  1. I like the Volcano theme, about what I expected. I love all the tan hats I'll be getting. Looks like leaving the stickers off won't detract too much. I'll prob stock up on some lime green for additional buildings. Gas station is nice ill be grabbing that along with the park set. The airport theme doesn't interest me, maybe the stunt plane set for that hanger.
  2. https://amodularlife.wordpress.com/2010/06/12/modular-standards-for-lego-city-buildings/ I found this a while ago and bookmarked it. I haven't used it yet, but I like the idea of setting standards. The TL;DR of the article is just saying have fun with it and just keep the technic bricks in the same spot for connecting. Other things it doesn't go over that I have a list for things I'd like to keep consistent, i.e. sidewalk color/ height, car stud width, just using yellow minifigs, a certain theme of police uniform, etc.
  3. Even though it wasn't city sub theme per say, I had Arctic Research base in 2000, set 6575. I still have loads of the pieces. I really can't wait for the Volcano sets, I keep checking all my LEGO news resources every day looking for pictures.
  4. Hello Fellow Builders, I'm Sparks, 26, recently getting back into lego. I never really stopped, but it slowed from 17-25. I can't remember exactly what brought me back, but I dug my old Lego out of the closet. I was(am?) Big into Star Wars sets, and any other sets that peaked my interest. So my Lego collection isn't as vast as I'd like. I recently sorted the large bin I had into color zip lock bags ( and decently sized bins for grey, black, and white, the colors I have the most of) , a zip lock bag of random minifigs, and a base plate with all my clone/storm troopers lined up on them. That's about as far as I got. After watching some youtube videos from JangBricks, I come to appreciate lego town/city more. Mine might have a weirdly placed Clone base, but I'm still learning towards city life. Thanks in advance for welcoming me here, I hope to become an active member with my (future) MOCs.
  5. Not going to lie, after getting back into lego, I only have these type "90s old school" house pieces. After that it was nearly all Star Wars vehicle sets, until I quit. Now coming back, Town/City seams very interesting. I'm going to (eventually) order masse doors and windows from bricklink, so I can finally get started on my town. very careful cool houses. I see some towns/cities that don't look like there's enough residential living space for all the minifigs.
