I don't drop by this forum much but just wanted to wish a warm congratulations to the three winners! All outstanding entries, but BMW, you deserve the 1st prize for that amazing creation - its so full of detail and charm you can't help but love it! Well done everyone

Nice story and concept for an MOC Torax. I really like your Ampy custom figure too. If anything it'd be cool to see the scene fleshed out with some more undulating ground and some of the black cliff sections replaced with shades of bley. I'm sure you refine it as time goes by!

Thanks guys! I quite like how this little MOC turned out and so built a second. Soon to have a third after my contest win! When I egt the chance I'm going to order some white visors off Bricklink to complete the look of my Rebel engineers.

Impressive sight dude! Love all your little details and little light-hearted touches too. Looks like this takes up a lot of room... I'm going to put some shelves up for some of my diplay but doubt I'll have nearly as much space as this... Good work!

Superb review Big Cam! One of my favourite sets and for many of the reasons you've talked about. Your pictures are spot-on and present the set in the light it deserves! 2006 was an excellent year for Star Wars LEGO, many of my most beloved sets come from thiat year. There were only a couple of minor touches I didn't like about Jabba's Sailbarge and quickly modded - I removed the deck catapult, and created the plating along the lower edge with more tiles and modified tiles rather than using the stickers. I also added tentacles to the Sarlacc, and altered the base of the Skiff.

Another Clone Walker battle pack. More Clones, more parts for MOCs! Think I'm going to have to get another Assassin Droids battle pack too - need more of the droid bodies in black. Either that or Bricklink I had a great idea for PTV but don't have the parts I need or time to source 'em. I'll wait 'til next time I reckon. It's funny how a Bricklink order can start off small.... and before you know it...!!!

They're MOCs from top to bottom! Can't really rebuild my originals at the moment. Nevermind! Indeed! Boo! I've never played Battlefront actually. I'm just basing my information from the films, books and other games. Wookiepedia has info on them and there's a basic entry for them OG-9 in the Star Wars TCG game here compared to the stats of the AT-TE. The term 'Homing' comes from the main laser which continually focuses or homes it's beam on it's target, decimating shields, armour etc. Anyway it's looking like a CIS army may be the best bet for me, with a large majority of my Republic army air based or MOC'd!

I've read through the rules ADHO, nice work! You've put a lot of thought into this. There may be a few kinks but I'm sure these will get ironed out during play. I'm actually off on holiday this Friday/Saturday 'til after the following weekend. Will I still be able to play afterwards? Unfortuntely my armies may not be quite as large as I'd hoped given your set restrictions... I may have a wee bit of a problem! My AT-RTs and BARC speeders although the same units are all MOCs! The official sets have all been 'digested' I also have a couple of Z4-Zs - but these were used by the Republic in the Clone Wars too? Mine (piloted by Clones) come from 2 x 7139 Ewok Attack. I think my army may end up being quite small! Additionally looking at the statistics for the OG-9 it seems a bit underpowered - considering they're almost an equivalent to the Republics's SPHAs. Their anti-vehicle capabilities meant they destroyed scores of AT-TEs during the Battle of Geonosis. I'm happy to go along with your statistics of course but it doesn't look like they could destroy much with that low attack score - other than the odd couple of infantry units! @ Jammiedodger - some armies! Hope you can find someone with an equivalent enough army to play against!

Yo ADHO, this looks very interesting! If I join in would I be able to use my AV-7? Or any other MOC of non released canon droids or vehicles i.e. crab droids, ASN assassin droids, etc? Can heroes be mounted on BARCs or other speeder bikes?

Ach, curses! 1364... nothing! Not so much a set or piece. I'd take a photo frame or even a Belville fairy's dress over nothing any day Great to see what everyone else's numbers have come up with though... lucky people!

Great post magicm - it's interesting to read everyone's process. I mostly MOC Star Wars vehicles, so tend to know exactly what I'm building beforehand. I use reference from blueprints or images - easily found in books or on t'internet in databases such as Wookieepedia or through searches - or watch segments from the films where the vehicles are featured. Sometimes I'll start building one thing and find the technique I'm using suits something better so will end up building something else. When building original vehicles on a small scale I'll just experiment and see where it takes me. Larger builds I'll have a good idea of what I'm trying to do but may sketch out some parts. I may also be inspired by certain designs I've seen elsewhere. Usually I'll start building using any piece in any colour that I can find - almost like a sketch. When the model is complete I'll go back and replace the odd coloured parts with more approproate colour coordinated pieces. I've got a fair bit of LEGO at my disposal, but if there are specific parts I need I'll temporarily borrow them from other models while I put a small order on Bricklink for new parts. The wonder of LEGO is that you can quite happily disassemble a model and rebuild it at a later time! I don't use any software to build digital models... I like to be hands-on with my creations. I may experiment with programs in the future though

Great battle pack Bob, really good fun! I can see potential for a range of these; you've got the Death Star bureaucracy battle pack; now what about Death Star Amenities battle pack, with toilets, shower room, etc? Maybe a Death Star Canteen battle pack with Jeff Vader, catering assistant, tray and penne alla arrabiata!

