[Software] LDD Manager
Daedalus304 replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'm running Vista and it works just fine! I tried the import brick list from Bricklink function (Using both Google Chrome and Firefox) and it works now! Thanks! To test it I imported the bricklist of the 4910 Hover Scout. There were a couple errors. The printed piece was omitted, obviously, but oddly enough part 3004 DID have a printing on it; while it's supposed to be blank. It has a small clockface on each end. Also, the 298c01(Bricklink)/ 73587 (Lego) part did not import. I'm assuming this is because the list has it assigned to be two colours? -
Finished my turn! I finished off the second floor (There was still a huge gap in there) and decorated it some, and then finished the wall of the third floor as well. It should be ready for a roof now; which I would have started (With my remaining 30 or so parts) but honestly... I have no experience building roofs for these sort of houses and didn't want to accidentally make something terrible for the roof-builders to have to deal with! Very interested to see how it keeps growing and progressing!

Hello everyone! I have been wanting to get my friend one of the Series 2 Spartans for christmas, and everywhere I look they are entirely sold out. I don't have much money or very much to trade, which is probably a turn away, but I figured I'd see what offers or help I could get. I looked on Bricklink already and most of the ones under $5 (In the USA) seem to be part of much larger super lots, which I can't afford. As it's a gift I would really prefer it if it was still sealed in it's bag. I'm sorry if I seem overly demanding or hard to work with here, but I don't have much to work with myself. I live in the western United States, if anybody would be willing to help me get this please either comment here or send me a PM with an offer or suggestion. Even just a tip on where to find one would be great, if nothing else. Good day to you all!

Hanging off the tube on that orange claw thing. -
What happens when you get a crazy concept idea? MOCs happen, that's what! I got a crazy idea that I really am not sure how to explain any way other than showing you the MOC I built as a result! You can click on any picture to see a larger version. I'm sorry about the distracting background/odd lighting in some of them, I had a hard time finding a good place to photograph it. New pictures have been added! Click here to see the whole batch on Brickshelf! As you can probably see, the engine system makes up most of the body. There are two inlets (With turbofans inside), which led to the "bent" engines running down the center of the craft. Then they meet together at the end, where they fuse together and share an afterburner! In this shot it almost looks like there are gaps between the body and the engine, but there is a black layer of SNOT in there helping hold the engines up and in place. The engines and afterburner ended up being fairly heavy, but it was hard finding a way to secure them because of the odd angles. Just thought I'd take a picture with a closer view of the engines. I always love designing cockpits, so I made sure to throw in a bunch of fiddly bits. I didn't really get a good picture of the seat, and in fact there are a lot of views and shots that I've missed. I'm going to get some more tomorrow when I have light to work with. There are a couple more pictures here on my Brickshelf (when moderated), and I will be uploading more later as stated above. There were a lot of tricky connections involved in this model so if anyone wants to know how I did anything, I'd be more than willing to get pictures of specific inner workings. I've added on some landing gear, finally. It's not retractable, unfortunately, but I think it at least looks pretty neat. The rear tire is on a swivel so it can turn, as well. LXF Added Download the LXF! I originally designed this model in Lego Digital Designer, then built it with physical bricks. I had to make a few adjustments in the physical model because of parts I didn't have or structures working out slightly different (Weight issue with the engine and tail mainly), but I should be able to update the LXF file to match this (Done). I know a lot of fellow AFOL don't like mixing old and new grays together, but I think there are cases where it's pretty nifty. I didn't manage to sneak as much old grey into this model as I would have liked, but there is some. I had originally been planning to theme the colours as if it had been built out of a variety of scrap metal and broken aircraft (Sort of a junky mad scientist style), but part colour limitations sort of scrapped that! Anyways, questions, comments, pic requests, critiques, and anything else you have to say is all welcome! Sorry about the lack of pictures, I'll hopefully get that fixed in short order.

I love it! All those extra parrots lined up and ready to use, too. Makes me wonder what will happen to all those fish. -
How to make this bit of stuff in LDD
Daedalus304 replied to Zeya's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It's in the category represented by a sideays U clip. You can just type 2436 in the search bar and it will find it for you, and if for some reason that doesn't work try searching for "Angle Plate". -

Daedalus304 replied to alienwar9's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
That was what I had originally been planning on building off of, actually, but I didn't have any solid ideas and the birdcage seemed like it would be fun to try. If nobody else gets around to it I might take a "Turn 2" much later to build it. -

Didn't quite go the route I expected at all, but I put a fun little thing in there. Turn 4 -
It's definitely fun and interesting to watch so far! Looking at the model so far I've had ideas for things to try doing, and there have been parts I've been curious to see what others will do with. I have one particularly fun idea that I'll have to wait and see if I get the chance to try, but even if I don't - it's LEGO! There will always be more to build. I can't wait to see how it develops next!

