That is a glitch I seem to be fighting with everytime I import a model into the same project... :( I tried and tried to get them all level but for some reason a few of my models refuse to touch the base of the canvas.... the rendering took about 15 mins I'll make a few more and try to fix the base problem and post the result, as of now though I have had that problem ever since the 4.3 update last year, it does it to my train tracks sometimes too.

i switched it to the higher Anti-Alias settings This one without high AA settings and some reason the lighting messed up.
-
I see it now, i'll try it and I'll post the result. Thanks so much for the help so far! I got the zoom fixed atleast :D getting there :) SUCCESS!!! :) Thank You so much!! (not sure if the rough studs are supposed to look that rough though but I like! The lighting is so much more realistic than POV Ray

so like this? :) i am very sorry I am not good at coding at all, the only type of coding I ever have done is HTML lol } image { % 1:1 #resolution 100 100 false #resolution 300 300 false #resolution 500 500 false #resolution 1000 1000 false % 4:3 #resolution 256 192 false #resolution 512 384 false #resolution 640 480 false resolution 1024 768 false #resolution 2048 1536 false % 16:9 #resolution 320 180 false #resolution 640 360 false #resolution 1024 576 false #resolution 1280 720 false #resolution 1920 1080 false #resolution 2560 1440 true aa 0 1 #aa 1 2 filter mitchell } camera { type pinhole transform row %LDDCAMERA% fov 1 aspect %ASPECTRATIO%

Ok I tried setting the parameters tab resolution, didn't work, I found these lines but there is more than a few resolution lines and i'm not sure which one or to delete? here is the code: } image { % 1:1 #resolution 100 100 #resolution 300 300 #resolution 500 500 #resolution 1000 1000 % 4:3 #resolution 256 192 #resolution 512 384 #resolution 640 480 resolution 1024 768 #resolution 2048 1536 % 16:9 #resolution 320 180 #resolution 640 360 #resolution 1024 576 #resolution 1280 720 #resolution 1920 1080 aa 0 1 #aa 1 2 filter mitchell } camera { type pinhole transform row %LDDCAMERA% fov 20 aspect %ASPECTRATIO% but you are right, I also want more of my model to be in the render rather than zoomed out. In LDD I have it exactly how I want it but the render always makes it much smaller sometimes I hate computers lol, very time consuming sometimes lol
-
I'm assuming since it says 30 that means 30% ? I wanted to make a very high resolution render as a wallpaper for my desktop (2560x1440) I very much appreciate the help :)

I love how fast this program renders but I keep having a problem with the size it generates, I changed the resolution parameters and it didn't work I instead got this... I used POV Ray before and I was able to get really nice closeups and full shots in the entire frame but it was extremely slower than BlueRender. I have seen the Flickr page of the BlueRender output renders by members here and I am jealous, I can't get mine to look that good :( am I just doing something wrong? anyone that can help would be very much appreciated...

End of support for LDD
ncx replied to Lasse D's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Update from 01/21/2016: There is a new Statement of LEGO®, this time by Tanja Friberg (Senior Manager LEGO® Community Support). "Dear Ambassadors, I hope this will help clarify a bit of the confusion and misunderstanding from our end Regarding LDD. TLG will remain committed to digital building going forward, in regards to LDD, This Means That We will continue to support the current functions on this page. We will not be doing automatic updates on element, HOWEVER elements will continue to be added from time to time. Unfortunately we can not Ensure That All elements are made available. I Can See That the message has spread Widely in the community since yesterday's statement and I Hope that you will assist us in spreading this message as well. Thank you." -
My 611 is almost finished, just have to do the hand rails and tweak the side piston chambers. They do not work well on LEGO radius curves, but they probably would work on ME tracks. And my latest progress of SOU 4501

It has begun! Here she is, coming together nicely but due to some errors that BrickStore and LDD made, I am missing a decent amount of parts that were NOT on my BOM list. You can clearly see where they are missing. The front cow catcher/plow/pilot guard is most apparent, the boiler sides, rear truck and grab rails along the boiler. I will continue to post images as it reaches completion. I have also begun designing my next project, the Southern 4501 (I'll post a render later when I get some time) I have tested the PF motor functions as well and it works great. You really need driverods for this engine to move though its so large it just dwarfs the Emerald Night. RENDER of future project:

I am planning to modify that engine the same way I did my 611 design to accommodate the BBB XL wheels so I will need to rebuild the design from the ground up After looking at photos online, i might model it after Southern #4501 when it wore the Crescent Limited green paint scheme. I haven't really decided yet on that though. I have nearly 60% of the parts to build the 611 so i hope to have it completed by the time the real 611 travels back to Roanoke under steam which is May 30th Edit: I just finished placing orders (including a set of Custom Driver Rods for the wheels) for the remainder of the parts needed for the model. I hope to have it built next week (hopefully)

made some modifications based on your suggestions and a few of my own after looking at some higher res photos of 611. I think its very close to completion like the real thing is (today they just re-installed her nose)

I will have to work on the pistons a little better but the running gear is something that I already accounted for, its just not connected to the pistons yet. (I need to revise that a little) I made a new render with the revisions last night (took a few hours). see here:

That is a detail I have missed (the studs on top of the 611 isn't intentional, I wanted to put tile instead of studded plates) I have tried multiple methods for the nose and like the blocky design that LEGO used to be known for, (not cheap realistic looks like they have today). i even looked at the only other model of the 611 built in LEGO and I didn't like how the nose took away the studs needed to make the front "face" of 611. I am still playing with the idea of extending the nose more like a bullet but have been a little lazy with it since i wanted to build my prototype with real bricks (which I have already received 50% of the parts needed). I was never satisfied with the windows I did on this model, while they might look too orange, the real Class J has bright orange windows, which was why I went with this color. I didn't know the windows were that color until the FireUp611 facebook page posted a picture of them showing the stencil 611 will wear when it comes back to service "Spirit of Roanoke" (I plan to be on one of those trains in June, never got to see her in real life) Thank You for your suggestions and I will play around with them for a bit. As for the stripe on the front plow, that was changed about 5 times. Its also very difficult to get Tuscan Red without paying a fortune on pieces... I wish LDD would only let you work with pieces that are actually available or have been made, (colors that is) I have made too many changes because of this.... I see you are the member here that sells the driver rods. What size would I need to use with this configuration with the BBB XL wheels? edit: Revised nose attached.

The green engine actually is fictional, not really based on anything but i guess i did kinda get inspiration from Henry on Thomas and Friends or Flying Scotsman, but its more American than European style though

Hi everyone, this is my first post here (besides comments made). I have been working for a few months on a LEGO train model with the help of Lego Digital Designer and other third party softwares to build this. This is the famous Class J 611, currently under restoration and scheduled to be back in service starting May 30, 2015. To celebrate I have been working on the LEGO version of the 611 for a few months and I think its a thing of beauty and I am very pleased with the results. Note: The wheels are not correct because i haven't quite figured out how to manually add BBB XL wheels to my LDD file to make the renders with them on it. I started out using LEGO's train drivers but found they were too small for what the 4-8-4 should have. Class J runs on 70" drivers in real life so they had to be big! I am not quite finished with the running gear yet but I am hoping to start build this soon and would like everyone's opinion on the design and what I should change or suggestions to improve. I also made some other train models (see attached below)

Glad I'm not the only one having this problem... went to work on a model I was building and discovered I couldn't change the colors in LDD Extended, it only shows #21 "Bright Red" I really hope this bug gets fixed soon, right now its very un-intuitive to work with by having to switch back and forth to use templates and change the color.... maybe this means we'll get more legacy parts and an actual software update!

I spy with my little eye and I see the new space shuttle in the background!

I don't know but I have a feeling the video that LEGO posted on their site for 2015 "Night Shift" teases the new train set. In it, they show a train chase of a robber escaping using the 60052 train except the train has box cars instead of the regular freight cars. I found this interesting because this video also shows the new Deep Sea Explorer boat at the beginning. I have a photo which I have attached of the video in question showing the boxcars. (I can't seem to embed the photo but here is the link) https://www.dropbox.com/s/do6g4lcnls6ht2x/CaptureLEGO_Boxcars1.PNG