I think KimT's just hypothesizing there based on the other Brickmaster books.

Awww, you guys! You've made my weekend! Thanks so much to everyone who voted for me, I've really appreciated all your great comments and feedback throughout the contest and feel honoured by your casting votes in my favour. You're stars! I wasn't sure at all how well I'd do in this contest, with so many great entries it was a very level playing field in my opinion. There were some truly superb entries there, everyone did really well and I thought anyone could have won really. Aw... I'm totally stoked! Warmest congratulations to Mos, and to Oky who I cast one of my votes for and definately deserves a prize. Very nice work both of you! Thanks too to KimT for devising another fantastic competition with such great prizes; you're a legend! I'll send a PM shortly dude. I think thats a compliment - cheers! Like Oky, this will be my second. I'm trying to win my way to create a crack squad of EB stormies! It may take some time of course... And yet again it's been an absolute pleasure taking part. Thanks again everyone!

This would make a wicked set Bobskink! Your custom minifigs look ace - I'd love a 4-LOM minifig and I don't think there's been enough Bespin guards in sets. I have a whopping 1 guarding the whole of my Cloud City (but it's been overrun by the Empire anyway ) so would be glad to see more available. Your flying vehicle is cool too, very Star Wars-esque. Nice work and good luck!

Nah, I think that makes good sense Millacol. It wouldn't stop a new member from entering, just voting. Besides they'd have a chance to vote in other contests from that point on so they really wouldn't be missing out a great deal. Furthermore, when it comes to voting it might be worth setting a minimum post count, like 10 or something, just in case someone has several friends with dormant accounts. Just a thought...

My wife and I have a Hallowe'en party every year! :skull: It isn't specifically horror themed so last year I went as Popeye, the year before Alex from A Clockwork Orange, and the year before that a zombie pirate! No idea what I'm going to dress up this year, though I'm dabbling with the idea of going as Jedi. I've got a Force FX lightsabre so that's a start! The year I dressed up as a zombie pirate some we scared the hell out of some kids who came to the door; we'd kept the hall light off so the door opened to darkness. We suddenly switched the light on and ROARED at these kids (my wife was a scary witch doctor). It was classic! The kids proper jumped out of their skins! They were fine though, and we gave them lots and lots of sweeties to take away - hopefully not any nightmares

Aye, fire her out of a cannon into space! Just occured to me ILikePi... with all these polls of what we'd like you to do next... it's like we're controlling your destiny! -
Never let it be said that you do things by halves KimT I'm not too familiar with these Brickmaster sets, the prospect of a Star Wars one sounds intriguing!

Great work shaddow! You've captured Sonic perfectly - and in bioncle parts too! Those are like another language to me Who's next? Robotnik?

LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary Event Overview

Thanks for the coverage ILikePi, your photos are really good. It looked like a grand day out! I love seeing groups of Stormtroopers and other cosplayers attending events like this, it adds to the excitement - the lad in the 5th photo looks totally in awe getting to hold the female Jedi's lighsaber! I often attend Memerobilia at Birmingham's NEC and there's always squads of Stromtroopers there happy to get involved with the attendees (see my profile pic ). I've never seen someone dressed as Commander Gree though - his costume is totally awesome! I've never seen those dark bley tiles in PaB when I've been at stores either, I would've so filed a cup with them. And to top it all off you got some cool booty too - nice one! -
Congratulations Dragonator, a well deserved appointment! And a shiny new badge under your name too
-
A non-AFoL friend sent me a link to the CubeDudes. I was surprised I'd never seen them before! These look great Lars! I like your parts choice for Leia's bikini - inspired! Boush Leia looks ace too; you've captured the look of the helmet perfectly and I like the little touches too like her ammo belt and thermal detonator. Nice work! Got any other CubeDudes planned?

After another look at the new photo I'm thinking the black pauldron might be a new molded part. It looks like it's more accurate in shape and comes out an angle similar to the real thing. If you look at the Bricklink image here - or inspect your own minifig - you'll notice that the cloth pauldron hangs right down over the arm. Either way, I'm happy with a cloth pauldron, but if it is a molded part - and similar plastic to the clone accessories - I'd be a happy man

Really nice mod - it's great to see the AT-TE in action! Putting power function into anything makes it that bit more awesome By the looks of it the middle legs aren't motorised so provide a handy function as stabilisers. It works a treat in the movies! However based on the lumbering speed of the motorised AT-AT I think this is moving at actual speed. Anything quicker and it might shake apart!
