Yop i fully agree that from LEGO's perspective if they don't plan to make LOTR full theme a microscale one-off build might make much more sense. I just hope it's not the case. Would really feel weird for me to see 4 new sets after so many years and not buy any of them because i don't care about BH and i am not sold on microscale builds given rest of my collection.
-
Well i own multiple of each and i would be disppointed as well. Hogwarts castle is nice for what it is however it's still an one-off not fitting with rest of the theme released so far and therfore it remains one of the few new HP sets i don't own.
-
Imagine that, Brickheadz and one microscale set after 10 years. :D Hope it doesn't turn out like that...
-
For sure i don't think anybody is disputing that they won't (and should not to) look at what was made 10 years ago.
-
Same here, since i already own several complete fellowships from the original sets i am mostly looking forward to the build. Already cleaned up one shelf to be used for it. Even though the height migh be a potential problem now when i think about it.

As far i remember the discussions back in 2012/2013 the complaints about Mouth of Sauron were mostly about the fact we got character that did not even appear in the theatrical release before main villain like Witch King. So yeah production quality of the minifig is great, would much prefer to own official Witch King instead for sure. If we got both nobody would have said a word about MoS but picking him ahead of WK was just stupid.

I personally still can't wrap my head around that the first thing we get after almost 10 years of waiting are brickheadz. Like come on LEGO are we setting up ourselves for another decade of "the theme didn't sell well enough" right from the start? :D Really really hope that the Rivendell is worth it.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

Are you sure? I saw just one picture on instagram and it looks like Thor holds the same spear as Loki in the frame below which appears to be normal length as far as i can tell. -
Would love to get Glorfindel minifig even though he is not in the movies. But LEGO made him for their game so why not.
-
I can see Gloin and old Bilbo being part of the line up as well. Or they can really do characters from both LOTR and Hobbit trilogies, which would add dwarves, Galadriel and Saruman as potential options.
-
Well I personally don't want to speculate about something we know nothing about besides the name/location. Wild speculations can also lead to disappointment pretty fast (like predictions for a wave we don't even know we are getting). :)
-
Rivendell sounds promising for sure! Hopefully it's confirmed by some of the usual sources soon. EDIT: but if it's reallly Rivendell that most likely means no Sauron, no Faramir/Eowyn or Gondor soldiers. :/
-
Sauron would be great for sure. If it's playset Minas Tirith i hope we get armored Olog Hai bigfig.

Please don't give them ideas. /s

Can't find the full original LDD, the updated one where I removed Grond, all minifigs, accessories and horses has 3752 pieces.
-
Design by RAKRONDEWL had approximately 4 thousands pieces: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/7c014a00-ebcd-4290-bfa4-072c1cce3e6e but that's including Grond.
-
Nobody knows right now but only thing rumored so far is D2C a 2 BH.
-
I am actually with you on this one. Just bigger black tower to put next to Orthanc. I rather get Minas Tirith or Rivendell for sure.
-
Right, meant minifig compatible playset not trully "minifigure" scale build, my bad. Anyway, in case we get 1 microscale and 2 brickheads sets only i would consider it a complete fiasco.
-
Each to their own. I would personally prefer minigure scale Minas Tirith with hopefully significant number of minifigs (around 20 including multiple Gondor soldiers) which even if we didn't get anything else would make Gondor army building somewhat viable. Instead of microfig scale set like Hogwarts castle with only couple exclusive figures.
-
Come on, don't even mention that. :D How they handled LOTR side of the theme last time was bad enough, this would be a sabotage from LEGO.
-
Looks great, lot of details for the size as well. Like the wooden parts of both the wall and the tower. Good job. :)
-
Sure, completely agree with you. And i know that because i bought sealed version of each LOTR set/polybag just this year and it definitely wasn't cheap. :D Just wanted to say that i don't find the current prices of original LOTR/Hobbit sets surprising at all and even less so for the big main set such as this for Hobbit.
-
It was also biggest set of the Hobbit line, Helm's Deep for LOTR (if i exclude the DTC Tower of Orthanc) has appreciated as much during the years.
-
Well doesn't that mean the exact opposite for projects like this? Meaning LOTR/Hobbit will be added to active licenses which are not allowed in Ideas?
