  1. Looks like theres lots of nice new elements in these - and so many in lovely dark tan too! However I'll probably only buy some of these for the new minifigs, animals and accessories (that new head-warp is truly awesome ) , which means mainly picking up the smaller sets and saving big-set purchases for other themes.
  2. SOLD! Woah! Can't believe I missed this 'til now. Luckily I picked up on someone's comment in the PoP license thread and hit these up on Flickr... ...and wow! am I glad I did. Black Dragons and Lion knights... superb! These new sets look really, really nice, and I like the way LEGO have given a big nod to the classic-castle sets of yesteryear. You guys...! The new minifigs look sweet; amongst the great new helmed knights and archers, it looks like the Black Dragon's get an impulse wizard and the Lion's a jester - going by the nice new colour schemes of course. Couple together with lots of new parts and accessories (love the uni-horn horse protection ) and LEGO are onto a winner here.
  3. All this UK set news is giving me hope that the Toys'r'Us near here will have some of the new releases too. I'll be sure to report on what I find! That old bean eh? I wish I knew a TRU shop assistant so I could get inside info.
  4. August 2010 line-up looks interesting. Some of the sets are a little too close to their older counterparts, some of the minifig choices seem random. I'm very happy with the new Jedi we're getting, especially Aayla Secura! Joy! Can't wait to see better pictures. 8089 - Hoth Wampa and Hoth Luke, very cool! Another snowspeeder... er... whee? Got a fair few of them now... Nevermind, a great set nontheless. On a side note Luke's gloves should be white surely? Not the first colour issue I've seen in the recent and forthcoming sets... 8093 - It's okay but what clearly puts a dampener on this set is the wrong blue. LEGO? I still feel the new Lanspeeder should've been earth orange where it's tan... 8095 - I'm happy LEGO are doing a new treatment of Grievous, dying to see what he looks like now. Figure choice does seem a bit off on this one - if LEGO are including Nahdar in this set, surely it would've made sense to also include Kit Fisto, his master, as in Lair of Grievous? The ship looks waaay too preliminary to comment on! 8096 - Looks very acuurate - nice - but again, figure choice seems way off. Vader is fair enough for recreating that scene, a clone pilot too, but it should've defo had 2 royal senate guards included. LEGO? 8097 - Looks virtually the same as the last version of Slave I, including play features. Figure selection looks great, eager to see new Boba Fett and Bossk. 8098 - Looks virtually the same as the last version of Clone Tank, albiet with new (and still not exactly accurate) wheels. Figure selection looks awesome though. Purely because we're getting Aayla So I'm feeling a little disappointed with a lot of the 2010 line-up, and what appears to be near copies of older sets. I understand it gives those new to LSW a chance to get these specific vehicles again, but surely there's enough creative spectrum and budget to offer everyone new and exciting takes on these awesome vehicles rather than just rehashing or improving on older sets? Al least there's still some new, previously unseen sets to get. I'll surely make those my first choice for purchase
  5. Great pictures, thanks very much! This theme always looked like it'd have so much to offer in terms of new minifigs - much akin to the Indy theme. Some of them are just oustanding! Coupled with that great new animal and some really interesting new parts - new gold dome? Hello! Look forward to seeing these on the shelves! Defo looks like it in 7572. Superb!
  6. These are just outstanding... it's hard not to imagine buying a whole box of these. There's so many nice features and parts with these - those new hair pieces are fantastic - so many uses and collectibility besides! I finally picked the Forestman for my vote, he totally reminds me of the Green Arrow with his goatee and debonair grin! Was hard choosing when the quality of all these is so high. Can't wait to get my hands on these!
  7. Cheers for the great review CLone O'Patra and thanks for letting us see how they look as normal LEGO army men too. This set is a superb army builder for anyone wanting a green-fatigued soldiers and that's pretty much all I see it as! I'm not particularly interested in any of the other Toy Story sets but will surely pick this up for that reason.
  8. Funny that, being my character, I'd not long finished reading Matter!
  9. You'll probably have to get used to it. I can see this change being reflected through all the characters whenever they next appear. Personally, I still welcome it. Seeing as LEGO seems to be going all out with new prints, moulds, etc. it'll mean nice, updated versions of the characters and probably multiple versions of a given character i.e. a Luke for each stage in the O.T. Maybe more double-sided heads too. As much as anything this'll add to the variety of minifigs we have and also add potential for customs. That can only be a good thing! Don't fear change. Without change something sleeps inside... the sleeper must awaken!
  10. Many thanks for the review KimT! I'm totally sold on this, really like the Freeco and LEGO's version of it. Great little model, nice details, subtle greebling - the stickers do add to the set on this one too. Very swooshable. Nice enough figure selection aswell; cold weather Anakin looks great (mouth a little Homer Simpson-esque under that balaclava though) and it's cool to get an extra alien in Thi-Sen.
  11. You can't please all the people all the time! Why use 2 1x1 cheese slopes when you can use 1 1x2 cheese slope?! They'll come in damn useful to me. Some great new parts in this set, not that I'd want to dismantle it if I owned it... it is rather nice. Come to think of it KimT, I thought you hoarded MISB LEGO sets? Or is this just one of the 5 or so copies you bought?!
