LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I'm almost willing to bet Cad Bane's ship is the Justifier from Bad Batch, especially for that price. Definitely looking forward that. A $30 Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter that finally gives us Taun We!? Yes please! A $100 18+ buildable BD-1 sounds awesome, definitely upp for that! Edit: wait, promobrick is saying it might come with a minifig-scale brand new mold of BD-1!? That makes it even more enticing and makes me wonder if one of the other sets might actually be related to Fallen Order or the sequel. Another AT-TE I'm totally down for, I wasn't in a place where I could afford one the last time we got a normal version of one, now I am. So far this wave sounds excellent. -

Comparing tBoBF to the ST is utterly absurd for so many reasons. TBoBF is a hundred times better for one thing. The only thing I will agree with you on is that a lot of molds and printing have been wasted on background characters but that was a bigger problem with recent films. At least we're getting more alien heads that are versatile and long sought after like the Quarren. -

This is my hope as well. It definitely seems intentional and giving us a little expansion with Boba's bacta tank, armor/weapon rack with Black K and maybe a "Bacta Boba" would make for a great little $20 set imo but we shall see. I definitely can't wait for sets that are actually based on the show but that could be another year away. -

The Makari hair piece is honestly what I was expecting them to use so I don't mind it even if it isn't perfect. The set itself is a bit small for the price but I really like it. If they included 1 more Gamorean and another additional figure, perhaps an Aqualish or something I think it would have helped. -

I love the palace set!!! It's too bad it's only based on the end credits scene of Mando season 2 but it looks like it could potentially fit a small expansion on top if they wanted to make his bacta tank room. I'm sure this is also just the first of many bobf sets and it serves as a great foundation. -

The Dark Trooper helmet looks pretty good to me. Hopefully with all these sets being revealed, we'll be seeing Boba's Palace very soon. I would not be at all surprised if it gets revealed next week for the finale of BoBF despite it seemingly not having anything from the actual show in it. -

I'm not going to give my hopes up but man I would LOVE to get another Rancor, especially if it's in a new color. They're by far my favorite Star Wars creatures and its such a shame the LEGO molds of it were only used once(not counting the recolored hands used for LEGO Batman Movie Killer Croc). -

I love the Dark Trooper set! It makes for such a nice display and I'm glad yhey gave Luke the new hood piece. Yhe change to the Dark Trooper guns is great, much more accurate and they'll actually be able to point them straight unlike the Stormtrooper blaster mold that clashes with the armor. I'm definitely going to add my Dark Trooper from the cruiser in there. $30 is also pretty reasonable for what you get. Also, I like the boxart. I wonder if we're going to get a Mando set that includes Grogu in that pram some time this year. Also, I'm really looking forward to getting a good look at Boba's Palace. -

I'm impressed by good the new helmets look. Din's puts Boba's to shame and it pa8ns me to say that given how plain and boring I generally find Din's helmet to be. All the shaping and texturing and especially the subtle angling of the sides all work to great effect and really goes to show how they are improving with these helmets. It's too bad Boba's looks so dated by comparison. -

I get it, it just sucks, especially with a set like this we're not going to get another of anytime soon. Hopefully they thought ahead and designed it with expansions in mind. -

I gotta say, while I'm really looking forward to the Boba's Palace set, it's such a huge wasted opportunity for it to be based on the end credits scene of Mando when there's so much more it could have had based on the show. Hopefully it's designed with expansion in mind so we can get things like Boba's room with the bacta tank and certain important characters from the show like Black K. -

That's basically how I'm expecting the new palace set to be where you have the option for it to be Bib Fortunas then have Boba come in and take it. Especially the figure selection is accurate. Kinda like how there was a Millennium Falcon set that could be converted between OT and ST. -

Y'know, now that you mention it, so do I. Well, I also really liked the first 10-20 minutes. DSitMoM is my most anticipated phase 4 film so I'm really looking forward to getting the Gargantos set. I wonder if it'll get delayed or if they're going to make mid-production changes like they've done in the past like the Ant-Man set given the design flaw Brickset did an article about the other day. It's surprising such a building technique was allowed to go through but I do hope it doesn't affect its release. -

Dang, was hoping for a January release. Ah well. I doubt they'll wait that long to reveal them. I feel like they'll reveal one at the start and one later in the season just like they've done with the Mandalorian and the "Mando Mondays". I expect that the Boba's Palace will only contain things we've seen in the trailers, especially since we know what figures are included and I suspect the 2 unnamed Bounty Hunters are the 2 masked characters we see jumping across rooftops that have appeared in several scenes in the trailers. The other set might be more spoiler-y, or it'll be some sort of throne room for the Ithorian warlord which would probably be the only other thing I think they could reasonably do based solely on the trailers. -

