  1. That combiner uses the Leech ball's hemispheres for insect eyes. That is pretty unique itself. It looks like everything Bitil aspired to be, but ultimately failed in becoming. My favorite Kaita was the first to appear in (possibly non-canon, but still) comic form. "Matoran Kaita 1" from the McToran sets and their mini promo comic. (Or alternatively Onepu's ascent to godhood)
  2. I really doubt that LEGO would make unique characters important to a plot look too similar to eachother. Appearance is a part of Characterization. The protectors really do look different from eachother, but not drastically enough for me to think that their appearances display different personalities; this is unlike the Piraka, toa teams, and titan sets. They have a very close uniformity, I could see them being like the Kohrok-Kal. Each would be a different being, but not really unique in terms of character development. This could be an initial thing however, with them being developed into characters as they interact more with the world. This is all conjecture of course, which is pretty much all we can make until we learn this new story. On the sticker vs printed debate, I would be OK with stickers only if they arent essential parts of a set's appearance. Using the same example as Aanchir, my little brother wanted the stickers on his Stormer XL but I personally would leave stickers off of any shell pieces or armor if they are just flair or decorative. In the inevitable time that those start to peel off they become really unattractive and leave that residue. One of the two sets I got to test out CCBS was Cragger. I kind of feel like his chest piece looked really amazing, but I really don't see a use for that ball of chi when MoC'ing an original character because it is so distinctive to the Chima universe. It probably could have used a sticker instead, but that might cost the shininess. When these images become more necessary is with parts like the LOSS' face. If he had just a blank plate there it wouldn't like a spider's face. The completeness of the set is preserved by the printing that wont peel away over time to render the spider faceless. The part is more unique than something like a Chi-charged armor plate, and isn't just a part of the universe's lore that is hard to ignore. (It definitely could be said that LOSS would be better off, and more BIONICLE-esque with a head made entirely from Technic. Im kinda liking the cartoony style this wave has though. Previous titans looked full-on robot without any living features) I really just wish LEGO would package as few printed pieces as possible, but include a duplicate, non-printed piece for every one in a set as a spare. At the cost the higher price at least we would have more parts to work with and more options. This could make certain sets more worth their price, especially limited-edition promotional cases such as the Chi action figures.
  3. Im not sure about a TV show still. I really hope if they make a show they will at least make it a little more mature than the shows they currently have, like maybe if it was like The Last Airbender/Korra(havent seen Korra but ive heard good things). Fire nation puns aside, it can have charming humor and more intense, serious conflicts in a more fleshed out world than Chima or Ninjago.
  4. well something I neglected to mention (and still farfetched), looking at the skullspiders in Lewa and Tahu's box arts their legs seem to have stoppers on the backs and above the joints themselves. They could probably brace the legs onto the skulls, letting them push on the mask while giving the legs a more bionicle-esque appearance. Still reason to be skeptical, because if the perspectives arent off the legs dont look long enough even with the hooks to fold up for this. We just need more to talk about and speculate on. Full-length BIONICLE film in theaters? The documents suggested this as a possibility if I recall.
  5. With the fur boots idea, show him strutting around in the ridiculously large fur boots of a true Toa-hero.
  6. This is pretty farfetched but hear it out: When I first saw the Skull Spiders I thought they would have a jumping function like the plastic frogs or playset Visorak because they have 4 legs. You see air lines edited into the box arts with the spiders moving towards each toa. The legs have been redesigned at least once. Is it possible they could have made heavy friction, positionable legs that still incorporate a leaping function? This might further look uncreative in retrospect though since HF apparently just did that.
  7. That horrible Stormer. Queen beast just wanted to raise her babies into big, city-smashing abominations. Stormer has orphaned all those poor invaders from below. OT: I definitely want more creature sets to come from the Character and Creature Building System. I am not really disappointed by LOSS' design based what we can see right now. I think the use of a printed chest piece to make a spider face was very different and is a cool concept. It may still having MoC'ing potential for some eldritch horror type characters or something as well as more arachnids or other bugs. Maybe someone can MoC orange Nui-Rama now in full ccbs! Especial with all them Technic beams in the LOSS box! That on top of him having a function makes him a target for me definitely. That is actually pretty awesome in concept. He is now Toakhiin- Heroborn! (Hey this could totally be your next drawing! :D) Fur/leather armor can have metal studs. In D&D thats a whole +1 on top of the usual armor class of the item right there.
