  1. A tip for the concerned AFOLs: don't put anything together or if you put something together, put on beer glasses before taking it apart so you won't see cracks. I have a Emerald Night and a few of the black cheese slopes have cracks after being around for almost 2 years
  2. ^^ this. Some plastics like those used for dash board in cars can be off by around 1/8th inch (around 3mm) or more and still be fine. But 3mm error on LEGO bricks would be disaster since nothing would fit! LEGO's precision is probably down to thousandth mm (micrometer?) to ensure they all fit as expected and will remain compatible with past and future LEGO parts.
  3. Let me know when you have 10179 out for the original $500 price.
  4. I checked today to see if there were other styles, the shirt was nowhere to be seen. Either they are sold out already or it was moved to the back room, maybe not supposed to be out yet?
  5. sorry about OCD attack but one glaring irregularity got on me:
  6. You make me drool at the idea. How about vertical modular system where you can expand by adding tree section and fortified section? If you liked Forestmen, have you looked at Dark Forest line? Only 3 models were released and all a few years after Forestmen line. However a lot of styles were similar.
  7. I didn't look around as I wanted to get cough syrup and kleenex and leave quickly but I grabbed this one since I loved the classic space theme. This one is adult size XL, Walmart has this in S to XXL. They might have other themes or colors but like I said I didn't want to stay around long. Lousy cold and flu. Price is $7.50 + tx, I think XXL is $2 more. I can check for other color or style in a few days if no one else checks. I think Benny shirt is only in blue shirt since he is blue, part of the print is actual shirt color and not printed. and other color wouldn't look right. The classic space logo is the only one that looks old and faded, the rest of the shirt is quite clear so the shirt as whole isn't going for old and worn look.
  8. cross = offset maybe?
  9. My computer has dual XEON and lots of memory but it still had a hard time opening half that 13 feet long super star destroyer. Part of the issue is that LDD uses one core so my overpowered gaming machine were only using about 4% of maximum potential while running LDD. I do hope that LEGO would do something about that and make future LDD able to use multi-core. Then I could probably do over 1 million bricks before my machine starts slowing down. Right now try to keep it under 10k parts for most modern machine and smaller for older machines.
  10. http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Sea-Tron_Monorail Yep, the unreleased monorail with blue track and trans-red dome that were also never released.
  11. there is a Samsonite store near me in Birch Run outlet. If someone can come up with a clean looking ad for Samsonite LEGO, I can take that in and see how long they spend scratching their heads wondering when they ever carried LEGO or if they still carried them. :D
  12. I have a few of the test bricks including A to D and A variant is really crappy. Megablock seemed better than A variant of LEGO. Sad, and thankfully LEGO settled on better clutch power.
  13. I got all the pictures from facebook to brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1000001_10151914406353403_204226427_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1512595_10151914406258403_1635363892_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1520775_10151914406813403_497683583_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1374723_10151914406473403_1008317803_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1517615_10151914406533403_2122665903_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1551522_10151914406833403_544469638_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1604532_10151914406963403_1250389599_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1555579_10151914406213403_978920483_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1509209_10151914406783403_811571998_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1510807_10151914406633403_1796823488_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1511183_10151914406288403_2041722638_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1525714_10151914406513403_147406138_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1546435_10151914406678403_2057037050_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1554450_10151914406643403_1779211428_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1557586_10151914407108403_809629969_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1512778_10151914405868403_2125712902_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1011422_10151914406078403_100976524_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1545745_10151914405858403_181196637_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1524623_10151914406028403_1149597576_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/5579_10151914406053403_105967599_n.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Lego-0taku/simpsons/1545705_10151914405863403_397002476_n.jpg
  14. But not everyone knows the correct format for international mail so it's best to have your PM display exactly as how it should be displayed on mail and packages. In USA it's NAME ADDRESS 1 ADDRESS 2 (ie apartment or something) CITY, STATE, ZIP COUNTRY (optional if shipping within USA, required if outside USA)
  15. You mean how many volumes. It'd probably end up like Encyclopedia Britannica!
  16. Something for the corner, and release all variants of masonry bricks in dark red.
  17. Now if LEGO would release those masonry bricks in dark red.
  18. Trust me it won't run well, if at all. I have his incomplete version (half an Executor, just under 50k pieces) and my LDD crashed the first time. It wanted to set compatibility mode even though it was already set at the lowest. When I finally got it open, it was hard to just rotate the view or change one piece, the frame rate was at anemic 5 seconds per frame. My computer has dual XEON and LDD, being poorly coded, only used one core out of 24 possible cores. Memory wasn't an issue. Just lots of polygons to compute and display. Maybe LEGO can check into multi-threading LDD in future updates (or with LDD 5.0) so it'd benefit from multi-core and multi-CPU computers. PS unless the creator tells me its OK, the file I have will not be shared at all. I got it only to help with the POV rendering. Funny though it took my computer about 1 hour just to process part list, then about 2 hours to do a 1920x1200 render at default setting, using all 24 processes.
  19. I couldn't make positive ID about the boat hull via Bricklink search: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?q=hull but maybe you can spot something? I've bought random lots off eBay. The average going price seems to be around $5-$7 per pound in USA of clean LEGO and less for mixed lots. The best deal was a $2.50/lbs lot from eBay from Goodwill of Seattle, the picture showed lots of hot wheel cars and plastic soldiers. The price is what I got after removing non-LEGO elements plus $18 I got from flipping a GBA system with a Power Ranger game cart that was included in LEGO lot. mileage always vary. But seller that is connected to Goodwill is almost always 100% mixed random toy, clones, K'Nect, non-brick stuff, and never clean LEGO lot.
  20. if you don't want to share the file, send it to killua @ tds . net (delete spaces) and I'll get it started before I head out tonight. I haven't used any of bbqqq technique, all of my render were done with plain background and no baseplate so it'd be easier to slip in various background. I'd love to try it sometime for chrome effect but atm none of my moc ever used chrome.
  21. In just about every store I've been to, Friends set aren't in the same area as LEGO sets, they are often with girls themed sets like Barbie. If anyone should be complaining, it's that the Friends set are taking away valuable Barbie space.
  22. Time varies unfortunately. International shipping via air can take 2-3 weeks plus there's custom delay as they check packages for potential illegal goods (ie concealed drug or undeclared cash, etc) and to assess tax. Some of the worst cases were 2-3 months.
  23. Did your manual check include mixed new and used parts? Limiting to new or used can reduce the available sources. Also I've had downloaded want list not work right. Once it was looking for white technic axle and got 0 source of it but my want list didn't have any white axle anywhere so I had no idea where that came from. When I retried from the start, I was able to get solutions and there was no mention of white axle the second time. I've tried using and I found something. If I try with "ALL" selected it takes me about 16 hours to find me a few 3 or 4 vendor solutions. All of them are oversea with the cheapest combination totaling almost $50. If I run the same wanted list but limited to USA only it finds only 4 vendor solutions but the total is only about $55. Cheaper shipping within USA vs overworld + shipping time, I think I'll stick to USA only unless I have a huge list of obscure parts that can't be substituted with modern equivalent part(s)
  24. What rendering problem? If you're stuck with LDD to POV_Ray converter or using POV-Ray itself, post what error message it shows, and what version you are using (both converter and render) and someone who is imitate with the converter or render can figure out what is the problem. maybe post your file and someone can check it? Or have him/her render it for you? I'm going to be away mostly for New Years week, so if I get your file by Sunday evenings EST, I could run it at default setting, high res with transparent background, no AA, and send you the finished image to insert the desired background. I have dual XEON and it renders anything easily in 1/50th the amount of time a cheap Walmart junk would need.