  12. Personally I really like the new faces. It's about time LEGO updated the 'ole Star Wars ones in light of some of the brilliant faces we've seen on offer for other themes, especially the Indy theme. There's a couple of my Han Solos been sporting stubble and Leia looking a little like Marion Ravenwood for a while now as the faces are so much better designed and have loads more character. I can't wait to see the new LEGO heads for our favourite characters which is surely to come. To add to C.C.Delta7's comment it's called a highlight. People have also been referring to them as pupils which is clearly wrong! I think this change defo for the better. As has been mentioned here it'll introcuce some diversity too with many of us having duplicate characters. At least it's not as ground-shaking as the change for yellow to flesh heads!
  13. My character profile: Nurse Edna Hyrlis "After a wild and party-filled youth with plenty of sexual adventures you eventually sobered up after running away from your home planet fleeing debt and angry ex-boyfriends/girlfriends. You managed to get through nurse school and found a comfortable position aboard the Gagarin as part of the medical staff. You are not infected. You win when all those pesky alien infected no-goods have been thrown out an airlock or otherwise disposed of. You have no night actions." Hence me reminiscing on ex-girlfriends/boyfriends, playing a damsel in distress, and trying to get people to trust me with my feminine guiles! Just wondering Quarryman: what fate befell the traitor Ivan? Would it have been a disturbing scene where the infected gather round and he willingly let's them force a wiener inside him?
  14. Great review KimT, thanks very much. This is a nice improvement over the original LEGO 7259 ARC-170; the curved nose and larger engines are much more accurate and it looks like the wings, thought still weak, may be more stable. I'd like to experience or see first hand how well the wing deploying feature works. Is it as shaky and cumbersome as it was on the original? I'm hoping not. I really like the new figures. The clone pilots are lovely (I'm bemused as everyone about including Kit Fisto instead of another clone pilot, as nice a figure that he is) with those superb new helmets and nice printed details. R4-P44 is great too! Still debating whether I'll get this or not. There are a lot of great sets on the horizon and I've got so much unbuilt LEGO at the moment I may have to restrict my purchases... maybe.
  15. Many thanks for the review Brickster... and highlighting again the ineffectiveness of the Empire against small bands of rebels! The new figures are superb, beautifully detailed; I can't wait to add some of these to my army. I love the inclusion of a decent speeder bike too. It's about time they included one of these - like the ones we find in the larger sets - in a battle pack. It's not specifically Veers, rather an Imperial Officer in cold weather gear. I'm more than happy to have several of these guys commanding my snowtroopers and vehicles. Battle pack WIN!
  16. OH-KNOES! Death by wiener @ss-blaster!!! You guys had us running around in circles for ages... and we were only to happy to oblige! Congratulations on a triumphant win wieners, the universe will suffer a horrible sausage-stuffed fate at your meaty appendages! Many thanks for all the effort and organisation you've put into this Quarryman, we all appreciate it and I've truly enjoyed it being my first Mafia game and all. Now... next time.... can I get a power? Other than my strikingly beautiful looks? Way to go, pseudo-traitors!
  17. Great review Darkfader, thanks for taking the time to do it. I like that they've started updating the new faces with highlights to their eyes (they're not pupils), it adds more character to them like the Indy sets. The new helmets look grand and i like the new torso prints too: shame they couldn't have spared a new print for the Officer... nevermind. I guess as Zzz suggested it would've been nice to have printed legs, but these Battle Packs are on a limited budget. I'm happy with the new helmets, new head prints, new torso prints - that's a lot of new! Plenty enough for £9.79, as they'll most likely be.
  18. Will this night never end?!!!
  19. Nice! Beautiful mental picture there. Wonder what the oceans are like on the Aphranti homeworld...
  20. My suspicions of Ivan remain but I'll grant him this respite. I can see it's highly probable that throughout this all we've been manipulated by an even bigger wiener. As such I want tounvote: Ivan / Darth Legois. Instead I'll vote: Michael Sheridan/Hinckley. I'm sorry Michael but your ability to sway others is dangerously suspicious. I hope this is the right choice.
  21. SOLD! Just love that speeder, Barriss Offee is beautiful! Can't wait to see all the extra Jedi LEGO must surely have in store. Cheers for the pic Fumoffu! New landspeeder pics do look great, though I'm not sure it's an essential purchase for me. Still reckon it should've been predominantly earth orange in colour too.
  22. Looking at the Swamp Speeder photos again I reckon it could be a new version of the phase two Clonetrooper. I do like the old version, but I'd prefer fully printed ones. Those look ace, must-buys all of them! And a named character in a Battle Pack too... that definately makes a change...
  23. Thanks for the pic Fumoffu! Looks like a great take on the Swamp Speeder, really nicely detailed. And it definately looks like Barriss Offee there! Maybe that means her master Luminara will be reappearing in another set? Would've been good to have an extra Clonetrooper to pilot the speeder, but I'm sure most will have plenty spare
  24. Thanks for the links, pics, etc. Does look like a really cool take on the 'Defender and I love the new TIE pilot. It's nice to see that LEGO are really going to town with all the new Star Wars figures we've seen recently! I'm not sure if this new TIE's on my priority list though... and I really need to get around to building my other recently aquired sets first!
  25. Top work again Lars, and by far your cutest CubeDudes to date! I guess with his hood colour he could also be Paploo? I checked out the rest of you lineup too: I especially like Darth Maul. The detail on his head - tattoos, horns - look ace and I love his menacing grin! Theyr'e all superb though dude, great fun.