  8. Dr Strange, Thor, Lady Sif, Deadpool, Scarlet Witch, someone else with variety. The one's I listed could bring in new pieces. I would not be offended by an ultrabuild character with hair. It would provide a needed piece for MoC's other than Galidor's Allegra head which is as rare as it is unattractive when combined with most Constraction pieces. Sif and Thor could get us new styles of weapons and armor (maybe a shield that is a shield and not 2 swords stuck together?), Dr Strange could have his cape, Deadpool with any luck will not be a copout and would have new katana pieces and red bones. Im having trouble finding relevant female superheroes to the modern Marvel media to break some more diversity in. She-Hulk, Storm and Wasp? Im surprised when they were making DC Ultrabuilds that Wonderwoman wasn't tossed around as an idea. Female characters are horribly underrepresented in Constraction, I think they can pull it off if they really tried.
  9. I expect that to be the point of the hooked legs pot-wise, but you can see the clip's shape on the spiders like the MoCr's on half the new images. I knew that is directed at retailers, the heavy emphasis on the "complex" plot with "Important plan of development and consolidation of the IP" that I found interesting. I think the new lore will eventually grow to be large like BIONICLE's old one. It is just not clear how large. They might find a way to make the plot more detailed and complex than the other IPs currently out while still making it accessible for fans.
  10. I saw at one of TTV's videos that someone gave a translation for Bionicle's sales pitch to retailers in the comments. It is mostly just sales jargon, but this is pretty exciting to me. It shows that LEGO will go all out, and possibly that they want to do their best with reviving BIONICLE. The one expectation I'll hold high for LEGO on BIONICLE is that they will have an amazing multimedia campaign for it like the old one. And they apparently plan to have another complex story. inb4 anger at use of the word: EDIT: had to fix quote. removed link to leak just in case. Upon rereading it there seems to be a minor, but not really new nudge at what the plot will be.
  11. Well at least we can kinda see a hand behind the shield, so he has 2 unlike Furno XL who looked more like he had his shield built into his wrist with that more classic BIONICLE hand-style piece.
  12. I wanted to point it out earlier but I think I failed to. This mainly makes me believe Lords of Skull Spiders are a class in the spider species- some sort of overseers maybe. Also: some species of spider do swim. Someone's gotta MoC the Lord of Water Spiders. Also something about LOSS' box artwork: you can see spiderwebs all over the strange caverns he is in. One of them, in the center towards the top, has a small, non-humanoid bulge on it. Before the LOSS and in the center of his web is his golden mask. It is plausible that there are multiple masks if there are multiple Lords of Skull Spiders. Edit: error in describing web location And there is another one down, and to the left of that one. It looks kind of like the web could just be denser there, but the top one isnt very flat and has a curve like the mask. The two major opponents of this multiple mask theory are of course: the really good one that the LOSS' mask is actually a form of the MoCr ala Inika; they are just spiders conveniently dead center in the webs like the mask is.
  13. First ever sets were one of the McToran, but then I got Tahu and Kopaka at the same time I think. I was totally amazed by the fluorescent eyestalks, and simultaneously furious that they might as well be permanently attached the moment you put them in a skull (hopefully won't be an issue this time). The final set I got from a retailer was the Stars Rahkshi to finish off BIONICLE's final wave. A bit after BIONICLE ended I made it my goal to fulfill my childhood dream of obtaining all 6 original Rahkshi, which were my all-time favorite villains. In the time they were on the shelves of retailers I was only able to get Guurahk. Guurahk, being a "son of Makuta", was modified several times to keep him the main villain of my stories. Through several snipes and deals I managed to collect all 6(+1) rahkshi and restore Guurahk to his original form. The only two complete waves of BIONICLE I have are proudly shelved.
  14. I for one welcome our new Japanese BIONICLE theme, and our potential Keetongu remake overlords
  15. Sorry I keep forgetting he is Karzhanni's brother. Im still surprised there are no exceptions to the protodermis rule at all, even with super unique objects. This would definitely make it Bionicle's plot convenience wand. I think the prescence of a goldish color in every Toa set has to mean something. Could they be making them out of some new element?
