  1. I disagree. It's ornate, yes, but looks quite a bit like typical ceremonial jousting armor from the 15th-16th century. I could absolutely see it appearing in a CMF series down the line.
  2. I can't find the original source right now and my bad if I'm misremembering, but I am pretty sure Lego has brought up the prohibitive cost of making a new goat mold at least once. If Lego isn't making goats because they're "niche" I can accept that, but we'd all be better off if they just admitted it instead of leaving it up for speculation. I agree with @zoth33 that they've been negligent when it comes to making run-of-the-mill animals. Considering one of the most mundane farm animals out there a "niche adult interest" is as fascinating as it is bizarre.
  3. I find it difficult to accept that a multi-billion-dollar corporation can believably cry poor about having to create one (1) new mold that it also knows will be very popular : )
  4. I have bad news for you about the very first castle Lego ever made haha
  5. I think it's high time this set (?) got its own thread since it is completely separate from the anniversary Castle For those who are out of the loop: Images recently leaked of a 3,000-piece "Medieval Village" set. I can't share the pictures since they're confidential, but you know where to find them. Discuss!
  6. Cute little build! Doing less with more, and the purple roof gives it some unique flair. Nice work.
  7. I'm not sure why some people seem to think that there are fewer details in this set than usual. The interiors look just as decorated as any other WV set, maybe even more so. I'm pleasantly surprised by the building on the left being a music store, I don't think we've gotten one of those before, period!
  8. This looks good! It's different from what we usually get, but no town is going to have the exact same architecture. It's definitely pricey for two small buildings and a vehicle, but I prefer it staying at $100 then being a larger set and losing its "quaintness." Hoping the building on the left is a bookstore, the one on the right seems to be a toy shop or emporium of some kind. The trolley is a highlight, nice to get a unique vehicle after all of the cars we have gotten over the years. I'm glad that Lego hasn't fundamentally changed the Winter Village line like it has many of its products recently.
  9. I think that a village inn would be a slam dunk, and I'm actually surprised that one hasn't been made yet.
  10. ^ And the new barding piece fits on the old horses, but not the helmet.
  11. We somehow made it through nearly a decade without a single Castle set. I'm sure we'll find something to talk about!
  12. It's pretty eye opening that the majority of people who have voted so far believe that it's been 30 years since we last had a great castle. As I remember it, the 2010 King's Castle was universally loved, not only for how it looked, but its innovative modular system and the fact that it wasn't an open-backed layout like many of its predecessors. If anything, I'd like to hear the rationale for why that one is not a great set.
  13. I maintain that the Fright Knights have the most potential as an "updated" faction. Imagine switching out sets like Witch's Windship in favor of gothic-style architecture and some vampiric elements...
  14. I feel like they could have pulled off an Ewok village-style set that would serve as their home base. The River Fortress is pint-sized for a flagship set, even in the 90's.
  15. That withered evergreen in the back is nicely done. Neat SNOT usage as well!
  16. I hate to be the killjoy but it's likely that Wooden Duck is referencing the GWP rather than a set we don't know about. The article was published on May 14, around the same time we found out about it, and the original hideout itself is in the picture they're calling a "clue."
  17. That's nearly a reasonable size in comparison, which just goes to show how huge the blacksmith is. I think the MMV buildings would look good next to the castle.
  18. There's an interview with the designers out now for those who haven't read it: https://brickset.com/article/78892/interview-with-milan-madge-designer-of-10305-lion-knights-castle A couple of interesting takeaways: - They considered a giant Forestman hideout instead of a castle because of how well the faction did in the poll - They spent a lot of time making the structure as realistic to defend as possible, without any weak spots for attackers that smaller-budget sets and even previous flagship castles have. That's something that stuck out to me after I saw it closed up for the first time. - We almost got a new knights' helmet, but they went with the new arch piece instead - The lead designer was inspired by Kingdoms!
  19. I don't think it's too much to ask for, at the very least, some small follow-up sets that don't even necessarily have new prints or molds. The most common complaint I've seen about this castle is how expensive it is. Lego rolling out a small cart or catapult with a minifigure or two next year would address that. It could even be a creator 3-in-1 like this was for space fans: https://brickset.com/sets/31111-1/Cyber-Drone , but with a Crusader with a chain mail torso, and a build that could be a cart, trebuchet or palisade.
  20. Don't have much to add that others haven't already set, but this thing looks incredible. Bravo, Lego. With the four sets released in the last year, we've got a proper revival of Castle, complete with two well-stocked factions, a modular-level blacksmith and even something for the Forestmen. If they keep this up I'll be out of things to complain about, so speed the day. This set is bringing everyone out of retirement, huh Welcome back!
  21. Even better! Hope that's the case. Do you remember where you saw that?
  22. Opting out of getting this one right now since there isn't anywhere near $150 worth of sets that I want. Had the Viking ship come out in the US this month instead of August it would have been a no-brainer. Funny thing is I'll probably pay quite a lot to get it from Bricklink, but not $150, making it worth it!
  23. So many replies in here that this topic is now classified as "Hot." Don't think that has happened in close to a decade on this board
  24. They do owe us something: good, quality products that are worth paying for. They're a company, and if they're not providing that, they won't have any customers. It's true that the economic situation is a consideration, but also consider that because Lego has raised the price, the consumers are now bearing the brunt of it. Some people will not buy this set because of that, and that is perfectly understandable. I, for one, am now going to be more critical of this set when pictures are released. There's a distinct chance that I don't buy it as a result of the price hike. We'll see if this set is quality, and if it's worth the price, but Lego is not high and mighty. I will not be rushing to their defense when they just starting making sets we want again after a decade.
  25. This has become an increasingly common sentiment as "one-off" sets that are more expensive than a regular theme's flagship set have become the norm. Coupled with the upcoming price increases, it seems that Lego is bent on shooting itself in the foot.
