Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
pugmom replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
My pipe dream would be a corner store, but with modern styling with big floor to ceiling windows to see more of a detailed interior. Thinking like the little free with purchase lego store they are doing at the grand openings this year, but on a modular scale. I enjoy the interiors from a building perspective, but it seems like such a waste when I am almost always just looking at the lovely outsides. Or a corner bank with great architectural details. -
Great job on the roof modification! Looks like it was meant to be there! Thanks for providing the file. Makes me want to actually learn to use ldd lol.

wow. I didn't think I would care for the masonry bricks, but it looks great!

I didn't hate BLing CC and GG, but I didn't love it either - those skis were a pain to get! But, I am trilled with the finished products!

So - who will admit to using the Kragle?
pugmom replied to backbencher's topic in General LEGO Discussion
once. One of the decorative clamshells on the roof of the PR would not stay closed for anything! -
well, I did bank a bunch and bought Parisian rest. for $20. However, it was a double points day, so I think I should have not used them since I only got double points on $20 instead of the entire set. Now I just use them as I get them on whatever.

I set bricklink to notify my immediately when any were posted in my price level and acted quickly! I paid about $1.10 per brick back in september. still a lot.

I buy them for myself, but allow my boys (9 and 5) to play with/build them with me (gasp!). Having said that, my kids have enjoyed the modulars without all of the play-ability and storyline built in. To me green grocer and pet shop were nice because there were some fully finished floors, but lots of open space for creativity. When my 9 year old "plays" with them, it is more furniture creation, or interesting minifigure placement than following a storyline. We shall see the verdict in this house once we buy it, but my guess is it will not get any more play time after building despite the added "play features", so in my opinion, keep them more simple on the inside!

Thank you! I am unreasonably excited about it.

Sorry if this has already been covered, but when is 60073 (truck/porta potty) supposed to be available in the US? I see it on the UK S@H, but not on the US site, not even coming soon. When I went to the store yesterday, they had no idea....Thanks!

[REVIEW] The LEGO Movie | 70818 Double-Decker Couch
pugmom replied to LEGO Ink's topic in Special LEGO Themes
nice review! We love this set and think it is a great value with all of those minifigs! The couch is a little delicate for younger kiddo play in this house, but that is my only complaint.- 11 replies

2015 The LEGO Movie rumors and discussion
pugmom replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Just built the double decker couch. I have to agree with others - wonderful value for the money with all of those figures and extras! My couch is a little wobbly with the design, but totally forgivable. -
we do the Hanukkah thing.... Family (read - me) Parisian Restaurant 10243 9 year old son - Creator house - 31012 Harry Potter quidditch match - 4737 (yeah, I had that put away for a while....) 5 year old son - Lego Juniors turtle lair 10669 Minecraft first night 21115 Minecraft the farm 21114

I agree on the size. I will probably add an extra level, but darn it, I shouldn't have to! edit for grammar fail....

oh I know. It was just wishful thinking that they could have incorporated more "feminine (?)" themes in a gender neutral way.

I, as a 30 something woman who played with a ton a space and castle lego as a young girl have a hard time trying to put into words how I feel about the friends line. I don't mind that it is there, if it draws more girls to lego that might not have played with it anyway, then great! I guess my gripe that it is marked so girly that the typical boy (thinking my 5 and 9 year old sons) would not go anywhere near it. I would love it if they did, and would support, but they won't. I guess I don't like that so many themes are now squarely in the girly domain, I wish they were a little more neutral so everyone could enjoy them. Let me use for example the heartlake vet set. My 9 year old loves animals, he would have loved a vet set a year ago. Looking at the set, I think a couple of minor changes and it could be very neutral. But seeing that purple box with the 5 girls lined up across the top pretty much says "nope, not for boys". Same with heartlake high. I know, I probably am coming across as a whiner because there are so many "boy" sets, but I guess I am not sure why the city sets have to pretty much be police and construction workers, and other city like themes are only available in the friends version (vet/school etc). I guess I would have like to have seen more "in the middle" stuff like the bike shop and cafe and the upcoming toy and grocery shop, but obviously they did their research and it is working for them!

I hear ya. Some sets are more fragile than others. I remember when my now 9 year old saved up for the garage set when he was about 6ish? That thing didn't stay together worth anything! After that, I was much more careful to read the reviews to see which ones were a little more sturdy in build. For my current 5 year old, the juniors sets seem to hold up pretty well, anything with little cars is pretty good. I can recommend http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Juniors-Turtle-10669-Building/dp/B00J4S42YO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1419222181&sr=8-5&keywords=lego+juniors because he just put it together on his own last night by himself and played with it most of the day. The issue is of course that the younger ones want the bigger kid stuff, I swear I have had to rebuild the melting room for my 5 year old about 12 times..... Another thing I tend to do is reinforce some sets for play. For example my 5 year old just received a couple of the new minecraft sets for hanukkah. As he was putting them together, I noticed as he pushed hard, he was having some issues the way the small baseplates are positioned on top of bricks. (hard to explain, but trust me, yikes). I slapped some more flat bricks under the small baseplates and we seem to be doing better. Anyway....fear not. The same 9 year old that was super frustrated at 6 really loves building and playing with modulars with me. Something breaks, we calmly fix. All part of it!

OK, even though I own everything with the exception of MS (no plans to get it) I have only built some. Ones I have not built will have (xx) around them based on my feel. GG - love the facade. I find this modular to be a great mix of interior and exterior features. I like that the upper floors are sparsely furnished to allow for some imagination PR - love it! so much fun to build inside and out. I think the finished product is stunning and I especially love all of the roof detail. CC - I din't think I would like this with no interior, but I really enjoyed the build, and the colors used. My son had fun working his own interior. PS - although not particularly stunning on the outside, I like the sand blue and the flexibility of having 2 smaller modulars to move around in the city. (FB) - like the styling and feel like it fits well in size with the rest (GE) - looks OK, no opinion formed yet. PC - this was my son's purchase, I am not in love with the exterior, just not my style. (TH) - almost didn't buy, but I am a completist....Something just looks off with the scale to me, I would do the wider version, but I just don't have room. edited 12/25 - built PR

we have this one, although not perfect, it helps. Maybe you could model something like that? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B004UJFUP2/wwwbox4bloxco-20/ref=sr_1_107?ie=UTF8&qid=1412225552&sr=8-107&keywords=lego+storage

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
pugmom replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I tackled my bricklinking by finding the more rare parts for a reasonable price then going from there. ie. if I found my sand green grooved bricks, then I would order as many parts as I could from that seller (that were within reason). Once I made a few orders to get the bulk of the parts out, then I would think about using the bricklink inventory files, programs to find minimal cost etc. I am sure there are many ways to attack it, but that is how I did it (granted I had about 1000 bricks to start with from my stash....) -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

woah, that looks like a lot of interior detail. I am torn on that. I love the "idea" of neat interiors and love putting them together, but really, 95% of the time, I am admiring the outside once built so it is hard to justify all of that in my world. edit - adding quote of backside pic since it was at the bottom of the last page...thanks for the pic!
