's street. #__movie rooftop garden 2 by Xon 67, on Flickr

Well, I don't think I've ever been someone's favoritest person ever. Currently. And how'd you know I like guacamole? Nope, the interior doesn't fit in the exterior. And I'm currently short on British sci-fi technology to make it fit.

BlackStar: Glad everyone's okay. No worries about the build--we have no schedule to complete it. Whenever you get something done on it, post it and I'll go from there. I've got plenty of other builds to work on in the meantime.

Hi Lego Dino 500--thanks for the comment! I haven't released all of my builds. The ones that I have released are on the first page of this topic. Elsewhere in this topic is a link to BlackStar's version of Emmet's apartment. Thanks for the youtube link. The version of the Sea Cow in the videogame is very different from the one in the movie. It's hard to find clear images of the entire ship. I'll keep looking...
