LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Toa Palpo replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah it's easily the worst preorder minifig for a LEGO game imho, even worse than sweaty, sand-covered Finn. I am hopeful we'll finally get a release date for the Skywalker Saga tomorrow at the Future Games Show since WB now only has 2 games coming out this year and they have a panel at the show. I just watched Jang's review of the Porsche 911 and I immediately thought of the new Slave I coming out this fall when I saw these pieces. I would not at all be surprised if we see these in dark red as part of the build. They're cool pieces and I hope we see them in a variety of colors in the future but they seem too perfect for Slave I. Wedge 10 x 2 x 2 Left Wedge 10 x 2 x 2 Right -

Wow I'm really impressed by how great the Probe Droid looks! I've always liked that droid so I might get it, we'll see. Kinda disappointed it doesn't include a minifig-scale Probe Droid but it would admittedly take more than a few pieces and there hasn't been many made, certainly not enough for there to be a solid standard build for it. The Vader and Scout trooper helmets are much more impressive than I expected, very well done and excellent shaping. -
Brick built Harry and Hermione is utterly bizarre and certainly an easy pass. A brick-built Fawkes like Hedwig sounds awesome though! The wizard chess set sounds pretty cool to me but is not something I'm willing to spend $250 on. I think if this released in a universally-praised wave, people would feel differently about this inclusion. Honestly, for me most of the sets this year are pretty fantastic. I i know the lack of DH sets sucks but if I'm being totally honest, I vastly prefer the first 4 films and am happy to see remakes of some of the original HP sets as they're pretty nostalgic for me and I especially regret missing out on the Chamber of Secrets. I'm still curious where the pixies come from, do we know? Is it with the Chamber of Secrets section of Hogwarts? Could we be getting a defense against the dark arts moments book set?

I quite like the pixie though the trans blue is odd I wonder why they didn't just go with solid blue. The chess set dtc is exactly what I expected, easy pass.

Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Backwards BP ears are perfect for horns, at least for the classic Daredevil look. If he ends up showing up in the MCU films at some point, they'll likely go with a more armored look and LEGO might give him a special mold but until then the ear piece will do nicely. -
If they decide to do more video game remakes at some point, HP would absolutely be great! Heck, by then they could include all 3 Fantastic Beasts movies and do dlc for whatever show they end up making.

The new Rocket looks pretty good! The dark grey doesn't bother m3 since it looked grey to me in the movie. -

Wow that's a ton of new info. Sets still sound awesome. I have to say the only one that sounds a bit disappointing is the Endgame final battle for the builds but the figures sound great, especially Thanos. I don't know how many of these sets I'll end up getting because Star Wars takes priority(and wow is the rest of the year looking awesome for LEGO Star Wars!) but I'll get as many as I can. LEGO is going to make it harder than usual this year but it's a good problem to have. -

My money's still on it being Shao Lao. -

A new Black Panther helmet sounds great! The ear piece is nice but the BP figures still lack a certain "oomph" that a specialized helmet mold might improve. -
The sets actually sound pretty good! Hopefully they're worth it and aren't hindered by app compatibility as I have no doubt they'll be able to be used with the app. Having proper sets will go a long way toward the success and longevity of the theme, at least for a couple years.

It could very well be Shao Lao which would make a lot of sense given Shang-Chi's Chi powers and the general look of the dragon. As for the newly leaked set, wow that's disappointing. Looks like it'll be a miss. The builds are boring and generic and the figures aren't very exciting. Come on LEGO, we get a movie about a superhero martial arts tournament and one of the sets for it isn't an arena!? For shame... -
They also announced sequels and spinoffs. While there's a vast wizarding world of possibilities, the likelihood of them living up to that is highly unlikely, ESPECIALLY with WB running the show. The only idea I can think of that might make an interesting show is something based on the founders of Hogwarts. Considering they could easily make something like that Game of Thrones-esque, almost guarantees that might be one of the ideas they're considering. We have a copy of CC but we've never read it. Honestly, I'm affraid to.

