  1. Seriously, you all are a bunch of lushes and I'm embarrassed by your behavior. Particularly, the honorable Mr. Lloyd Spalding - you may not have been reprimanded officially for that editing of your comments here during the roll call, but I can assure you that our esteemed Speaker Mr. London will not always be so forgiving. Such behavior may indeed lead to your expulsion from this august forum.
  2. Present! And you young whippersnappers, pay attention! We have serious work to do here. Enough with your twitts and likes and stuff. Legislating is solemn and best done on paper.
  3. 1. What is your mafia experience here on EB? How about other sites? Bunch here (see sig if you don't remember) and nowhere else. So I'm used to the EB flavor of mafia. 2. What do you think of your performance in EB Mafia so far? What are your strengths and weakness? What do you want to improve? Decent. Tend to trust a little too much and that's gotten me screwed before. 3. If you just graduated from Mafia School - have you read any other mafia games on EB? If so, what have you learned from them? n/a 4. Will you be able to post every game day? More importantly, will you be able to truly participate in the game (as opposed to showing up to post once and clocking out)? If not, reconsider your application. I think my past speaks for itself. Not a problem. 5. Finally, the fun question. What is your favorite LEGO theme? Technic, duh. Though that's just building what Lego designed and sold. My brain doesn't like coming up with my own technic creations. So I also do train and have a good-sized layout in the basement that I'd like to get back to someday....
  4. Really like the creative part usage, like the hinge brick tops for steps on E2 and 57XX and others.
  5. Looked to me like the checkin clipboard had 20ish names on it. Probably 10 or so people (plus guest for some of them) in store 9-9:30 while I was there. However, that's partially due to icy conditions here today. I drove carefully and had no trouble, but on the way (about 20 min drive each way) I saw probably a dozen cars in ditches or wrecked! And no, not really any socializing here either. Staff was their usual very helpful friendly selves though!
  6. Got back from Columbus - same as the cincy report. Turkey, 2 sheets of wrapping paper, lanyard ID thing (printed with my name, a plain one for guest), ornament in a bag (http://brickset.com/sets/5002813-1/Christmas-Train-Ornament) and comes in a little satiny red bag. Both myself and guest got the goody bag. Kids love the goodies. I personally prefered the PAB boxes they used to do, but this is still better than some years' givewaways. Oh, and the store had Tumbers in stock!!! Limit one, but they had them. Bought that (already have one, this one's going on the shelf to age for a few years and sell it then), Pet Shop, few smaller things. And I did notice when getting signed in, I was #1 on the list :)
  7. Anyone else going to the Columbus OH (Easton) event?
  8. ah yes, forgot the free PaB box. at mine they've always just given us one of the holiday freebie PaB boxes to fill free that day.
  9. Yes, in the US, this is a pre-Black Friday sale. It's whatever offers there will be on BF, just without the insane crowds. So you get the free second holiday set w/ purchase (or sometimes even w/o purchase), a discount surprise at checkout (a scratchoff type card that gives 5-50% off randomly), etc. Plus sometimes a goody bag with freebies (I've gotten posters, Chima swords, etc). My store (and I suspect any of them) will have a mix of parents w/ kids buying presents and AFOLs getting seriously stocked up. At my store they've often had the VIPs just each make a pile on the floor somewhere while they shop since people are buying way too much to carry around (seen people getting 5 modulars, 5 of train sets, multiple big technic sets etc. Basically all the big stuff that's never on sale). oh yeah, the fine print on the US card says limit of $5000 before discounts, limit 5 per set, and personal use only
  10. got mine today - unlike the one pictured above, there's no mention of first look at new sets. Just a shopping event. I've gotten invites to all but one of these - the first year they did it the invites were numbered and I had invite #1 for my store. I did spend a TON that year. Looking forward to it this year. Have spent quite a bit there - Tumbler, ewok village, modulars, simpsons, etc.
  11. I think the n/a was because you're not needing to pass a school, so there's no grade given. Ditto for me.
  12. Ah, sounds like you made the right calls to me. Be VERY VERY wary of PM discussions and trusting people. The scum use PMs to their great advantage, even making up entire fake PM chains to use after scum die to "prove" the remaining scum are town, etc. Based on the day posts, I would not have trusted Xen one bit in PM (heck, half the deadboard had Xen as the last scum). From what I've seen the only times there's real problems in mafia are when players take anything personally. It's all a game, and a game wrapped in roleplaying at that. But yeah, it's super easy to panic when the noose is headed for your neck. I've been there! And like Speedy said to Chicken, making it to the end is not the goal. It's great, but it would've been better for you to be lynched day 1 than jamesn since he's had a night role. I was killed on night 1 but this game was still a win for me since the town won. Team play is way more important than how many days you can survive. So much so that the only thing better (from the town's perspective) than a vanilla town getting lynched is a scum getting lynched. It's better for a vanilla to get lynched than to have no lynch! The voting patterns become critical later in the game. It's how I picked out stick as the final scum.
