  1. Skeleton leg is a very useful part, we have had it in many sets. (Lots of Friends sets have them, for holding telescopes or microphones etc) It seems that we are doing something wrong in our house, though, because almost all of them have broken at the top. Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a special way to put things in them? I don't want any more legless skeletons! :( tuskel, sincerely
  2. This is really beautiful. I like all the sideways building! And the chandelier is fun, too. tuskel, sincerely
  3. Since it is always winter in Winter Village, Frank "Frosty" Brickberg has done very well with his sports shop, "Snow Sports". He has even managed to build a skyscraper for himself and his family! People come all over the village to buy mountaneering and sports equipment, and go on to use them on the snowy hill and frozen pond nearby. All constructive criticism welcome! I know it is very tall, but I did like the first floor so much, and I really don't have any time to rebuild it any more! (I only started on 27th, when I logged in again over a long long time! :)) Yes, I know the roof design is shamelessly taken from the Toy Shop (which I sadly had to demolish two days after building it!) People are enjoying the good weather outside. The roof simply lifts off. I tried to make it hinged, but in the end went with the simplest solution. In the attic, there is a bedroom and a small kitchen area. The first floor has a living room to relax in. Someone should tend to the fire, though! Downstairs houses the shop with skis, skates, snowboards and sledges. You can even get some helmets and hats from a table or pickaxes and ropes hanging up on the wall (all behind the stairs, sadly not very visible). Happy New Year! tuskel, sincerely
  4. You know all the forums and sub-forums with their (licenced) themes? Where does Lego Elves fit under? Thx. tuskel, sincerely
  5. I really thought about this for a long time and finally decided to post it here, as the character is contemporary. Y'know, he is diving on this holiday or sth. (Feel free to move it into a more appropriate forum if there is such, mods.) Anyway, this is a MOC I've wanted to do for ages. Here it is. tuskel, sincerely
  6. We haven't got the second "wave" of Elves sets yet, but the first made a very good Greenhouse/Whomping Willow set. Bakery plus Treetop Hideaway morphed into this: Needless to say, the "roof" should be all light green. Although orange-y yellow doesn't look too bad... Professor Sprout taking care of all the plants tuskel, sincerely P.S. I'm excited to see what Skyra's castle will be like in real life... Hogwarts here we come again?
  7. Well, in that case, every set should come with its own Brian Blessed, who once punched a polar bear to stop people from shooting it. (The bear had been following them for a few days and one night entered his tent, at which point Blessed let out his best Tarzan scream and punched it on the nose. Obviously, it fled, they didn't see it again. :D) However, even though I voted no, there are plenty of little guns and bits that look like guns in our Lego collection as well. And kids still imagine violent things. This, for example, is what my 7y-o daughter made (OK, after watching Daddy play a lot of Doom): tuskel, sincerely
  8. You need to incorporate them into furniture or sth... Like, use them as seats, then your wife will be fine with them. tuskel, sincerely
  9. You lucky b...! Anyway. I am into older Lego, I want to start collecting the first Harry Potter sets, so I made a rule that I would BL one per month. I have a job, but it's only part-time and I don't earn that much. However, then the Elves came out, and I thought - this would be cool - to get the whole range! So I have been buying them as well, one per month (or thereabouts!) And I have still bought small sets, like the new Lego Juniors ones (pirate! and a shark! and a skeleton!!!), so I am a bit out of control... If only I didn't have to eat... tuskel, sincerely
  10. Here we are - we decided to make our own with our meagre supplies of minidolls and CMF accessories. Infuriatingly, Photobucket won't let me add any titles to the photos, so I'll have to photobomb you a bit more than I planned. Also, apologies for some lower quality photos, I used macro, but was still too close(!) But: The Gardener Le Chef Marion Hood 60s hairdresser Bandit Air Witch Crystal Witch Nature Witch Winter Fairy Mexican Bandit Birley Shassey The Farmer And few my daughter made herself - she really got into it! :) Ice Sculpture Twins Montana Jones (sister of Indiana Jones) Red Robber Hood Plumber Spy Girl Pirate crewmember (for the captain!) Egyptian Fighter (with sword and perfume ) Summer Fairy tuskel, sincerely
  11. What do you mean exactly? The walls or interior? As I said above, we didn't get any extra bricks for this so just had to use what we had available. I would have preferred more white/tan in the first floor walls, but I don't have that many bricks. The medium azure (or whatever the light blue is in the ground floor) all came from the Seaside House and I haven't got a proper white Creator one. Something to get in the future! But I do like the way roof turned out. All the colours seem to match well.
  12. We really really need a CMD series, with, as mentioned above, some varied facial expressions! My daughter would love these, and I wouldn't mind either. tuskel, sincerely P.S. Is the Dashing Swashbuckler wearing a girls top?
  13. Wow! What a shame you can't actually display the whole thing! (Maybe one day at some convention/exhibition?) It has made me realise that I should use LDD for some modulars I want to build. I should use LDD a lot more than I do now, anyway. Great work! I really like your MOCs.
  14. Thanks a lot! Now this will be going through my head all day long!
  15. I can totally see that one. I am not a massive fan of minidolls either, but I've kind of warmed to them. Still, minifigs rule! I may have to get a few Chima sets now... :) tuskel, sincerely
  16. Great things! Have you made any other moving toys, like woodcutters or climbing men/woodpeckers?
  17. Wow. MASSIVE! Great work though, and indeed the interior was a surprise. Love the skeletons! tuskel, sincerely
  18. The Partridge Family... *googles* I see what you mean, but I've always liked Mondrian anyway. EDIT: I wish my husband was into Lego... He doesn't like it, and when forced to play with it, builds silly things and messes up the pieces -> puts them in the wrong boxes!
