  1. Updated with stuff that's sold and new Technic sets that I've gotten inventoried. Also left feedbacks for the trades I've done so far.
  2. Have to say +1 to Masked Builder, typo, and Crazedwookie for some nice deals this week.
  3. Fantastic - definitely putting one in my town!
  4. My version, a bit larger: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=59178
  5. Love it. Bookmarked cause my town needs one :)
  6. I believe I did get 1x2x2 panels (not at home to check them right now). However, 1x2x3 DO exist: Bricklink listing in both Dino HQ and Portal of Atlantis.
  7. You can't use PMs yet and have your email private - so if you're interested, please email me at tim (at) mostlytechnic dot com to discuss the trade. Oh, and please turn caps-lock off :)
  8. Woolie didn't photoshop it, at least didn't say he did. In fact, he explains how he took his Maersk outside and used a flashlight to get the lighting for the shot. That looks legit to me.
  9. The count from the final freebie holiday box the other day: 15 6x8 green plates 77 1x1x5 white bricks 33 trans-clear 2x3 panels 162 flower stems 4 bamboo leaves that were mixed into the flower stem bin IMAG0260 by mostlytechnic, on Flickr Then I also filled a large cup - no photos, but got about 40 1x16 white bricks, a bunch of red slope 45 2x4, a big bunch of white 1x2x1 panels, and some more flower stems to fill it up.
  10. A quick googling finds an article in the journal "Health Physics" where they determined that "It is concluded that all surface-emitting LEDs and IREDs will be judged safe by applying the ICNIRP ELs for incoherent radiation as well as by the recommendations of CIE TC 6-38 (Lamp Safety) for realistic viewing conditions. This conclusion applies to any LED device which does not have optical gain. Only because of the extraordinary worst-case assumptions built into some current product safety standards could one reach the conclusion that an LED or IRED poses a retinal hazard." (http://www.icnirp.de/documents/Led.pdf) Basically, there ARE regulations in Europe that determine what warnings must be on lights. I have no doubt that Lego is in full compliance; therefore, the LEDs they use are not hazardous. They are using standard cheap LEDs, not some high-powered ones that need warnings.
  11. Fill my last freebie holiday box last night. Got a bunch of 1x1x5 brick in white, 1x2x2 panel in clear, 6x8 plate in green, and flower stems in green. I had kiddos with me, so I couldn't be terribly picky in packing (and I didn't want to stack the 6x8 plates tightly anyway), so I could have squeezed more in, but it was definitely a solid box. Hopefully have time to count it out tonight...
  12. At my local Lego store last night, the mini modulars are out on the shelf, just have a little sign that you have to be a VIP to buy (but of course you can sign up for VIP on the spot, so not exactly a limiting restriction)
  13. Email sent. List updated
  14. There's a special monorail motor that has a permanent gear attached to it. I don't know if any other gear will mesh with the track or not. On Bricklink - there's actually a couple versions with different couplings to the rest of the train.
  15. PMs sent; want list updated. More haves coming...

  17. If you do, can you tell us their price? Interested in several myself...
  18. I want all three of those!
  19. My spending was around $10k, but I sell figs and parts on Bricklink, so I just about broke even for the year. Means I have a HUGE pile of parts that I kept though :)
  20. Exactly. If you're building purely for fun and just want to get your money back by selling, well, you've still gotta account for fees, boxes, tape, etc in your selling price or you'll lose money. If you want to actually MAKE money doing it, yes, you have to factor a solid profit into your prices, which does indeed need to account for how much time it took you. If you sell a MOC for $100 shipped on ebay, you're looking at around $12.30 in ebay/paypal fees. Plus your cost of shipping ($10-15). Plus cost of parts (let's say $50 for argument's sake). Plus $2 for a box. So now you're at $35 "profit" - not bad, right? Well, if you spent a hour on ebay stuff (photographing, listing, dealing with questions, packing, shipping), 2 hours designing and building, you're only at around $10/hr pay. That's not that great. And those time estimates are low. I buy clearance toys and sell them online. My rule of thumb is I have to buy it for less than half of the current selling price or it's not worth it. And I've been doing it long enough and in enough volume to have automated stuff set up, deal with stuff in bulk, buy boxes in bulk so they're cheaper, etc.
  21. I picked up several Space Police Undercover Cruiser sets on clearance. When I opened them, I found several of the stickersheets are misprinted. It's supposed to be this: but several of mine missed the green ink step, so there's nothing around the box and globe logo. I also have a tan barrel (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30139) from Indiana Jones that is missing part of the top rim. Looks like not enough plastic got injected into the mold. It's kinda cool though, I'm debating blackening the edge to make it look burnt.
  22. Well, what you need to say is: cost of shipping to you (to get pieces to make the MOC) +cost of pieces +cost of shipping to buyer (don't forget cost of boxes, packing materials, plastic baggies, tape, shipping labels, etc) +fees (ebay/paypal) That would be the price to break even. (and you've spent a lot of time listing things, photographing, packing, shipping, etc on top of the building time, and you haven't gotten a penny for any of that yet) Anything you charge over that is profit for you. Also, keep in mind that your time selling things will add up quickly - probably take MORE time than building if you're not careful about it. I say that as someone who runs an online store. Selling on ebay is a massive time suck. Oh, and don't forget that EVERYTHING about ebay and paypal favors the customer. Be ready to spend significant time dealing with idiot buyers, no matter how clear you are in your listings. If they whine to ebay, ebay WILL rule in their favor, no matter how stupid they are. You'll run into more problems selling small, cheaper items (since they'll be bought by non-AFOLs) and less problems selling massive MOCs (since the AFOLs interested in something like that understand Lego and MOCs much better) So, not trying to turn you off, just saying you really need to understand what you're getting into. You might make a few bucks selling some, but see it all wiped out when a customer claims they never got what you shipped them, even though you've got Fedex tracking showing it was delivered to their door, if there's no signature, ebay/paypal WILL give the customer their money back and you're out the model AND the money. I've had it happen.
  23. Both welding rigs are fantastic tiny mocs. One glance and you know exactly what they are. Nice :)
  24. Revised my method. If you pull out the wire clip (where the wire comes into the case, under the motor), you can then pull the wire that doesn't have the thermistor completely out of the clip, slide the thermistor wire over, and put the bare wire back thru the clip. Basically cross them right in the clip. Then just reattach them to the motor on the swapped sides. No lengthening or anything needed.
  25. The rose is fantastic - I'd have known it wat the B&tB rose even w/o the title, thanks to the fallen petals. The base is, well, a base. Fine by me to have it simple and just there.
