The Torino is a 2F/2WR ship. I drew inspiration from the Pinnace on Sid Meier's Pirates. It has a working tiller steer too!

[OL-MRCA] The Resurrection finds a lost Soul

That looks awesome Phred!I really like the design of the sea turtle too, it's topnotch! It's great to have Captain Kaleb back with Oleon and hopefully he'll find a new vessel to Captain soon. That's a great shot of the leeboards you've been working on too. A little background information for everyone, Kaleb is my 6 year old son and this is his own created avatar. When it comes to Legos Kaleb tells me he is on Phred's side. -

What a brilliant display! I too will be taking notes to incorporate ideas on future builds. My only regret is not being able to go. -
All comments are appreciated! I enjoyed building it and look forward to improve with my next builds.

Thank you for the comments on my ship! The sails are actually made of very thick paper. The guns are kept in storage somewhere and can be put back on for wartime. I display my ships and like the look with the mini privateering/warship having mini cannons. I have always wanted to make a neat little ship that utilized the Crossbone Clipper hull.

First of all, I think this game is absolutely fantastic as is! It brought me back into Eurobricks altogether and I am really excited to watch it evolve! I think that ships should start from their last position as it adds a sense of realism. The ratings should include 4F and have classes up to 1st rate. I agree that we should be told what your ship is rated as. I also agree that everyone should get refunded and then have to buy back the appropriate license. I also think we could entertain the idea to add or remove cannons. This would allow the owner to increase a warship cargo from 0. Maybe have a cheaper port fee rather than new license to add/remove cannons? I strongly feel judging of MOCs should be strictly in the challenges. The last thing I want is to scare away would be long termers only due to initial and overly critical judging. Otherwise, respectful and useful help should come in that MOC's thread. Besides that, Bricklink isn't always a quick or affordable option for everyone. At some point most of us who display and have limited Legos will somewhat plateau on build quantities at which time we should make any improvements we haven't done already and also agree with. No one agrees with all criticism received, regardless who it's from. Upkeep, if we have it, should be larger as the ship gets bigger. Maybe the smallest ships could have a very small amount of upkeep.

The Comet is an Oleon merchant ship rated as a 2F.

Here is the newest addition to Oleon's fleet of merchant ships. Her name is Starliner and she is a class 2F trading vessel. Sir Admiral Duke is exploring the new world with his Starliner and crew. The color scheme of this ship suits he and his hand-picked crew's knack of laying low during the day and then swooping in during the wee hours of the night. They are well known in the new world by making his unsuspecting rivals be overtaken whilst they are literally dreaming of treasure and conquest. There are symptoms of unrest that have been undiagnosed in other countries causing Oleon's enemies to be terrified trying to fall sleep.

Captain Dee, You are correct, he is my oldest brother and he certainly is a good person. So, we have tractors in common! In real life I have always made friends with local farmers, who appreciate me driving their heavy equipment as my own therapy. The only John Deere I have apart from Ertl collectibles is a a vintage snowmobile. Thank you Kolonialbeamter! I thought I should join Oleon before the 1st, so that I can contribute what I've been working on. Living up to my title comes naturally, so watch out! -

Allow me to introduce to you Sir Admiral Duke! He was the third born into a middle class Oleon family. At the age of 18 he shocked everyone, leaving the family tradition of becoming a great naval architect, as his oldest brother carried this family torch. He tried his hand at the army just like his second older brother and again he left that as well. Then he attempted to become a farmer much like his younger sister and knew he was destined for something else. Through his worldly travels he eventually left his fellow Oleonders, but brought with him their values and beliefs. His closest friends and family members have generally been heavily involved and high ranking members of the Oleon Church. During a time of peace he found himself in the country of Corrington where he realized his true calling in life, which was being a great leader for those worthy enough to follow his success at sea. He grew to the rank of Admiral, and lead ships and ship convoys of all sizes. This is where he found he could navigate and shoot with the best of them, especially finding his edge during the hours of darkness. He longed to be closer to his family and having been betrayed by his new government in the division of royalties, he opened up communication with King Stéphan II of Oleon. The King offered Duke a position in his growing Navy, giving him aspirations to one day have more ships following his command. Duke accepted this offer and during times of peace he's found himself managing merchant vessels as well. He is ambitious and has plans to grow and finance his influence on this ever expanding world. -
Your ship looks great overall! I would either lengthen the ship or reduce the number of cannons. Reloading appears to require having to climb over the cannons. There also could be some railing and a way to stand above the cabin. Your main and mizzen mast could go back some too. Is there a clock on the steering wheel? I would have a larger crew as well so you can operate at least a full broadside and drive your ship.

First of all, welcome to Eurobricks. The picture quality is fine. Now, with the hope of getting her underway in less than a year, you will need a much larger construction crew. It's difficult to picture what it will look like, sine it's in it's infancy. Are you going to use this technique for the entire ships? How many studs in length and width will it be? How many levels will it have. How many cannon will it have? Are you using any real or model ships as inspiration?
-
Well put Horry and SirSven7. Legobeard, do not be deterred by anyone, when there are so many people here willing to be helpful with your MOCing. The best way for you to improve is by doing it. Now then, back to your Moc. I suggest you build up the ship some, even if it's in a broken up manner. Is there a story line?
-
Darth Yogi, Great progress so far. It looks a bit like a brig to me, with size, masts and number of cannon. I suggest you make the widest part of the ship to be further forward. A ship, such as this, generally isn't widest in the center. Duke
-
Thanks Darth. I am making it two masted, because I really like the ship in the picture and it is very close to the same width and length of the inspirational ship I showed in my previous update. Hopefully you’ll like it more with the rigging. Thanks Admiral. I am making it mostly historically correct, however the stern is going to stay mostly as is, since it is my favorite part of the ship. I may decorate it and make minor changes though. I am going to be buying new planking for the decks. They certainly won’t be black and it should make the ship pop a little bit more. Thanks Alak. You were correct about the masts needing to get smaller as they go up. I hope you like the changes. The capstan is now smaller and I added barrels to store the levers. I made the capstan smaller by about 3 studs in diameter. Here is how I made the rear mast come in at a 7 degree angle. I added two small carronades as stern chasers. I changed the water line, so that it is more gradual and not mostly flat. I also added one mid section so that it would be a 18 gun brig. I started on the rigging. This is quite a long process and many of the times I needed a second set of hands from my wife, as seen in the first picture. Here is what she looks like currently. I wasn’t able to work on much of the front rigging, because I was short by one piece. It happens to be a 2x6 plate with stud holes in it. Grrr It is needed to mount the front mast correctly. In the picture it isn’t nearly as solid as the rear mast.

I have been making some changes to my ship, to include making it a 2 masted Brig instead of a 3 masted Sloop. After one more Bricklink order my ship should be about ready. I still have to finish the interior of the captain's cabin, since it hasn't changed in 3 years. I am going to make the steering wheel function with ropes and pulleys. I also have to make the Kitchen, finish the rigging, make the sails and do some touch ups here and there. The capstan does function and can be used for either anchor. I have to order a longer technic piece, so I don't have to use the round 2x2 bricks to hold it together. This is one of the many ships I drew inspiration from when doing the rigging. It’s not stable yet without the strings, but this is just to give you an idea of what the masts will look like.

I revamped the spacing between the cannons, so there are now 6 studs instead of 4 between each one. This will reduce my cannon count on the lower deck from 16 to 12, but there will be more room for the crew, thus giving it a higher rate of fire. I was also originally thinking I'd use smaller cannons, but they can go on the smaller hulled ships and on the top decks. Duke
