Purist Superhero Figures

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I made this version which I think works pretty good for bulking Bane up a little bit, and looks better than the "blender" version, to boot. I don't have any shots of what it looks like from the back, but it's made by connecting the middle stud of a black 1x2 plate onto a black back stud neck bracket, attaching two black modified 1x1 "clip light" plates, with the 'rings' facing vertically to the back of that, covering those two studs with a black 1x2 tile, and then, attaching four trans neon-green round 1x1 open stud bricks onto each of the exposed 'rings' on the 1x1 clip light plates, and then covering the tops of the four trans neon-green round 1x1 open stud bricks with four corresponding flat silver 1x1 round tiles. If that sounds confusing, it looks something like this. :) All I ask of you if you do use that design, and post it someplace, just credit me and/or link back to the Flickr post where you got it from. Thanks. Happy building! - The Big Red Cheese -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

Everyone's been doing this, so here's my two bits: Dick Grayson: I am going to keep an open mind here, but so far, I am definitely not a fan of this version. However, since the parts are definitely reusable for other versions of Robin, as much as I don't like him, I can't really say anything bad against him. The Shark Repellent Bat Spray is a must-have, anyway. Barbara Gordon: Like the new Robin, I am going to keep an open mind here, but so far, I am definitely not a fan of this version. However, since the parts are definitely reusable for other versions of Babs and/or other police officers, as much as I don't like her, I can't really say anything bad against her. The Bat-Signal button thing, like Robin's bottle of Shark Repellent Bat Spray is a must-have, as well, so here I am. Definitely going to pick up more than one, I hope. Jim Gordon: Like the new Robin and the new Babs, I am going to keep an open mind here, but so far, I am definitely not a fan of this version. However, since the parts are definitely usable for making the Commissioner, amongst other figures , as much as I don't like her, I can't really say anything bad against her. The Joker Wanted Poster, just like Robin's bottle of Shark Repellent Bat Spray, and Babs' Bat-Signal button thing, is a must-have, as well, so here I am. Definitely going to pick up more than one, I hope. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Zodiac Master: The new silver crab seems to be pretty good, but, on the other hand, Lego never seems to be able to do a perfect underwear print, so I'm not going to be 100% happy with this guy, but hey, what can you do? *Shrug* March Harriet: I would've preferred the Mad Hatter himself, but she's a pretty good replacement. The fleshy arms with the bronze straps will be useful, one can never have too many white hands, and I think even her face and costume (sans bunny helmet) could be reused as well. She's worth picking up just for the machine gun, in my opinion. Eraser: Not much to say here. I think a pencil mini figure accessory was almost required here, and Lego didn't deliver. Still a nice minifigure, and to be honest, that new headpiece is driving me nuts and it seems to have many applications, so I'm only going to partially complain. Calculator: Wow. Perfectly faithful to the original, and looking pretty good, save for the somewhat excessive shoulder armor. I think I'm one of the only people in the thread who doesn't love the 07734/hELLO message on his helmet. It has the corn/cheese/camp necessary for this series, but I think that the helmet itself, screen and all, might've been overkill. I would've gladly taken a blank screen printed on top of his head, but that's just me. Mime: Pretty accurate, but once again, Lego never seems to be able to do a perfect underwear print. Going to be a real pain in the neck to customize, but well worth it, I think. Orca: As with Calculator, a faithful re-creation of the source material. 'Nuff said. Tut: I'll grant that he's a fairly good rendition of the Victor Buono version from the late '60's, but there's been more done with the character, especially in recent years, so I'm definitely going to sit on the fence for this one. I want to say "probably", if only for the snake and staff. Catman: As I said before with Calculator and Orca, I like the fact that this character is an accurate representation of the source material. Plus, the brown boots can be used for Wolverine, and as for the stubbly Bat-Man face, whereas everyone else has been saying Bat-Fleck, I scream BAT-MAN OF ZUR-EN-ARRH! *Ahem* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Asylum Joker: A lot of people have said how he's only good for the hair. So many Lego fans throwing out perfectly usable Arkham Asylum jumpsuits makes me sad Nurse Harley: Some people have said that it's an subtle insertion attempt at Arkham Asylum's Harley, and personally, I think it's possible, but it seems like it'd be far too obvious and there'd be more outcry if that were a confirmed case. Either way, great figure, and very much in line with the character. Red Hood: Maybe it's just me, but the whole bow-tie armor thing with the big clunky head seems a bit weird. In any case, I plan on customizing it with the Nexo shoulder armor in red and a smaller helmet. From what I can see, the suit looks reusable, and I want to see how they did the mini-fig head itself. He's worth picking up just for the hand guns, in my opinion. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vacation Batman: The goggled-helm seems pretty cool, as do the arms, legs, and rubber ducky. I'm in. Lobster-Lovin' Batman: The lobster, and, as one eagle eyed viewer pointed out, tomalley printing, are the best parts here. The smoking jacket has so many uses, I can't even begin to start listing them. Cave Batman: This, along with the Pirate and Tartan Batmen, remind me of the historical Bat-Men that we saw in a Batman: The Brave and The Bold episode entitled "Time Out For Vengeance!" Hope they keep up that theme. Glam Batman: I think that some of the Batman variants are getting excessive, but hey, purist Lego KISS anyone?! Fairy Batman: With the number of Batsuits/variants that we now have, just given the movie, what with both the CMFs and the Bat-Cave set, I'm tempted to start singing a very specific P!nk song, aimed directly at TLG: "Just give me a reason, just a little bit's enough ..." (Pink/P!nk pun fully intended, especially given that this is Pink Fairy Suit Batman) Pink Power Batgirl: I like the fact that she doesn't have a cowl, as we can get the full Babs movie hair, sans attachments of any kind. Her parts can be used for a pink ballerina or something, and that pink Bat-a-Rang is beautiful in and of itself. -
Building off of your post, I think Lilo could benefit from this torso, if only for another ounce of detail. All of your figures look great, and I can't wait to see how this thread continues! :) EDIT: I had an idea for Bob Parr from The Incredibles, but without his suit. Using Mr. Incredible's hair, either of these heads, this torso, these arms, regular fleshy hands, and black legs, you have a pretty good looking Bob Parr.

