It depends on the viewpoint.... In my opinion Bard is just a unexpected bonus. Just take a look at the blue Bilbo target exclusive minifigure from AUJ. The cheapest one on bricklink is now 45,99 $ (without shipping). I'm sure Bain will do the same and the price will increase more and more. So getting the Bo5A DVD with a blue Bard and a exclusive Bain figure for 26,99 $ isn't a bad deal in my viewpoint

I'd need advice on a LOTR/ The Hobbit project

Hi If you are interested particularly in army building i would recommend getting as much Mirkwood elf armies as possible and pass on the other sets you are considering buying. There are 1 warg, 3 elfes and 2 Orcs in that set which makes a nice army when you're buying multiple of them. Thranduil will be a good figure to sell in the future because he isn't included in any other Hobbit set - but he's a very important character. So you can save some money when selling the spare Thranduils Dol Guldur Battle, Battle of five armies and Lake Town attack aren't very good army builder sets because there a only two Orcs in each of the sets - the same number as in the Mirkwood Elf Army Unfortunately Uruk Hais are getting more and more expensive and aren't nearly affordable now. When you're interested in getting some of them I would recommend you buying them quickly on BL because the price is increasing nearly every day. Getting some Moria Orcs is a good alternative - they match better with the CMF Goblins and aren't that expensive than the Uruks -
Wonderul work I really love the technique you used for the mirror. Furtnermore the vetetation on the ground is very nice to. Great job

Getting Bain and Bard along with the DVD is really a good deal. As a european it's very frustrating knowing that these DVD box is only available from resellers. Nonetheless it's a bit strange that the decided to include Bard - why not a new character or a least a different version from a character we already have...

Reading all those Toy Fair Reports about the new sets from other themes makes me as Middle Earth fan really sad. In the last years we always heard descriptions about the upcoming Hobbit/LotR waves.... but now there's just silence and I start realizing more and more that the long journey, which began in 2012, is over now. Like Sam said in RotK: "Yes Mr. Frodo... It's over now" :(

You're right - I had the impression too that the Moria Orcs look smaller than the Mordor Orcs. Nonetheless using short legs doesn't work very well because they look too cute than .