It's exactly that, as if the reason a UCS Gunship wouldn't sell well would be because it was a prequel era vehicle and not a hundred other possible factors; affordability(especially given a global freakin' pandemic where money is really tight for most people), it being a troop carrier that's out of scale for carrying troops, saving up for a possible future PT UCS of a different vehicle, competition with a frankly amazing wave of system-scale Star Wars sets including several PT era sets, etc. It's just an utterly wild assupmtion for them to have made. Luckily it seems like it has sold well so hopefully they will make more PT UCS sets because there are so many PT era ships that would make incredible(and highly profitable) UCS sets. Anyway, I'm excited to see what they do this year and I'm very hopeful for the possibility of ep2 sets for the anniversary of the film. As for what we have so far, I'm a sucker for AT-STs so I'm getting the Hoth AT-ST, I'm getting the Clone Trooper accessory pack, I might get the Hoth Trooper bp and the Rebel accessory pack but those are far less important to me and would probably be more impulse buys and frankly depends on what we end up getting later in the year. Number 1 thing on my list though is tBoBF sets and we haven't even seen them yet. Btw, do we have any idea if tBoBF sets are supposed to be January or March sets? -

Some of those figures are pretty decent. Rhino and Ms. Marvel both look great! Might have to bricklink those. I also like the Spider-bot piece. -

Also, am I crazy or did LEGO sign a deal with Universal to make LEGO Jurassic World movies after canceling plans to make a LEGO Batman sequel? Didn't that happen last year or something? Now I have to look it up... -

The set looks excellent! I'm surprised it's Gargantos and not Shuma-Gorath but I have a feeling Gargantos will be a minion of Shuma-Gorath. The bew figures look excellent, I'm really digging Doctor Strange's new comic-accurate look. It's infuriating though that this is the only set we are apparently getting for the movie... -

I really like that Hoth AT-ST set(but I'm also a sucker for AT-STs), the walker looks really good and I love that Probe Droid, finally a decent minifig-scale Probe Droid! I'm happy we're getting a snow-covered Chewie too. My only complaint is that it should be Han instead of a random Rebel trooper but that's fairly minor. The Snowtrooper bp is also quite good and I love that speederbike build and it's really smart of them to have it be the exact same as the ones in the UCS AT-AT . I have no plan to get the UCS but I can definitely see people who do buying a bunch of the bp to fill out the AT-AT. Very smart LEGO. I like the new packaging too. All in all a great start but what I'm really excited for is tbobf sets! Hopefully they'll be revealed before too long if those sets are coming January 1st too. -

The Wolverine mech is the best of the bunch and it's nice to get Wolverine again, though I think the old figures I have are better. He really needs dual molded legs or at the very least printed legs. At least it appears to be new printing. Hopefully this is the start of LEGO making more X-Men sets again. I wonder if the reason they did this set is because of X-Men 97? The Iron Man mech is...fine, at least it's a brand new figure. The Black Panther mech is terrible but the new figure is pretty nice, though I'm glad they gave him claws I wish they weren't the exact same as Wolverine's. They could have at least been black if not an entirely new piece like in the LEGO Marvel games. The buildable Iron Man is better than I expected and I like the new piece they used for the faceplate and shoulder pads but it's still not great and still a bizarre decision that feels like a complete waste of a slot when we could have gotten literally anything else for the Infinity Saga line. -

The figure selection for Boba Fett's Palace sounds pretty good. I'm definitely curious about the 2 unknown bounty hunters. I won't give my hopes up for it being a couple of classic Bounty Hunters we all know and love like Cad Bane, Embo, Zuckuss, Bossk etc. Chances are they will be a couple of generic figures but hopefully they at least look good and use some nice parts and hopefully some alien heads. Given the price of the set and figuring in the high probability that it includes a Rancor, I think this is an acceptable amount of figures. I fully expect the other bobf set to include the Ithorian gang leader though and I would LOVE it if we got a new mold that includes the translator but more than likely it'll be the exact same Ithorian head with the exact same print in the exact same color. If they could at least print the translator on the head piece, I would be fine with that. Can't express how happy I am that an Ithorian is going to be a main character in something though! I would love to see more Ithorians prominently featured in the future, they're so dang cool! I wo der if the other bobf set might be the "Hammerhead's" citadel/throne room? That would be fitting I think to have the "main base" for the protagonist and antagonist if you will. -

I will take specialized animal molds over brick-built abominations any day. I'll be really disappointed if the BoBF comes with an awful-looking brick-built Rancor. I'm so happy I have the 2013 one but it feels like LEGO can't seem to make up their minds on how thwy want to do LEGO animals. To me, LEGO animals are in a similar boat to LEGO minifigures and shouldn't have to be "built" 9 times out of 10 they look significantly worse than specialized equivalents. Besides, LEGO has established a consistent style with specialized animal molds and I see zero problem with that. I find it amusing when people say something made by LEGO is "not LEGO-like" as if someone snuck in and dropped a toy from a different toy company in the box or something. What is the criteria for being "LEGO-like"? Most LEGO animals have studs or bar connections, most are made of multiple pieces, if they have feet, they are able to connect to studded surfaces. All that's left is the argument specialized molds are hard to use for mocs and to that I say perhaps you're not being creative enough -