"batgirl's torso would be good for stephanie brown's batgirl costume" - Steph's costume is a bit more of a mix of black and purple, but it definitely could work. "maybe the new design of batgirl from the comics" - Which one? Specify, please. :) Do you mean The Batgirl of Burnside? I think this figure's based on that, actually. Cat-Cycle: As batwoman99 may have said: With a few tweaks, that Batgirl could sub in for The Batgirl of Burnside. Riddler Chase: The trans-red visor from Kite-Man can help polish off this totally not self-promoting link of a classic Lego Batman: The Video Game style Scuba Robin, Riddler, himself, with a few tweaks could be used to make the Jim Carrey Batman Forever version, Calendar Man along with Bart Simpson's arms, fleshy hands, a new head, and a crown, can be used to make Batman: The Brave and the Bold's one-off super-powered version of Calendar Man: CALENDAR KING! Magpie's armor can be used for various figures, and I can't get a good look at it, but her chest symbol looks vague and generalized enough to be useful elsewhere too. I know that this isn't a figure, but with a few tweaks, Riddler's car could work for a custom Nick Fury flying car from the comics, and his cane can be used for the Arkham game trophies. Clayface: That mayor figure can be redone to look like the Arkham game style (blonde) Vicki Vale. Killer Croc Tail Gator: Zebra Man's hair can be used for classic comics Magpie, ironically enough, and O.M.A.C. (the Jack Kirby ones) and I can't get a good look at them, but Tarantula's arms might make for a good Vibe. The back of her torso could also work for the two members of Double Dare. Arkham: The belt piece in orange can work with the Deathstroke figure we already have and possibly classic Cat-Man. EDIT: The keypad piece seen here, coupled with a neck bracket could compliment or help create The Calculator. :) DOUBLE EDIT: The jumpsuits can be used to make inmate versions of any superhero or villain, and the female GCPD officers uniform could be tweaked to make the GCPF. 3x EDIT: As seen here, Two-Face's face might be useful for Metallo. Joker Balloon Escape: Joker's hair can be used for The Creeper. Mr. Freeze: His parts can be used for any of the three Blue Beetles. Batmobile: The Kabuki twins can sub in for Electra or Marvel's Hand ninjas, or really, anything maroon and female, plus the Bat round tile and canister from the grappling gun, as seen in this other, totally not self-promting link could be used to make wait for it- SHARK REPELLENT BAT SPRAY! I am dead serious here. Joker lowrider: Joker's arms can be used for an interpretation of the DC villain Double Down, and Harley looks really useful, but I want better pics. EDIT: Harley Quinn's hips can also work for Ghost Rider, Punisher, or really anyone applicable with a 'skull' theme. Again, not a figure, but the gold chicken can be used for a purist Staff of Horus from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Scuttler: Babs can be customized into a comics style GCPD swat member. Her arms might also work Vibe. Once again, not a figure, but Poison Ivy's plant thingamajig as an accessory for Terra, Swamp Thing, and many others. Batcave: I already mentioned this here, but, the golden sparkly arms from the Freddie Mercury style bat-suit may work well with the MCU Ancient One from Dr. Strange, the purple boxing gloves on the Boxing Batman could work in part for a purist Wildcat, and as I also mentioned earlier about Arkham, the belt piece in orange can work with the Deathstroke figure we already have, and possibly Cat-Man as well. EDIT: The Penguin's fur neck thing could work for Sabretooth and/or Kraven the Hunter, and his hat could work for the Mad Hatter. I’d like to get a closer look at the sets (mostly Arkham, the elusive Penguin Limo, and the Scarecrow pizza car) before I say anything else about purist uses for their bricks, other than the fact that, in general, the new yellow belt piece can be used for Watchmen's Ozymandias and classic Cat-Man amongst many other superheroes and villains. Happy building! - The Big Red Cheese OVERALL EDIT/Post Script: This album has close up shots that I took of the sets that were available at NYCC. -

