I like the third version the most. I think the latest is a bit tall and one gun deck suits this ship. Otherwise it looks a bit tall, but that is my opinion. Duke

Excellent ship mate! You did a wonderful job on her. The best part in my opinion is the rigging and I like how proportional the entire ship is. Adding another mid section could be done without compromising proportionality, but that is entirely up to you. Duke

I like the overall design of your fort. I really like how those smaller cannons look on it, but I think it would be cramped even if you had 1 person operating 2. I would either take some cannons away or widen the structure. The docks look good. In the future I will be building a fort to accommodate my ships, so I will be watching this thread. I hope you build soon. Duke

That is a nice ship! Having eight center-sections leads me to believe you are really maxing out those prefab hulls. I like the color scheme save for the blue gun ports. I like the shape of the bow, but why does the ship gradually get taller toward the back? You have a very nice captain’s quarters. I like the gangway and how it fits a rowboat, and all the windows in the stern. Duke

Nice ship lad! She is really massive. I like the color coordination and especially how the ship gets smaller toward the rear. The shape reminds me of the man-o-war they had on Master and Commander when they were looking at a model of the phantom ship. Does it have a name yet? Duke

Your ship is coming along very nicely bro. I think you are going to have to make the part below the waterline. For one thing it will complete the ship and make it look even better than it already is. Besides that, I am not saying it has to be done right away, but it will greatly help us in determining how fast our other ships will be able to go. Not only will this be vital to our gaming, but it will give everyone else an idea of just how fast or slow many of the non-MOC ships are. Duke

Excellent review! I really like this set and so I gave it a 5/5. This set is on my list to get. I especially like the speedy pirate boat, and the also very fast outrigger canoe with a sail. I don't think a small number of these cannibals will make much of an impact on gaming though, even if they get a bonus with spears. Duke

Which would you buy - The Caribbean Clipper or Red Beard Runner?
Dukesc replied to Big T's topic in LEGO Pirates
I would go with the Caribbean Clipper however that may be biased due to my liking if the “good guys.” Also, ever since I was in 3rd or 4th grade I saw a CC in the grade school library on display as a part of a project and ever since I wanted it. Looking at it from an unbiased view you need to look at the pros and cons of each. CC Pros Wonderful color coordination Realistic cannon setup Highly collectible Soldiers Brown hull Better sails CC Cons Why is the mast support coming down into the center of the ship? Only one center section No captain’s cabin Needs two more cannons to make complete No rear sail The driver has no easy access to the rest of the crew Rare RBR Pros Awesome skull design on the back Captains cabin More people 2nd hull section makes it more MOCer friendly More common RBR Cons If rebuilding to make better, many of the rainbow colors likely wouldn’t suit most people. Cannons on sliders are you serious? And, no space for people near the rear one. Captain’s cabin filled with junk to make it collapsible There is a treasure chest mounted in the floor behind the driver making rear defense difficult Red hull The sails have holes and are too high The mast supports are too short in the front and too tall in the rear The driver has no easy access to the rest of the crew Either one is a good base to make a magnificent MOC and may be worth buying. I have both and only buy when the price is right and other collectors seem to not be watching the auctions. Last week I bought a Skull’s Eye schooner for $108.50 however it was missing $42.50 worth of sails that I immediately bought on Bricklink. That still is a very good price for this ship. My suggestion is to wait and especially look for the BSB as it was re-released and seems like it goes for less than it should. I bought one of mine complete for $102, which I believe is right around the original price. Let us know when you purchase a ship, and be patient when looking. Duke -
I like the all black tower in the first one, but I like the little roof in the back with an opening in the second one. I too think this resembles what a real set could have been like. Good job. Duke

EB Pirates Episode 2 - Welcome to Port Paraiso!
Dukesc replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
Great job guys! I enjoyed reading this, and appreciate the effort put forth to make such an astounding comic. My favorite part is the battle scenes. I read it through twice and went back through again just to look at the excellent MOCs. Duke -
I use to sit on the floor, but leaning over for 12 or more hours is tough, so now I have a card table. I eat before, but come downstairs for food and may have some dill pickle chips or popcorn. I let my wife use the tv, but that may change when we get her tv here or buy an LCD. I do take the computer though. I don’t listen to music, for there is no stereo upstairs, yet. Now for what many of you may laugh at and be surprised to hear. I claim my Legos are my nephews and I am storing them for him, but truthfully I have no nephew. I made 5 Bricklink orders this morning and felt so excited, but went through the entire day bottling it all up until I finally called my brother. He is the only one I can talk to about it. I go through life in phases and have spent over $1,000 some months on Legos. Then I’ll get into one of my many other hobbies and put Legos on the back burner. Sorry. I for some reason don’t want others to know about it. I would rather talk to most people about my cars trucks motorcycles, racing and things of that sort. I ride around in a nice 78 Lincoln Mark V rolling on 22s with a sound system which has caused accusations of sounding like thunder on overcast days, then……. I secretly go up to my Lego room when no one is looking and indulge myself. My wife knows of my obsession, and it doesn’t bother her. Duke