  13. Thanks again for hosting. Too bad I was gone night one, but I guess that's a compliment in a way. Actually, turned out sorta good I was out because life got much busier than I expected during the game, so it was convenient to participate on the deadboard but not have the pressure of paying attention quite as hard as if I was still in. You know, with as popular as all the "vote someone off" reality shows are, I'm surprised no one has made a reality tv of a mafia game. Probably too complicated for the average reality show watcher I guess
  14. Not at all, post away! If your posts are close enough together in time, the system will merge them into one post (without it being marked as edited, so you don't get penalties for that, don't worry!) and if it's been longer it just shows as two posts. And that's fine. More important to say what you need to say!
  15. Well, I played this game mostly on the deadboard. Still awesome fun though, watching everyone flail around while we knew (a little bit) more than you, since we had the dead scum commenting and occasionally def would drop us a bit of info. My scum-dar was really off for most of the days, but I am glad that my last day prediction (goliath was town, stickfig was scum) was correct. FYI, stick, I called you as scum based on your early voting. I posted on the deadboard, after jluck was shown to be scum: jluck, totally shocked when you turned up town. Good scum play! And we all were massively shocked at some of the cluelessness going on. Granted, I was equally clueless in my first game, but hey, part of the fun of being a veteran is making fun of the new guys, right? Like how EVEN AFTER the homework assignment to check what the proper scum/town ratio was, many of you KEPT thinking there were only 4 scum. And things like this helped the scum hide. Like stickfig claiming on day 6 at the very beginning not to know if chicken was town or scum. Like scum reinforcing the wrong number of scum. Oh, and massive props to Captain for some awesome vig work. I made the argument on the deadboard that I was a 100% accurate vig on Red Menace, for the first night :) After that I sucked and killed town after town. Your reads here were way better than mine. Although you were almost TOO quiet during the game - if I'd been around I would have been pushing for a lynch on you at times. Curious: how much did the town roles get together and communicate? Kintober obviously got a couple town reads, but dunno how much happened behind the scenes with that. Speaking of - Kintober, why'd you claim publicly when you did? Seems like it got you killed without accomplishing much.
  16. I've still got pyro marked as not voting, is that correct? Better fix that quick or there will be penalty votes tomorrow...
  17. How long does it take you to type man? Your post was 16 minutes after Scaevolas!
  18. And I too agree, Lind, you're screwing the town with that vote. I too would rather vote for Captain than Lord or jamesn, but I changed mine because we NEED the lynch. Yes, mathematically and using purely logical reasoning, it'd be better for the town to not lynch on day 1 (and there's websites out there I've looked at before doing some analysis of that, in way more depth than a mafia game deserves). HOWEVER, the lynch, learning of someone's allegiance, and then analyzing everyone's votes is pretty much all we have to go on for day 2. And that is CRITICAL information, absolutely worth sacrificing a townie for. Well, when 1 person says the truth, what's wrong with a second (and third) saying it too? In this case, one obviously wasn't enough since you havent' changed your mind. Frankly, your vote is a big enough error that it makes me wonder if you, Lord, and jamesn are all scum together since you're so reluctant to vote for one of them.
  19. There's no reason to keep a vote on Captain anymore other than to prevent a lynch, and that would be a mistake. So (although I still think he's the scummiest person here at the moment, based on his bandwagon voting): Unvote: Captain Settle (Captain Settle) Now, as to who to vote for. Out of the only two to pick from at this point, I think Lord Duvors is slightly more probable town. I think he's just gotten beaten up with not a great reason - fluffy, frequent day 1 posting is usually a townie. The scum are usually quiet. Jamesn, on the other hand.... while I think he's LIKELY town as well (heck, just play the odds and he's more likely town than scum), I also think he's certainly experienced enough to look helpful and townie while actually being scummy to the core. And since SOMEONE needs to go, so we have info to go off of tomorrow, Vote: jamesn (jamesn) by my count, that makes it 9 votes jamesn, 7 for Duvors, and 1 on Captain (and Lind and Pyro haven't put a vote down currently)