I saved examples from both Firefox and Chrome for you, which are in this .zip file. They're both of the same set (Thought maybe that could be useful). I'd have gotten one from Opera too, if I had that browser. BricklinkInv.zip -

I forgot to mention it before, but I did want to say - thanks for making this program and being so helpful with it all around, Superkalle. It's very helpful and useful. -

I tried it with both IE and Firefox, and it works with IE7 but not Firefox. I guess I'll just use IE to import the lists for now then, until other browsers work with it. Thanks for the help! -

I tried what you suggested and my Copy-Paste function doesn't seem to want to work correctly. When I paste the fully-highlighted list the only thing in each row that shows up is "Yes", without any of the brick information. Trying to run it regardless simply gives me an error, as well. I did go and verify that I copied all the correct data by pasting my Ctrl+V into a text document, that had all the part names and numbers. I'm not sure why my computer doesn't seem to want to paste them correctly into LDD Manager. Sorry about all this trouble, I don't mean to cause a mess. -

I can't seem to get the Bricklink Inventory import to work. I went to a bricklink inventory page, set it to "no images", and scroll-selected the entire inventory with my mouse. When I try and paste that though, it says "The text is too long to be edited". I tried going through and copy/pasting each row individually, but that brings up a "parts not recognized" error when I click "Go" and imports none of them. I'm not sure what I'm doing incorrectly, but some help would be much appreciated. As for other information that may be helpful, I'm running Vista 32 bit and I use Google Chrome as my browser (Though I'm not sure if that would effect anything?). Thanks! -
MOC: Large Transport Truck
Daedalus304 replied to Daedalus304's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the kind words everyone, I'm glad you all seem to enjoy it! Me too! Rock Raiders had very neat colours, and the teal always managed to be eye catching without being too overwhelming, IMO. Thank you! This was one aspect that I was really hoping to capture when making this, I'm glad it seems to have worked out how I was hoping. That's one of the things that I think always appealed to me about the Rock Raiders theme, most of the vehicles seemed pretty rugged and durable. Seems fitting for miners to have tough machines! The large vehicles in the game were always somewhat slow, but with this much carrying room I think it makes up for that! Thanks, I appreciate it! I haven't played much of the PS1 game but the PC one's been something I still enjoy playing occasionally to this day. A few weeks ago I studied the in-game models and built all the ships and buildings in LDD - certainly helped ingrain the building/decoration style I'd imagine! I'd be interested to see your RR MOCs, have you posted them here? -
Here's a couple more. 6942 Space Sled - Theme: Insectoids Download the LXF! Printed parts left blank (Except the face, couldn't bear to leave him blind), and either due to illegal building techniques or improper brick geometry two of the "leg" pieces won't connect where they should. I have them just sort of floating right underneath their proper spot, so all the parts are there. 4980 Tunnel Transport - Theme: Rock Raiders Download the LXF! Missing prints, had to use substitute bricks for both the cockpit and it's rollbar. The magnet holders are entirely missing so the magnets are just set aside. The rest should all be correct and dandy though.

Hey all! I've always loved the Rock Raiders, and today I've got a MOC to show that I really hope fellow RR fans enjoy! (And all the rest of you too, of course!) In the game, there was a very wide variety of vehicles, but never any large-vehicle equivalent of the Small Transport Truck. We did have the Tunnel Transport, but I can imagine there's many cases a big helicopter just isn't practical! The vehicle has big wheels and a powerful engine (I admit it, I stole the Chrome Crusher's! ) so that it can transfer any size load. The Large Transport Truck has a modular cargo hold so it can carry a wide variety of things all over the caves, and the strong bars over the top make sure you can transport anything, anywhere, safely. In this picture it's got the module for carrying Rock Raiders, which also has a tool stand. Can we just blow it up, before you break another saw? It also has a large container for carrying large amounts of ore and crystals, or even just rocks! As you can see here, leaving out the modules also leaves plenty more open space so if something is just too large for the container, you can still fit it in and transfer it. This is of course the cockpit. Multiple view screens so they can see in front of and behind the vehicle, and two steering wheels... just because. Perhaps the second one controls the modules? Maybe it's to add to the ambidexterity of the vehicle? Who knows! Personally I think I may have gone a bit overboard in there, since it's pretty full compared to the rest of the RR cockpits, but gosh darn-it I had fun designing it and I don't think it's that bad! You can see larger versions of these pictures (And one or two that I haven't posted) here, once moderated. Until then, I'll hide them here in a spoiler tag so you don't have to scroll past them. With the Container Module in place. Side view of the vehicle (With Tool/Raider Transfer Module) With this MOC I could've gone a lot of ways, but mostly I wanted to try and create a vehicle that fit the style, theme, and spirit of Rock Raiders. Whether or not I succeeded I suppose is up to the viewer, but personally I'm really happy with it! I think I went a little overboard with the inside of the cockpit; but oh well! I designed a prototype mainly with Lego Digital Designer, and then made a few alternatives when I moved to physical bricks. As far as that goes, I made sure to stick to parts and techniques used in the era/theme. Most of the design time was spent on the style of the vehicle, actually, since in build and function it is pretty simple. I'm still quite new to posting MOCs, so if anybody would like more (Or less? ) pictures, let me know and it'd be easy to take some! I can also provide an LXF file for LDD4 if anyone wants it, but that one doesn't look as nice (I had to build a lot of alternatives thanks to omitted parts in LDD)

LDD Community Build?

This sounds like it'd be a lot of fun, I'd love to participate. -
13646 didn't return any sets, and neither did 64631. However, 6463-1 on Peeron returned this cool set. Which I am quite happy with. I always wanted this set, perhaps now I should hunt it down and get it.
