[MOD] Imperial Shuttle and two First order TIE
PaulPrime replied to mordatre's topic in LEGO Star Wars
You know that feeling when something is stuck at the back of your head and you can't stop thinking about a way to achieve a better landing gear for your imperial shuttle? No? Well, I have it, so I had to make another modification when I reached home. Here are the picutres. Flight mode (the way it will be displayed most of the time). The new landing gear fold nicely and it is almost invisible. Landed mode. Where is the trick? My solution for the landing gear works visually (at least for me), but it is not functional, The "legs" hang freely as there is no friction. In flight mode the wings push the "legs" up so you only have to position the "feet" a little to achieve a smooth underside. In landed mode the "feet" have to be positioned flat against the surface, as the ship rest in the trans yellow pieces (I put two more of them in the back). This last picture shows the trick. That's all. The best part is that you already have some of the pieces required for this mod from the original landing gear. I'm satisfied with my solution and unless something better appears I will keep this non-functional fake landing gear. Hope you like it. Comments and criticism are welcome. -
7965 Millennium Falcon. It is in a permanent WIP state as I never stopped modding it. There is always something more than can be improved.

[MOD] Imperial Shuttle and two First order TIE
PaulPrime replied to mordatre's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I am in the process of updating my shuttle and I kinda like the used look after including some slightly yellowed pieces. It depends on the location and the piece itself, so I have to agree it can be difficult to achieve the look you want. I am curious about the modded landing gear and how it fits in flight mode. Does anybody have a picture of that? If not,I may give it a try, I think I have the required parts in my bin. Edit: I was talking about mordrate's picture and as he said, the landing gear does not fold neatly at all (left one). However, it looks very accurate when landed. I think I will keep the original system until a better solution appears. There are a lot of great modders around so it's just a matter of time. -
You are very kind, thank you very much. If I knew about this excellent MOC I would never purchased the one from Lego. I think I will dismantle it, save the pilot and some pieces and bricklink the rest to build your creation.

Option three for me. Every update increase the awesomeness of your creation. Can't wait for the definitive version.

I have not watched the movie yet nor I have that encyclopedia, but the speeder looks very nice. Excellent work! I love the effect of the flexible hoses, I have to bricklink some. Is the roof stable enough to hold the vehicle and swoosh it? Also, could you please place a minifigure inside to see how it fits?

Thank you! I have not seen the movie yet , so I can't judge the accuracy of the model. Everything is better with a gun on the top, I guess. One last extra picture with a pair of round tiles to improve the look of this gun.

The vehicle included in 75131 battle pack is not bad, but it seems unfinished to me. Although the stars in the pack are the minifigures I couldn't help adding some pieces and modding it a bit. The main improvement is of course that now the gun can rotate. I hate when the minifgures hold the air close to a steering wheel, lever or handle so I fixed that too for both the driver and the gunner. Some tiles and slopes to smooth the surfaces and it's done. I apologize for the bad pictures. My cellphone camera is all I have at hand. Well, that's all about it. Nothing too complicated or innovative but now I can look at the little thing without hearing "Mod it now!" in my head. Any comment will be welcomed. Thanks for your attention.

Amazon Spain has the new battle packs of resistance and rebel soldiers with a 3€ discount today so I picked one of each, plus a micro fighter Ghost at minus 1€ because I want Hera.

Oh, it's beautiful. I like the attention put in the underside. Does it have an interior? -

Far better than the official one, great job! I love the opening at the left side and the gunner position. -

I'm glad I sent my order before TLG closed the store. It appears as «in warehouse» right now. -
My girlfriend just ordered the Tydirium with —20% discount in Amazon. Merry Christmas to me :)

Thanks to this Forum I have ordered a bunch of «hard to find and/or in expensive sets» bricks and pieces from, well, Lego Bricks & Pieces, including the new Vader helmet in two parts, crossbow, wigs, hats... Thank you guys, you rule.

Weekly payments are common in Mexico, as far as I know. Monthly payments are usual in Europe.

Oh, didn't know you were looking for ideas, check the interior

Well, great minds think alike, I suppose. I made very similar mods to mine some time ago. I also extended the rear fin by one stud to be more accurate to the source material.
-
I don't remember who exactly wrote in this forum that he reduced the front width to three studs using jumper plates. It came to my mind after some time and I decided to give it a try. I actually like it a lot, so thank you whoever you are. While I was at it I smoothed the surface a bit.

Rey's speeder as well bought through Amazon Spain. No quality issues.
-
Well, that was totally unexpected. Good job and good luck in the contest.
-
Those offers were in place on Amazon Spain two days ago. Not really interested, I sent 4 orders in BrickLink to build a custom Tie Fighter in scale with my MF instead.

I don't really like the prequel trilogy, but I could admire this astonishing creation for hours. I can see the inspiration from Blade Runner, and I truly love that movie. How much it weighs? I suppose is somewhat modular, otherwise you will need a crane to move it.
