  1. I plan on getting it, I have Lego to buy for the holidays, so I might as well get some GWP's. But if I'm honest, this GWP shows that LEGO is some what out of touch with what Pirate fans REALLY want. It's up to us (the fans), to help clear up that message.
  2. I'd be happy to be a mod for the FB page. BTW, I have seen some of the marauders infiltrating the chat over there... So ya, lol. As for involvement purposes, I'm sure you are not planning another giveaway in the near future, so that's probably a moot point. But if you see some creations or creators that deserve special recognition or what not, I'd be happy to spotlight them. As of now, I tend to focus on Pirates, Castle and LOTR. We also do Harry Potter (because my wife loves it), as well as themes like JP because my kid is into it. As I said in my video, Pirates is first love though. So when I see a Lego Ideas submission for Pirates that is really good, I make a video about it already. So what I'm saying is, Lego Ideas I pretty already have covered, lol. Having said that, I see a lot of people make some really great things that don't end up on ideas or in a BL designer Program. So putting a shine on some of these creators could be a good thing. I don't see as much as you do though, I'm sure. I'm not against some sort of "official" or "semi-official" role either. Or at least listening to ideas on how we can work together to spread Lego Pirates love. When I read that you were a little "over worked" during the contest, I just thought maybe I could help??
  3. Funny enough, I have the hull pieces to make the Renegade Runner, and I DO have a MOC coming up with it in mind. But for that, I'm gonna make a merchant sloop. Those original sails are not cheap, I'm sure (although I haven't looked them up, tbh). But for this size of a ship, I'm thinking a small sloop would look nice. For Ironhook, I just finished my Creator 3-1 MOC/mod. I had some extra red and white sails (leftovers from my BBB mod. I turned that into a redcoat ship and replaced the skull and crossbones sails with regular ones). So those two red and white sails, with the skull and crossbones look good on the creator ship. So it's bigger than the Renegade Runner, but smaller than most other ships. Which is perfect for Ironhook, he is a scoundrel, and by no means one of the "more successful" pirates in my seas. He's no Redbeard for example. As for my Pirate sets of my youth... It's still pains me, lol. I may NEVER get the SES again, and I'll have to carry that burdon. I just can't justify paying those prices for it. I LOVE it, I really do. But for that price I can make a BETTER ship MOC. So that's usually what happens. I'm holding out hope for Lego to remake it though!!
  4. I would be willing to be more involved with not just contests, but Classic Pirates as whole. In case some of you are unaware, but I am a YouTuber that specializes in Lego pirates. I also have a FB group with 2,000 members, discord, etc. If I am given enough advanced notice, I can assist in the planning and judging. I am also willing to make content to help spread the word beyond this forum. Lego Pirates IS and will always be my first love. Anyways I can help the Lego Pirates community grow and flourish, I am willing to do. I don't always post on this forum a whole lot anymore, no. But I post on Classic Pirates FB pretty regularly. So I'm offering my services, just let me know. I'd also add, I'm not "up" on what the controversies regarding the last contest were, but I'd like to add this two cents... Just be grateful that we have some kind folks that are even putting in the work to make these contests happen. You might not be happy with every little aspect, but we should be happy that it's even a thing. Cheers.
  5. Well... I've been a member of this forum since 2014, so that's probably a good starting point, lol. I DID have most of my pirate minifigs still, just no sets. But when I got back into LEGO, I made it a priority to go and get the retired sets I wanted first and foremost. I knew they would just get more and more expensive as time passed. So I kinda started with the classic sets, then the 2009 wave, POTC, and got all of the 2015 wave when they were new on shelves. Since then, I get everything Pirates when it comes out. Which, isn't a whole lot if we are honest. I also did MOC "versions" of some sets like Lagoon Lockup, Saber Island, and the 2009 Soldiers Fort. Which was cheaper than going and buying the actual sets. Plus it scratched the itch for those particular sets. When I was a kid I had Skulls eye schooner, the OG Imperial Flagship, Imperial Trading Post, Rock Island, Forbidden Island, Lagoon Lockup, Saber Island, Broadsides Brig, and more. My step mother (at that time), sold them in a garage sale for pennies, behind my back. I didn't find out until after the fact that they were gone. So when I got back into LEGO, requiring my childhood collection was top priority. Which I pretty much have, and then some. The BIG things I'm missing are the OG Flagship and Skulls Eyes. Which I would LOVE to have them, but the price they go for on the after market doesn't warrant them imo. I can take that money and do a ship MOC that is superior to either one of those sets imo. So that's why I "passed" on them. If I'm honest, I'm holding out hope for a Skulls eye remake similar to BSB remake Lego gave us with Barracuda Bay. I think it'll happen, just gotta be patient. I also have MORE Pirates coming down the pipeline. I just recently added an upper deck to my Black Pearl (I've always been unsatisfied with that stock ship). I plan on doing this to all of my ships going forward, I want an upper deck. I don't like it when the cannon deck is all that Lego gave us. So my BB, BBB, Queen Anne's will all be getting this treatment (when I get more pieces, lol). I also just purchased my third creator 3-1 pirate ship. I'll be using it to do a MOC/MOD, putting cloth sails on it (brick built sails are ugly imo), and giving it to Captain Ironhook. He needs his own ship, lol. I also have a smaller Sloop style ship that I plan on adding in as well. So lots of Pirate related content on the docket, lol.