  20. The debate may have been in the past, but it's still being used to justify lynching.
  21. Not just who the lynched voted for, but also very important to see who voted for the dead townie! Really, a miller is complex? It's a townie who appears scum if investigated. Seems pretty simple to me. Compare to some of the other explicitly normal roles that were in that same link as possible roles for this game - masons, hiders, neighbors, etc. Godfathers are the scum equivalent of a miller and they're pretty common around here. So I just don't get why people thought a miller claim was so strange. Not to mention, I don't know if there was any non-random seeding of roles, but it DID go to an experienced player who knew how to properly handle that role (ie, claim immediately. And obviously I'm assuming for the sake of argument here that he's telling the truth). Seriously, you didn't see any reason there? He blatantly said he was against the people who were unwilling to consider that a miller could occur. As in they DIDN'T READ THE INFO WE WERE GIVEN UP FRONT. I didn't see jamesn's answer there as "defensive w/o reason" at all - he was defensive WITH reason. (and that's why I'm defending here - not because I am trying to save jamesn, I don't think there's a high chance of him getting lynched today anyway, but because I need the TOWN to be using GOOD logic when voting and thinking!) (and for the record, pirate changed his vote while I was writing and so when I said I didn't expect a jamesn lynch, the votes were leaning Lord Duvors at that time. Pirate's switch flipped the lean of the votes)
  22. Dang, I never knew that! Sweet! And for several games now I've been going to the work of keeping tally of post counts... don't have to do THAT anymore! (it was EASY PEASY during the Red Menace since no one there talked, but a royal pain in the backside here at the Cosplay theater!) More importantly, since we're getting closer to the end, my solo vote on Pirate is wasted. I still think he's a bit shady, but he has at least been active since my vote (and my reason for my vote was him being unusually quiet). So, Unvote: Stinky Dave (piratedave84) Vote: Captain Settle (Captain Settle) Why? You might argue that's a waste too, but there's still over 24 hours left. Plenty of time to change the bandwagon (look how fast it shifted off Goliath!). Lord Duvors is fluffy but very active, and that's usually a town-tell. Scum are normally quieter. Captain, on the other hand, has made a whopping 5 posts, the lowest of anyone. First two were fluffy start of day stuff. Then one throwing a vote on Goliath after the bandwagon had started, putting the 6th vote on him. Then he unvoted Goliath (after the wagon has lost its wheels) and voted Lord Duvors (vote #4 against him) with ZERO commentary whatsoever. After several people called him on that, he responded with the explanation that Goliath and Lord were both annoying. I know this is basically the same thing Stickfig said, just a little more detail, but I happen to agree with him on this. I'd much rather see Captain lynched at this point than Lord. He could be taking the "under the radar" scum tactic to the extreme (it's worked well in the past!) or he could be simply very unhelpful and inactive. Either way, he's the least good to town right now, so he should go.
  23. Care to give any REASON for that vote? Just saying someone is "the scummiest" isn't a reason.
  24. That vote count matches my tally, so I think you're right :)
  25. Hm. Here I thought this was a school game and helping the new guys out would be a good thing. Besides, I'm sure the scum have some experience on their side helping them in the scumboard, so why not help the town in public since that's all we've got at this point? I suppose I could coach others in PMs but that'd be suspicious behavior. Glad that the bandwagon on you is over, now that you've come to your senses :) And vanilla is not stupid - MOST people are vanilla and are flat out critical to the town winning. Yes, the cop/doc/vig/whatever are helpful, but they really don't contribute much till late in the game once they've had time to find other trusted people and start sharing info. Don't expect any results from investigations or such until at least day 3. And VERY MUCH thank you for clearing up the doctor misunderstanding. I assume you do see why I (and others) assumed what you said was a doc claim? Seriously? There's gotta be more reason behind a vote than this. Hey, I thought we weren't supposed to teach people in this game? Isn't that what you told me earlier? Ok, now for all the latest voting. Captain, Lind, Lord, Richila, and Goliath - you've all made votes that were unsupported. Even if you're just voting for someone that many others are and for the same reason they've said, you still need to give your reason. That's critical info for the days ahead. We need to look back and see who voted for who and why. Oh, and as for defending others... People need to pay close attention to WHY defending is being done. For example, when I was defending Goliath during the bandwagon, I was careful to always argue against the bandwagon, not defend the person. It had NOTHING to do with Goliath, everything to do with HOW the votes were happening.