  16. Was it ever specifically said the that MOCr (I really love how that sounds like MoC'er in my mind) is also made of Protodermis? It might not even be craftable like the Mask of Time, as we know that no lesser form of the mask is possible as no disc combination is even possible. As a mask worn exclusively by a Great Being it may indeed have its own (insert applied phlebotinum here). I hold this belief about BIONICLE too. To me its also just part of the Biomechanical motif, where magic can be organic and Sc-Fi is more mechanics.
  17. Behold! Generack, Daedric Prince of Gimmicks! That is actually very well put together though.
  18. You can also do this by waving the "advanced technology" wand baton as well, which is something I pointed out in my first post on this site when we first reacted to the use of magic as an explanation. Using advanced tech as an explanation usually forces an author to go deeper in-depth with why some plot element works, which can get the main plot sidetracked while they spend a few pages telling you why this makes sense. Magic and other supernatural plot elements have the characteristic of being mysterious or organic. I still hope that they can use fantasy and science fiction at the same time. If it is done right (Eberron) it can turn out really great. I have always figured that BIONICLE was a bit of magic and technology to begin with, and it is one of the things I always liked about it.
  19. I don't know the name of it, but the kind of blasters that were on the Exo-Toa. I didn't have an Exo-Toa, but I believe I got mine with a green projectile from one of the infamous Metru play sets. It had a lot of connection possibilities for axles and parts with axle components. It also fires reliably, projectiles have good distance, and the projectile itself is large enough that its arguably harder to lose than a zamor or a rohtuka. I just recently used it to make a heavy crossbow for my sorta self-moc as I waited for my first CCBS sets to arrive. Contrasting with what is apparently popular opinion, I did not like Zamors much. It was difficult for me when I was younger to fire them. When I did manage to fire them, they were really chaotic and could ricochet or roll anywhere in my room and get lost. The Inika team's clip addons where pretty cool, but they had no way to resist gravity and they often just spilled out everywhere. Also I share this opinion on the Squid Launcher. The launcher itself was one of 2 crossbows we ever had, the other being Kongu's. I'd like to see more in constraction, but unless we get a Wookie Ultrabuild I doubt itll happen.
  20. DC-style alternate reality for me. It would keep the old BIONICLE canon, but not essential for new fans to know when they start investing in this new plot. It would also allow for the fresh start "hard reboot" fans want.
  21. For another TTV quote-inspired idea: Alpha Kopaka getting too buff to compensate for Tahu being better. This one looks great though! I really like the styles you used for Lewa and now Tahu. Cartoony organic has an interesting synergy with these set designs.
  22. I definitely wouldnt give him a major plot role, it would just be like he pops in and leaves immediately. This reality might not even have its own Vezon, or Staff, or Makuta Teridax. I definitely wouldn't replace big characters like Jaller or Takanuva. Actually, its just as likely dimension-hopping Takanuva could be a special edition set. The concept of either of them doing it is from the idea that they are the original universe's forms of the characters that have a plausible explanation for a cameo appearance in a reboot.
  23. I'm really attached to the idea of a special edition Vezon now. The more and more I keep imagining it after my earlier post, it would probably be the best reference to old Bionicle ever in the case of a DC style reboot where this plot is an alternate reality. Bonus points for: LOSS + Vezon combiner. Have a new piraka-style mask with 2 sides to represent the Olmak fused to his face. It can be flipped to be an olmak or his manic piraka grin.
  24. No, I see that extra one, and 2 attachment points behind it. You can see on pohatu theres a space between his box and his arm that doesnt have a point (behind his extra from the skeleton). It looks like the nut that closes the original Mata team's main gear axle. Gali seems to have a point where that is that supports her shoulders. It looks like the ball piece that an axle can go through that always reminded me of the original mata's heart thing on their chests.
  25. Thanks for pointing out that typo in the first line ;). I think I also just noticed Gahli's eye color is behind her mask, a darker skull color is visible through her mask. Idk if its normal for CCBS or not but her skeleton has 2 ball joint things on the left side where something is supporting the shoulder armor above her arms. Lewa's image shows many skull spiders crawling around the jungle, but one of them has 6 legs. Its definitely possible that lords of skull spiders are a class of the "species" where they are overseers. So the LOSS is probably not a big bad.
