[MOC] Icon Bronco
BigCatBoy replied to BigCatBoy's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, thanks guys! I'm taking a break from lego building right now, but thankfully I still visit the site every now and then. Honk77: Sorry, I don't have build instructions. Also, this Bronco's been dismantled for bigger and better things in the future. I hope to stop the model-style builds and start some technic stuff, with model-team style bodies. I'm working on a car/truck right now, just having some issues figuring out the technic side of it. I hope to finish it before the year ends. -

Ha, I agree. It's too bad that this type of thing will continue, not just with Lego builds. People will always try to steal from others. I've already had issues with people wanting to use some of my automotive artwork without my consent, too. I'm thinking of using a watermark on all my images from now on, though I'll be making sure they're not too intrusive on the images. Oh yeah, I love those old Range Rovers. I only mentioned Defenders because that is what my brother thought I built, and just based off of that, I assumed you were implying the same thing. Speaking of those Range Rovers, I've been testing out some ideas on LDD on how I could build that exact truck you've shown in the first image, with slightly larger tires and some off-road equipment. I definitely see how my bronco build can look very similar especially with that white one in the second picture! -

Just saw it now. You definitely spammed that section! :D Thanks! Thank you very much! I just checked out the facebook page, too. I hope this situation gets taken care of soon. Thanks! The 76 look a lot tougher visually. And, it may be more interesting to build a 76 model due to the different rear fender design compared to the 66 models, allowing for more suspension and stance options. Thanks! You're not the only one who thought range rover, or did you mean Land Rover (Like the Defender)? My brother first thought I had build a D90. I agree with him it looks a lot like a D90. -

A minor update, mentioned in the original post. -
I love that 4x4 model! Your method in building the grille is awesome.

Thanks again everyone! I'm contemplating submitting this to Lego Ideas, but the truck is the incorrect model to represent the movie truck, and it's a little too fragile for kids to play with. I may have to rebuild the entire truck and sacrifice some asthetics in favor of structural strength, though.

Thanks everyone! Glad you guys like it! I loved building this one. I only wish it was more technic style, but maybe that'll come later when I figure out how to build technic trucks. Thanks! I'm glad I got a new camera for this truck. The camera was meant more for my graphics design work, but it was a no brainer to use for my lego creations. Thanks! I've used that avatar since I became a member. It was part of a magazine ad for a Fiat 500 Black Jack edition. I thought it was really funny the first time I saw it. Thanks! I'm glad I had ten of those silver wheels from a tow truck set I got a while back. I found out the wheels are quite rare these days...

That looks great! Great work on the proportions and overall look. I like that it is full technic, allowing easier use of removable parts.

Congratulations to the winners! So many entrants, too! Was definitely interesting. I'm a little surprised I was mid-range in the contest votes. I thought I would have been in the bottom ten! Thanks for those who voted for me!

Update: This truck is become far more popular than I expected! Yahoo and Road & Track has ran articles on the build: Road $ Track: http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/classic-cars/news/a24598/this-lego-toyota-pickup-is-better-than-marty-mcflys/ Yahoo: https://autos.yahoo.com/news/back-future-lego-toyota-4-4-amazing-190026522.html A little too much complaining from anti-LS engine fans in the comments for those articles. I'd like to thank Eurobricks members for being more open-minded! :) In all honesty, I would have rather put in the standard 4-cylinder engine, but I really wanted to make this truck more unique and have some pure fun with it. I acquired a new camera and decided to reshoot pictures before uploading. Here are select photos of my build! It is built in the same style as my previous builds, model style body with limited technic functions underneath. Here it is without accessories. The hardest part of the truck to figure out, the front grille. Also, my new camera picks up the dust really well! I like this shot. I forgot to include the icebox and too chest pieces in the bed... I'm a diesel guy, but I wanted to play around with the idea of a LS1/LT1 conversion for this truck. In the real world, I'd rather get a midsize truck with a diesel engine for biodiesel use. Cozy interior. Powertrain. I don't have a sneak peek image this time, but there is another truck, a much bigger truck in the works. The truck will include two trailers, but I also wish to showcase the trailer for the F100, too. I may do that in the old F100 and Model A thread. I don't know when I'll finish the bigger truck, but the truck itself and the trailer are both complete. I just have to refine some things and fix the build so they can handle their own weight. Yeah, they're so big that weight is an extreme obstacle right now. Here is the Flickr album for this truck: https://www.flickr.c...57649338040370/ And, I also have a MOCPages page: http://www.mocpages....home.php/116365

Thank you everyone. They were quite interesting to build. I wish to make another 32 Ford in the future, but that's not really finalized at the moment. Thanks. I'm not really a Ford guy either, I just like all cars and trucks. It just so happens my first few creations are of Fords. A trailer is done now, and I hope to unveil it sometime soon. Thanks. I like these better than the Bronco, too. The Bronco was quite the learning experience, especially in designing a build in LDD and then bringing it to life, lots of mistakes to fix that I never realized... Concerning the trailer, everything wrong with it has been fixed, I just need to wait for a nice day to take pictures of it. I hope to upload it soon. I may edit the original comment and add the pictures there.

Beautiful! Love the stance, and the details are nice! -
Great build! The proportions are perfect, and I like that it represents the real truck well using technic bits. I'm contemplating whether I should go technic or not. Building in technic form allows for a sturdier setup and playability... I just love the sizing and proportions of everything you did there!

Thanks everyone. I've made some last minute updates, as posted at the beginning, and on the main entry topic.
