  1. 1965-1969 Chevy Corvair also comes to mind. Or the Mighty Car Mods oil-leaking, exloding "moon buggy" - based off the VAG beetle of course.
  2. Absolutely stunning model, the small deatils like the headlight-mounted turbo intake are cherries on top of the beauty of the car . The wave shape of the splitter look fantastic as well, and the vented hood adds to the sporty feel a lot, probably would look great in a black to mimic carbonfiber tuner-style one. The panelling work is very well done too, doesn't look cluttered or messy and just flows very well showing the shapes of the car (even the Porsche wheelarches are well-integrated). IMO the back looks great with the system parts, technic ones would probably exaggerate/change the shapes too much. Personally don't mind non-original parts at all as there's no point to limit oneself to whatever colours a company gives us, since those parts exist in "official" inventory. Also makes the model more affordable to build. And well, if there end up being instructions created I'd gladly buy them as this is one of my favourite cars .
  3. Mechanism design defect on my side (⌒_⌒;) Just how levers work and such, input requires some force to move, therefore it just snaps from one side to another on the output side. Probably will end as another unfinished TC entry of mine looking at how it is going (≧▽≦) Really struggling to make a mechanism to open the headlights from the interior, right now they open just by hand
  4. Thanks)) Rotated the assembly again as the steering was a mess to route with the assembly invading passenger space, now there's a decent axle input for switching gears, only problem is that there's no neutral, could be fixed with a smooth connector instead of rigged one I guess, but then there would be nothing keeping the clutch engaged in gears, so this is a small sacrifice for the better. Of course, this is yet again just a proof of concept (#>_<)
  5. Thanks for the idea @Go-Kart , your Trabant is definitely a marvel in itself aswell, several failed attempts on lever mechanism later I ended up rotating the assembly 180 degrees by your suggestion . Side-effect of this are more than positive actually, will be able to place an exhaust manifold mock-up as well as the engine is now slightly beside the front axle which is more "realistic". Now to organise the atrociously disgusting colour mess and move towards the rear of chassis (ノ≧∀≦)ノ
  6. Thanks, should be strong enough with the back frame, sop far stronger than the suspension version. The, 3 cyl wasn't cutting it and lego chains aren't very strong - now a proper "VTEC JUST KICKED IN YO" 4 banger is being placed together with a sturdier construction. Might try to replicate the aforementioned Civic, but a tuned up unbranded hatch seems more within my skills. The gear connections are LDD legal and work better than the chain, albeit the whole mechanism has a bit of resistance because of the rubber belt being a tad small for the distance it covers. Ideally the engine should be 1 stud backwards than the current position, but the diff won't allow it. (the frame fixed with turquoise connectors is temporary, the two 15L beams will be moved one stud back as well once I sort out the mechanics)
  7. I think normal size wheels can fit perfectly within 15 studs without axles pulling out of diff, just not with that axle design from TLG, try part #15461 instead. Bodylines looking promising so far though. .
  8. Well, independent suspension was proving dificult to work with, went a simpler way. Just engine and 2-speed gearbox on a FWD hot hatch. Dimensions from an ED Civic, Front bumper will go where the 7L half-beam sits right now. Working proof of concept, needs colour organization and a gearbox lever linkage. Ratios are 1:1'5 and 1:1, sped up about 1:3 afterwards using the belt.
  9. As much as I hate the design of the real Sian, these MK model looks like a lego set to me, if not the final production version, but a prototype that could have slipped away more than definitely. Making specialized panels like these may seem weird, but the VAG Group could've easily pushed some stuff here and there, only viable alternative for these bodylines otherwise would be a predominant use of flexaxles, something that (unfortunately) TLG seems to be avoiding in favour of panels and Land Rover had unique wheelarches as well - strange looking ones too. Motorization-wise, of course TLG would never do it, but there have been a few RC mods for Bugatti and Porsche, and if you can produce lego knockoffs or sets, adding some electrics would not be a problem, specially considering the less child-proof control these have to undergo. Imo green version looks somewhat better, I'd love to see a reintroduction of metallic green (pls?), or just not Defender green at least
  10. Now to get 35185&65413 gears in black as well
  11. edited first post as well Video: Cya!