WOW that's a crazy good lineup! Definitely looking forward to this wave, hopefully they live up to the hype. -

Honestly I would have been perfectly fine if they just gave Vader arm printing but they didn't even bother to do that. I still don't have a Lambda so I'll more than likely pick this set up to fill that gap in my collection at a fairly affordable price which is really the best part of the set. It still looks pretty good on display as long as you don't have it on a high shelf. -

Dangit, I was planning on the summer wave to suck so I can focus my budget on the awesome Star Wars wave we're about to get and the Eternals sets. This is a good dilemma to have though, assuming the sets themselves will end up being good. -
I found an untouched case at my local Target and pulled the 6th box from the back trying to get the Shark Singer but ended up getting the Banshee Singer which is fine, it was still one I wanted just not my favorite.

I do not understand why people keep asking for this, it's utterly unnecessary. The one we have is perfectly accurate, rewatch that scene or do a google image search, When Han goes into carbonite, it dosen't preserve his perfect perm, it smashes his hair down and looks just like the old Han hair piece. -
Yeah, a continuation of the bandmates series and new beatboxes for the music genres yet to be represented by one were expected but sets at $30, $50, $60, and $100!?! Hopefully that means they might actually make more fleshed out sets and hopefully they're good but wow, I definitely wouldn't have expected this. What on earth could the $100 set be and how could it possibly be justified for a theme that's all about minifigs interacting with a gimmicky little app?
-
He also needs the digigrade minifig legs first introduced with the cmf series and has been disappointingly used so sparingly despite how much it could help improve accuracy of figures and is such a cool piece! It bothers me so much when LEGO introduces an awesome piece with tons of potential but then fail to capitalize on it.

Hahaha I think the best we could hope for would be a printed crack over the helmet but I seriously doubt LEGO would go that violent besides, I'd rather they put the budget toward printing for Boba Fett. This is all speculative though, I hope the $30 Target exclusive is remotely as good as what I've suggested but we just don't know. -

Honestly if it was a $40 set I'd say they could easily do the Imperial dropship, Boba Fett and a couple Stormtroopers for a Tython set. At $30 I think it's certainly less likely unless they make a really small dropship or make the shrine with Grogu instead as the build. As far as features, how about Boba Fett to wreck some Stormtroopers, do we really need any other features? I don't think they'd make a tiny Krayt dragon but they could include a Massif, we've never gotten one in LEGO before. -

Or it could be Cobb Vanth's speeder or better yet, a battle on Tython set with Boba Fett. You never know. I probably wouldn't think much of it until we know more. -
So I'm someone who primarily focuses on LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Marvel with the occasional Harry Potter set(though were it not for budget concerns I'd buy them all) though I follow the theme and look forward to seeing the new sets, I can't help but find it amusing and confusing to see pages and pages of people hating on the June wave and speculating ad nauseam on what may or may not make the August wave disappointing. I look at the leaked images and I see some excellent looking sets, then I look at pictures of sets from the past couple years and asside from a change in roof color, I do not understand what people are so upset about becuase these look just as good quality-wise as what we've been seeing for seversl years. The one complaint I can understand is people being tired of the early films getting rehashed and the later films being snubbed, that's a constant problem with LEGO Star Wars where we get the same rehashed original trilogy stuff over and over again while there's tons of prequel trilogy stuff that still hasn't been covered. It's just funny coming to this thread and seeing people complaining about getting lobster when they had been getting caviar meanwhile in the Marvel subtheme people get excited with the occasional shrimp when we usually get nothing but canned tuna. I just wanted to share my amusement and perspective.

The Shang-Chi set looks pretty good! I've seen better dragon builds but it's not bad. I'm disappointed it's not Fin Fang Foom but it could actually be Shao Lao which is almost as exciting! It would also make a lot of sense since they're apparently making Shang-Chi more like Iron Fist by expanding his Chi powers. The minifigs look decent and I really like what they're doing with the Mandarin's ten rings using the One Ring piece and the DC cmf action piece in repetition. I look forward to seeing the other set!
