Whoah, love this. Excellent find with that cylinder piece, it is perfect 1:1 scale to my eye!

This works very well, cool idea! And high five for not including the Disney staff to one's personal SW universe! :D I have ended up buying quite a bunch of resistance minifigures as well, because they are a good fit for different rebel staff of which we often do not even have any canonical description (e.g. how should a rebel gunner/artillery trooper or driver look like?).

Well, "many", a few at least. Batman, Spiderman and some others at least. Though now that you said it, Batman is DC but whatever. I guess this is a matter of personal opinion, too, but I haven't really understood the idea, why not to make the figures as detailed as possible. Some ten years ago people complained about the leg printing being unnecessary, when it started to be a standard of a sort, so I guess it is a phenomenon that new phases in figure upgrades inevitably face some resistance. -
I actually prefer the orange(-ish) color. She does have a red hair in the SW universe, but ginger hair in real life is not actually deep red usually, and also in many comic representations Mara's hair is actually almost perfect match to the one above. Of course, in the Lego world it is not only about the perfect match between the reality and the Lego world but also about the correct relations between the in-universe elements. In this case it means that even if the color above is a realistic tone, it does not look so "red" compared to the other Lego hair pieces as it would in real life, because the Lego hair colors in general are much stronger and varying than the ones in real life. So yes, deep red color works very well, too. It depends if you seek a perfect match to the real life or if you want to make it better stand out among the other figures, I would say.

Speaking of molds, it is irritating that they do not use the double-molded legs or hands for Star Wars figures. Yes, the minifigure series are purposefully made to be more catching than the figures in the sets, but many Marvel characters do have double-molded legs, so why not Star Wars characters? The budget is an argument, because the Star Wars figures tend to sell well anyway, but using, for example, for the scout trooper the already existing mold of black legs with white boots (that has been almost lazily used in at least 3 or 4 recent CMF figures instead of creating new combinations) probably would not be so much more expensive... - Samppu -
Gotta love the way you composed Mara Jade! How is it done, especially where comes the hair and face piece? @ARC2149Nova - Samppu

I don't want to let all the hope be gone, but sadly this is probably the case and we do not get Cody. However, I have to counter-argue that especially among the afols there are quite a few of us, who buy large sets only or mostly for the minifigures.. ;D Consider e.g. the Solo sets with Mimban stormtrooper and the range troopers, for example. (It is not that expensive either if you sell most of the parts on Bricklink afterwards). - Samppu -

The build is just marvelous! My personal favorites are the big chairs and tiling on the floor. However, an idea for a future scene: use human eye (or even frog eye view). The plot of the scene has a potential to spawn more sparkle, if one can feel more like being there and being part of the events. With the bird eye view (camera looking downwards from somewhere above) it easily creates a little distant feeling regarding the story line, like the audience is just a fly on the wall. Nevertheless, gotta love this one! Looking forward for more! - Samppu

I would love to see this in real Legos! Maybe even as motorized. The scale is just correct, too, I would say. The size enables more details, but it is not too much over. I especially like the round 10x10 curved bricks (the big gray pieces from the Droid Gunship) as the main circles attached to the body. Perhaps I would have preferred the tracks to be unitary black altogether, but nevertheless, this is great. - Samppu

Ah, this would be so great! I would be so happy with any of those. If I had to pick one, I might prefer Geonosis with new figures from the Separatist Council. - Samppu -

I used to work in a toyshop a few years ago beside my studies, and there we got to see "secret" catalogue pages of the coming Lego sets of the year. In those pictures most of the minifigures were replaced by either black shadows or old figures marking placeholders, so it can very well be that the figures are not what correspond to the blurred image, if this image comes from such a catalogue page. Personally I would prefer Magnaguard million times over the 212th clone trooper. Sigh for the Commander Cody and the lost chance, but Magnaguard to my mind would still be a better catch than the trooper (we had a cheap access to them a while ago, and even the new fans wouldn't really benefit from the remake in such an expensive set as you couldn't possibly buy them to make an army anyway). - Samppu -
These are amazing! My personal favorites are all the Death Star scenes, especially the one with the super laser. Great editing on that, too! - Samppu