  12. Well, not a cleaver, but new new 12T half-width gear seems to be made from a softer material, as I could score it quite deep with a fingernail. (the older one also gets scored, but much less, new one is veeery soft). The "antique"? grey gears I wasn't able to create visible scratches with nails, as they are made from much harder and therefore brittle material. So we went from brittle gears to very soft gears. This would explain why I started getting "chewed up" gears instead of broken ones.
  13. Imo the only good thing I see about 42108 is that they used a yellow 3x11 panel instead of the awful use of colour stickers on black panels like in 42089 and 42094 from last year (wtf TLG???) Otherwise it would probably have been more interesting on a shorter 6-wheel base but with a fake motor and a B-model. But oh well
  14. Wow, amazing looking, and even more impressive considering the very limited inventory!
  15. Simultaneous control of all faunctions via the removal of the distribution box. https://www.jurgenstechniccorner.com/index.php/instructions/39-uleimate-8043-building-instructions Also, 8043 came out in 2010, there's no way it had V2 receivers from factory, as those were introduced in 2012 with the 9398 crawler
  16. I am generally dissapointed of the direction Technic is going - just a very expensive and missing on fine details shelf model or a kids toy. In a company's view yes it is great, more kids can play with Technic with the colour vomit classification of parts/functions, more non-lego/technic fans buy sets with the licensed stuff, but I am yet to see a 8070 alternative - White Porsche didn't even get close to it despite having more parts and being same scale. Yes, new parts are cool, but sometimes I'd rather see a revamp of old useful part than a trillionth wheelarch in another shade of blue or unique colour. And IMHO B-model adds to the value, no way I am paying 100 euro for a half-baked crane which only has one model. At least include some "inspiration" photos in the instructions as in old technic idea books and such. I understand that TLG has to stay afloat, but... it starts to remind me of Apple in many ways...
  17. Installed one m-motor for drive with 20:12 gearing and another for steering. All powered by BuWizz V1. The roof and rear mudguard is mock-up. Fun to drive, can pull a wheelie if switching from reverse to forward drive due to hign center of gravity. Probably would do donuts with a V2 Buwizz.
  18. Beautiful supercar! Very interesting way to use those parts for spoiler tips, looks really good. The flexaxles bodywork is superb, something I really miss in technic nowadays as everyone is trying to use as many panels as possible, there's something so charming about being able to see all the insides, specially when it's a red+black contrast, exquisite looking imo. My only remark is the flat hood, maybe a 1 stud difference from tip to windshield would look better.
  19. Here's a small engine from July last year: And improved version: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/LXF/fakeengine/micro_engine_by_syclone.lxf
  20. Excellent set, must buy even if as a parts pack. Would've preferred to see a rerelease of the beautiful wheels from 8420 but these aren't bad as well. The front springs seem to be very weak from the video, 95292c01 still unreplaceable Interesting solution with the windscreen
  21. Артём, вам нужно использовать другую платформу для фото-хостинга, не загружай фото на сам форум Евробрикс. Рекомендуется Фликр, Бриксейф или Брикшелф. Interesting base for MOC, albeit not my fav version of RX-7
  22. @zux Suspension has positive caster angle, hence why it looks to be compressed. It compresses a little with a full AA battery box , and since there's no electronics in this contest ¬_¬ , it'll be quite light - specially with the way I build my models (flexaxles&holes FTW). I now have an idea on how to place a diff into the front as well instead of parallel drivetrains 0_o
  23. Ditched the ribbed hose because it was too tall and not as good as springs. Used rubber connectors instead and now the chassis is only one stud higher than wheel, engine will be moved to the back. I am not sure whether 1 diff between the two drivelines will be alright or the axles need a diff each, but now I'm happy with front, need to figure out something with rear that won't affect the glorious ground clearance. Also in mind is doing something similar to ZBLJ's supercar drivetrain, where each side is separate. this would allow to place two longitudional differentials driving a motor each.
  24. Short video with taped rear wheels
  25. Thanks for feedback everyone ^-^ @vascolp & @BusterHaus TLG has different versions of corrugated hose from what I see, the newer one is shorter than 2L, is made from softer material and the corrugated rings are thinner. Old one on top, new one on bottom: Comparison video: @Rudivdk Indeed, eagle eyed find ;) Progress from today: Chassis is again temporary solution, below renderings from LDD with most permanent stuff in fixed positions. I am thinking of placing the V6 transversely for some extra fun challenge. I used antennae round base to support the "crankshaft" on the front of the engine.
