  1. In 2000 I designed an automated train crossing with flashing lights and bell (round siren module). It had a red micro motor for each barrier arm. It was powered by a Technics Control Centre II 8485. I would run a train at constant speed around the display and program the time delays into the controller.
  2. The airtank is meant to look like the parachute that is deployed to stop the dragster.
  3. Using parts from Racers 8121, 8122, 8162, City 7635, 7638, and the Space Police 5972 Looking for that ultimate gift? Then give your favourite minifig a ride in my 2 seater dragster. No racing licence, No worry. Let my experienced driver take you down the drag strip. So hop in, sit down and shut up. Experience the G force. Experience wind in your face.
  4. Great idea but those doors are very rare, only came out in one set. Instead I have combined 2 smaller doors together from the tow truck set. I have also added mirrors but as i only had white clips I have put a white line around the cab roof. This goes well with the lower white stripe and raises the roof one plate which helps hide the gap of the front of rear white roof . I have also inserted the orange tiles into the rear ramp. Updated pictures below:
  5. I had one use for this set when it came out. I used the Rock Monster as a King Kong statue for my King Kong Klub Gym. A link to some old pictures http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/~allanj/klub.html
  6. Thanks everyone for the great comments. I have made one slight change, have recessed the orange tiles into the loading ramp.
  7. Using parts from Racers 8121, 8122, 8162, City 7635, 7638, and the Space Police 5972 set I built a Horse truck today. There are side photos of two different front wheel positions. Not sure which is best. I have used 4 black cheese bricks each side as steps up into cab. Also no studs on top (SNOT). Alternate front wheel postion below. Let me know which one you like.
  8. You could do what i did and put a 9v motor under the coal tender if you already have the older 9v electrified rail system. Here is a link to how somebody else did it. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/142700
  9. You could get hairpiece sets. They were Service Packs. I have them http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=5393-1 http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=5318-1
  10. Done, amber lights gone.
  11. I have taken on various suggestions. Bought 2 sets of 7635 to get black guards. Have removed lockers. Added rear mud flaps and changed rear lights. Changed colour of top front bumper. Changed position of mirrors to allow for future addition of 3 x 2 black doors. Have uploaded photos of truck with black wheel rims and with grey wheel rims. Please comment on which you think is better.
  12. Had a ground up rebuild today. Enjoy

  17. The New Zealand EF locomotive I pictured earlier is totally electric.
  18. I thinkit looks more like this New Zealand electric locomotive. An EF class for use on the electrified line between Palmerston North and Hamilton. More info on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NZR_EF_class
  19. I emailed them when the current version came out as all my designs had jumped up by $ NZ 15. LEGO said that they added that amount on to cover the box and instruction printing.
  20. I have been collecting / buying LEGO for 25 years. Spending over $ NZ 3,000 a year so that adds up to over $ NZ 75,000 so far
  21. Thanks for the suggestions. The driver can see ahead. Its a six stud wide cab, he is sitting on the left and can look down the side of the blower. I only have the 8121, 8122, 8162 and 7638 sets to get parts from. But I do have thousands of spare parts in the storage unit in the North Island. So one day I can update it.
  22. Being Christmas Day there was not much to do. All my LEGO is in storage, but I had bought the following sets recently for spare parts. So to fill in the day I decided to build something from what I had on hand. Using parts from Racers 8121, 8122, 8162 and City 7638 I ended up with an Orange Rat Rod with blower. Tomorrow its off to the Boxing Day sales for more LEGO. Enjoy