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole set was almost exact copy of the 2014 version. Motorized walking function would be a cool improvement, but probably not going to happen at that price point. Minifigure-wise admiral Ozzel (in general, an Imperial admiral) would be welcoming, though not really unique either. A creative solution would be to base the AT-AT set on ROTJ, not ESB, and include some missing figures from the ROTJ with it. Or if not missing, figures that could certainly do with an update such as 5 whatever Imperial figures + updated Mon Mothma. - Samppu -

Ok, thanks. As for the discussion about the looks of the new 501st clones, I think the reason for certain inaccuracies might be that the clones are based on the TCW-animation series rather than the movies. Especially the torso printing resembles TCW-style. Luckily the helmets do have that black forehead ban on them. And I am personally just super happy we got them, I am going to get several, though going to do personal updates for the belt issue etc. - Samppu -

Could there be any chance that this "orange clone trooper" was Commander Cody? - Samppu -
Are the DLT-19 and the DLT-19X some new BrickArms molds or are they from some other manufacturer? I haven't yet heard that there would be any Lego compatible option of those guns... Unless you use the BrickArms German MG34/42 which gets pretty close (and was actually the real life model DLT-19 was based on), I think. Where did you get them? As I want too... =D - Samppu

@DockingBay94 Brickizimo is a good reseller for BrickArms in Europe, Warehouse 19 in Sweden another. Both have cheap shipping options. Both had the bowcaster for sale last time I checked. - Samppu

One possibility is that they are using the old trick to make them appear "cooler" for especially teenage audience. For example, old James Bond films were rated 18+ in many countries not because they were somehow extremely violent (they were not) but because it actually increased their popularity among the teenagers at the time. I don't know whether it stands for these busts as well, but I am certain that TLG has had people to do some research on the topic before marking them 18+. - Samppu

I agree with the original post. Personally I do not care about the sets anyway as I am a MOCer, but I do find the bricky appearance to be a weird solution for the adult audience nevertheless. Making it bigger would be a solution, but I don't think it really matters. This scale is already big enough to make it appear very smooth with the curved slopes etc. if one so wants. Besides, UCS TIE was big but still bricky. Either the designers follow some bricky philosophy that the designs must include a lot of studs in order to appear "Lego like" or they have serious lack of time or talent. Considering the repetitious releases of snowspeeders and other related examples, I guess it might be either of the latter. - Samppu

I think you have been very lucky that they didn't go to the trial (if the question was about Lego Star Wars instructions, different thing for personal customs with no copyright issues to begin with). Disney's attention is a real risk. For example, Avanaut, the famous Lego SW photographer got badly hit by a serious lawsuit from Disney and was only saved by the Lego company who hired him in the aftermath. Again, we should remember that the copyrights are Disney's and anyone selling them as custom instructions etc. is already breaking the law in most countries. As we had it in the previous discussion: if you make only pocket money anyway, raising an issue probably wouldn't make a difference in your income. If you are making much more than some pocket money, you can end up in some serious trouble by yourself. I also consider it to be a true risk that Disney might try to take down all such businesses as a result, if a public lawsuit would force them to take some action, because as we saw with TLG buying the BrickLink, such major actions are possible. Well, one option in hand is still that one can always try to bluff the frauds. :D Or sell only physical copies. - Samppu
-
Risking to repeat myself, I hope no one tries their luck with any lawsuit on these fraud sellers, because that would not stop the Chinese frauds anyway, but the bad thing that could very likely happen is that it would raise the issue to Disney's attention and possibly bring an end to the sale of custom instructions, minifigures or whatever under the Star Wars licence if Disney ends up being forced to take some action on it. Remember that selling any Star Wars related customs is illegal in the first place due to the copyright issues, because it is Disney who has the rights. - Samppu This is probably the most reasonable action one can try. - Samppu
-
Yep, we had a discussion over the topic a while ago and the bottom line seems to be that there is very little you can do, unfortunately. Raising any legal disputes would be unwise as it could track attention from Disney and be the end of selling any custom made instructions with any IP issues, particularly regarding Star Wars.