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
TheBigRedCheese replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
I am by far the least educated on the whole Lego Batman Movie thing, what with so much information and controversy in such an insanely short amount of time. (God, never have I ever simultaneously loved and hated the Internet.) So, with that said, can anyone tell me what the CMF Line status is? Are there leaks, or are there not, or what's going on there? -

I went to look up the comics version, and he's one of those legacy characters that has like three or four different identities, and at least one different name. I hadn't even looked at the CW version yet. I personally haven't, but I have seen it done. -

I can't wait to see all of your new figures! :O Also, if you use that resin casting technique with Lego, you should create your own topic in the Minifig Customiation Workshop forum and post them there! I'm sure that people would love to see them! :D N52 Superman: He looks great, but why the sleeves? They don't really seem to jive with the N52 all that well. Alchemy: I am very confused about this character (I don't know much of anything about him, and there are like six versions of him! ) In any case, nice figure! Firefly: Another one?! I'm kidding, he looks awesome! Scarecrow: Looking amazing! I wish we had that scythe handle in trans-yellow, but this will have to do for now. Steve Trevor: This looks good for a DCEU Steve. Personally, I prefer classic Steve. Either way, nice figure! Joker: I'd ask "Why the tux?" but he's the Joker, so there doesn't need to be one. Nice combos! -

Inspired by this, I made my own BVS Mercy. Created with Mecabricks, this figure is not entirely physically possible (the Indy satchel/purse doesn't come in black - yet, I hope!) and is made with the black bob cut, Harley Quinn's face, Clara Oswald's torso with white arms, or Sharon Carter's torso with flesh arms, depending on which scene we're talking about, (her first appearance with Lex and the Senator, or when she's leading the military guys and that crate) and Scarlet Witch's skirt. Thanks for the information and the clarification. I'm tentatively agreeing in regards to your Deadman idea, but I'm going to reserve final judgement until we have confirmation, production, and actual distribution of the Calendar Man figure, if it's real. So great to see you over here again, autorazr, and with an AMAZING Booster Gold and Skeets to boot! :O Color me impressed! I must know, where is Booster's armor from? I second what I said to batwoman99: "I'm going to reserve final judgement until we have confirmation, production, and actual distribution of the Calendar Man figure, if it's real. Glad you were able to replace the medium azure pants! :D She looks beautiful now! I knew I was behind in my comic reading, but I didn't know that it'd gotten to the point where Ambush Bug changed his costume and joined the Doom Patrol. Things are far worse than I feared. I hope you can make an awesome looking Ambush Bug that meets your own personal standards, and looks great, too! Good luck, and happy building! - The Big Red Cheese Me three! -

Thanks for sharing, he looks great! That's a really nice design, and given the number of costumes that man has been through, "Another Firefly?!", is not a valid complaint. You do you! :D From what I can visualize in my head, this looks great! I am a bit confused, though: When you say "Armored Batman", you do mean the DCCU one, right? Not really a big fan of the freckles, but the rest looks amazing, especially that old-school ninja torso! :O What do you mean by "Spartan Bat"? That Firefly seems like a great idea! :D Lucius Fox: Nice! You really captured him! :D Mad Hatter: Like your Vandal Savage, he's not quite Azrael: Stunning, just stunning. Atom: Pretty basic, but beautiful all the same. Nice usage of that Senate Commando Captain torso. :) Wow. Just wow. The only thing I could recommend is to try squeezing more yellow into the torso, (I'm not sure you can via purism, but just see), and perhaps more importantly: Use Donald Duck's boots at any and all costs! In any case, the figure is spot on and absolutely beautiful. :) FYI, DC apparently makes a distinction between "Earth-34" and "Earth 34". In any case Duncan, these are great figures, no matter what Earth they come from. N_Cat: The evil "mirror" universe is generally agreed to be Earth 3, at least Pre-Crisis. It varies in interpretation, but the most common idea is that everything is "reversed". According to Wikipedia: "Christopher Columbus was American and discovered Europe; England (a colony of America) won freedom in a reversed form of the Revolutionary War (with George Washington surrendering his sword to Charles Cornwallis) in 1774; President John Wilkes Booth was assassinated by actor Abraham Lincoln." Also, according to the JLA: Earth 2 comic book, (which only takes place there because it had to be Post-Crisis), "People have hearts on the right side of their bodies, and American money bears the face of Benedict Arnold, along with the slogan "In Mammon We Trust"." Also, Earth-Three was/is/??? home to an analogue to the Justice League, the Crime Syndicate of America. Hope that helps! :D Nice job! He looks more comic than movie here, at least to me, but he is awesome nonetheless! Happy building, and keep up the awesome work! -

No, unfortunately, it does not. The next best hair is Syndrome's. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On an unrelated note, the new CMF scimitar swordsman's arms might work well for a yellow Wonder Woman, or Booster Gold. Those gold 'vambraces' (if you will) at the end of his arms seem to have many possibilities, but I just can't think of any others at the moment. -

This topic seems dead. I hope it gets revived . . . In any case, I saw this shot of the new Arkham Asylum Dr. Harleen Quinzell, and thought that everything save for the hair could be used for a pretty good Petronella Osgood from Dr. Who.- 247 replies