Thank you for sharing your creation with everyone. I believe you have created a MOC not listed in the index yet. This is a nice little MOC, and I appreciate the addition of a 5 gun salute as I was in one for a funeral when a friend of mine died while I was deployed. You even have it set up the same way it was when I participated in a real one, except the rifles shot at an angle toward the back and there was no one behind while the rifles were shot. This way the rounds wouldn’t go near anyone’s head. Also, there is someone, such as a sergeant, who should lead the rifle squad, so that everyone shoots in sync. He should stand so his view of the burial is blocked by the rifle squad. Keep looking for real Lego to buy so that you can replace the imitation. They are not cheap and I don’t foresee them getting cheaper. The redcoats with shakos and backpacks are going for around $5 now. Duke

My favorite of these would by far be the Imperial Outpost. I like the Imperial Guards the most, however this is the only set of the "good guys" I have yet to posses. I shall have one soon one way or another. *skull* Duke

What a spectacular MOC! You truly are creative to no end. I don’t understand all of it, but by and large you have done an exceedingly grand job of creating this MOC! My favorite part is how the boat is tilting from the man pulling on the rope. You’ve earned your MOC expert tag. Indeed, I do intend to start a major project this summer; however it is sort of an anti-piratey project as it were. I will have to rearrange my "new" Lego room as my nearly three month old daughter claims the old one and everything is currently in disarray. I’d like to finish 4 ships before that gets underway though. Duke

I have more blues than reds, however I prefer the reds over the blues. When I started to collect them the Imperial Guards caught my imagination. Bring it on Pirates!!!

I'd like to have a pet monkey someday, and so thats what I chose.

Congratulations on your purchase lad! I am currently looking to buy one in the near future to complete my collection of having all of the Lego pirate theme ships. This is a great addition to any collection. I hope you enjoy her. Do you plan to keep it as the instructions say or will modifications come soon after the build? I like to keep at least one model without modification of each ship. This is why it costs me a lot to build new ones.

Whew! I just went through about 8 pages of me bros forum. Man do I have some catching up to do. Anyways, this ship is coming along fantastically. I don

This is a magnificent ship! *y* *y* (its technically a cutter) I gave it a 5. It is my second all time favorite of all the pirate sets, and so I bought two of them. I like the overall look of the vessel. It has great color, excellent cannon arrangements, and is very realistic. One of my favorite aspects of the vessel is that you can change the flags along with the crew and wulla a larger Imperial vessel. *sweet* Duke

Pirate Maniac, Nice ship so far. The way your hull is designed reminds me of the ship below that is in the ship index. I really like the way this builder finagled the Lego plates to have some super nice lines. I also like your cannons spacing. If she has 12 cannons when done she will be a brig sloop. What era your ship be in? And what waters your ship be pillaging? Duke
-
Phred Nice ship bro! *y* *y* Why didn't you tell me you were building another ship? Anyways I like the color scheme and especially how this appears to be a pretty sleek early 19th brig sloop. This ship is probably a little more in my class than your Dame du Loup, but then again you still have the Dame du Loup and now I shall have to battle more ships :'-( . Oh well this will just add to the excitement. *sweet* Duke

SkaForHire Wow! One of the nicest; thank you. Here are a couple examples of British ships. They both use the black and yellow color coordination. HMS Surprise HMS Victory As far as the era of my ship; I am not quite sure. I was hoping to squeeze it into the late 18th century with the HMS Victory. I believe a French corvette is the same size as a British sloop. Yes, everything is accessible and will be. I prefer everything to be that way. I will detail the interior in the future with pictures to follow. I have decided to use the same size (1x4x5) door you used, only mine will be brown. It will be in the center entrance to the captain

Mister Phez When the space below the windows is filled in the little corners you see will be covered as they are inside where the windows lower edge will be. None of them will be sticking out. I have also noticed the same thing and if it is still visible with the finished product I was going to use wings, but I am open to new concepts such as the curve you showed me. Duke

Thank you for the compliments. The color scheme is suppose to mimic the black and yellow used by the British. Phred I don

Hello All, I've still got to make a bricklink order to finish my ship, but here is what I have so far. I reworked where the cannon ports will be and will now have 16 nonMOC cannons on the gun deck. There will also be a total of 4 smaller cannons to serve as chasers; two in the front and two in the back. I haven