  19. Just love the fishmonger's! Are you going to build any other shops/modulars?
  20. Cool! The thumbnail pics don't actually look like Lego at all! Must have taken you ages! Anyway... What is behind the tile design, if I may ask? tuskel, sincerely
  21. Hi! In our house, we play with our Lego family: First, myself (I've been doing cooking, hence the dirty tee), hubby (he fell down the stairs and broke his left foot quite badly a few weeks ago, so we put a pirate's peg leg on him ), our daughter Emily and her "sister" - actually her best friend Bethany from school, and Gran and Granddad. For a while now, we've had our Lego family living in different Creator houses. First they were in 7346 - blue Seaside House, and after a while they moved into 31025 - the Mountain Hut. However, as I'm sure everyone who has Creator houses knows, these are not very big, especially the interiors. So we - me and my daughter - decided to make a proper house for "us". It bears almost no resemblance to our real house, apart from the general layout, but we tried to add everything we like and find important. Again, we bought no special bricks to make this, just used whatever we had in hand already. So here it is: The paddling pool has a slide, and magically appearing waterfall (not my addition). However, we do have to have a garden, where we grow flowers, carrots (one is accidentally growing in the fence), and what I think are cherry tomatoes, although it could just as easily be a berry bush. Ground floor with nice, soft carpets, a massive telly, bookcase and a few plants. I am cooking, and we seem to have a lot of pizza tonight, not to mention cake! Must be a party or sth... Maybe a housewarming party? The bedrooms. Kids' one features a bunk bed and a few toys, but this is the room I've given least thought to. Also, I do realise we don't have that many toys for Lego people. However, on other side grown-up bedroom with the bathroom, and another little fireplace, which my daughter built herself. And finally, the attic, with lots of stuff and a few unwanted "pets". The roof took me about three hours to make and broke several times. Grr! Total pain in the backside! But I finished it! You may have noticed there aren't a) any stairs and b) no Gran and Granddad. As we built this for hardcore playing, really, I didn't think I needed to add any stairs. And I think it's sturdier that way. Gran and Granddad took Emily out for a day on the beach last week, and we even built a little beach scene with them. However, as I was taking pictures, I noticed my battery was nearly empty and rushed too much, making the pics blurry. Have to take them again. Something to look forward to! Just two more pics here, if anyone's interested. tuskel, sincerely
  22. Yes, this came from 4723 Diagon Alley Shops - the first wave of HP sets. It is just about tall enough for minifigs to go through - without the tall wizard hats of course! I don't really have wizard-y doors, apart from the orange and purple one from 4721 (Hogwarts classrooms), so this was the better option. I do understand about the jumper plates, and I did try to put them in places where minifigs could stand to appear to get something from the shelves/tables, but there were too many of them. And I did attempt a pattern with dark brown 2x2 tiles thrown in... Although in the end, after all the people and things went in, you can't really see much of it anyway.
  23. Hi! This is my first proper MOC, at least what I consider to be the first proper one, since I didn't use any official instructions at all. It is of Honeydukes of Hogsmeade, of Harry Potter fame. I built it to look like it was winter, as Harry visited it first time just before Christmas, however, he is not hiding under his invisibility cloak. So it's more likely to be a later Xmas. I got inspiration from the many wonderful Winter Village MOCs, the Lego computer game and my imagination - the way I saw Honeydukes in my mind's eye when I first read the book. Shop logo by the courtesy of Agusprince333 on DeviantArt. I used only the bricks I already had, and consciously made the decision not to buy any extra stuff after it's ready, just to see if I could. I discovered I really don't have enough grey bricks, I used almost all of them up in the fireplace. Also, I really need more tan SNOT plates. I had a helper - my daughter, 6, who was very eager to do the building with me. So, to avoid a major tantrum, she built the little things outside, with some instructions by me. She also helped to furnish the inside of the shop. Christmas is coming to Hogsmeade, and Honeydukes is doing a roaring trade, especially because of all the students shopping on their free weekend. A local witch is delivering more boxes of sweets. A local wizard decorating the Xmas tree, while Dumbledore is looking longingly at the display in the shop. The inside of the shop, however, not really the look I intended it to have for playing... ... because I built it to be opened up. Opened view. I am not really happy with the floor, because, as I said before, I haven't enough smooth tan plates. So I had to resort to using any tan plates I could find in the end, and a few dark yellow and gold ones. Right side of the shop - with the display window. At the moment, sugar quills are all the rage. Ron is choosing some Fizzing Whizbees, and Harry wants to get Bertie Bott's Every Flavour beans. Also in the background the fireplace I am really proud of. On the left side - with the door - you can see Malfoy going through Liquorice Wands, whilst Hermione decides which Cauldron Cakes to buy. Dumbledore is upstairs at the Sugar Mice barrel, and behind him are the Jelly Slugs. Unfortunately I didn't have any brown frogs, so green had to do for Chocolate Frogs. (I think they are wrapped anyway!) My daughter's contributions were the Mia minidoll as the shop assistant and Malfoy's girlfriend buying the best Sugar Mouse. Thanks for looking, hope you like it! tuskel, sincerely
  24. Heh, those are cute! Friends landspeeder and AT-ST! Loads more girls would be into Star Wars if all their vehicles looked like that! tuskel, sincerely
  25. Can you do a Запоро́жец? That would be cool! Apparently even my dad had one before I was born... Afterwards he had a Ziguli... tuskel, sincerely
