  1. I did some reinforcement as I recall. I pulled the two of the black tube pieces off the handles that release the tail to give more space, and stuck some plates in there to brace it up. I think I also pulled some pieces off the rear panels to make it easier to snap in, and then reattaching after it was locked in place.
  2. You obviously haven't looked at the size of the superstructure manual ;)
  3. Marlin, you're second room looks great. I think if you wanted you could definitely add more greebling to blend it with all the piping above.
  4. Ramses, Is there anyway you could post the LDD file so we can get a parts list?
  5. I'm nearly finished; just working on finish the bridge section. This model is far more impressive in real life than in pictures; they don't come close to doing it justice. From a few feet away you can't even tell it's Lego. It's by no means an easy build, and you definitely have to do some problem solving at one point or another, but it is so worth it.
  6. I tried attaching the balljoints first, and just kept increasing pressure until it finally snapped in. I didn't think it would hold but it did :)
  7. I've discovered my first major hurtle. In trying to get the plating of the engine section to hook up with the ball joints, it doesn't line up correctly. The bottom hull plating isn't low enough that I can fit it in; I would need to push the bottom hull down a fair amount and it would likely come apart. I've got the bottom hull resting on the cheese slopes like instructed, but seems like it might be the issue. Thoughts? As you can see from the position of the 3x2 wedge plate and the ball joint fastener it's resting too high.
  8. I did it by first hooking it up to that sliding technic axel at the front of the ship, and the very end technic pin at the rear, while supporting the middle of the hull with my hand to take the stress off. Those two are the easiest connections to snap and are more forgiving.
  9. I've considered doing the Thrawn room as well. I just finished book 3 and the bottom panels, and have started work on the top panels. I also modified the interior of the lower level on one side to make Vader's meditation room, and the emperor/communication room. I ways actually able to attach the bottom panels with the frame level on its two stands instead of utilizing the tail. Was a bit tricky, but felt much safer. Even with no panels/superstructure, the model is very heavy (for legos).
  10. I don't own this version (yet), but given it's even heavier than the original, I think if you hang it like that you're going to end up with the chassis warping over time.
  11. Just received a Lego catalog in the mail and the MF is conspicuously absent from it. Whether or not the shortage is deliberate they sure screwed the pooch on this release.
  12. Here you go. You can't upload LDD files to eurobricks anymore. Tie Fighter I did end up swapping in the correct widescreen for it :) The LDD is almost 100% accurate. You can actually insert a 2x3 plate brick on the bottom half of the wings and it will squeeze together just barey which makes it solid.
  13. An AT-AT is obviously long over due. However, given the size it would need to be, I don't think they would release a set that big and expensive that soon after the new MF. The Y-wing seems a logical choice.
  14. The nebulon never felt that small to me watching the movies. In my mind, I always thought of it as a huge ship half as big or more as an ISD. Just build it the way you want to :) On another note, the internal frame for the Aggressor is a work of art. I have no idea how you designed this thing. I feel like I'm building it straight out of the Cross Sections book.
  15. It's picking up now. I've been at a snails pace for the past few weeks, but I'm 2/3 of the way through the first book. I figure building the outer frame is probably least fun part so it's all up hill :P
  16. I got some trans blue radar dishes to try out. I'd like to keep my dishes on the original 10030. Hopefully it will look good.
  17. Kind of difficult to believe Lego under estimated the sales so badly that they can't even sell it on October 1st. This all seems like a concerted effort to me. Why would you allow three purchases of an $800 set for the VIP debut? You wouldn't. The good news is that everyone who's willing to fork out the dough will get one eventually.
  18. The Lego market was a totally different animal back then. Lego's popularity is through the roof and only sets that are unpopular ever get discounted in the US anymore. Also your 2010 example is three years after it went on sale. Not exactly relevant.
  19. I'm happy they did. I've already said I think they did a great job. Not sure why you felt the need to make a snarky, gloating comment. But whatever makes you happy.
  20. Looking at the gun turret picture, it looks like it might be pretty similar. They would have had to make some changes to get the depth needed for those interior areas though.
  21. They did an outstanding job with this. The interior is actually a lot better than I thought possible, and the greebling is well thought out. The stickers are regrettable for something this expensive, but at least the dish is printed. Now I have to figure out what to do with the old one :)
  22. Several thousand of my pieces weren't packaged in individual bags, so sorting it all is taking for freaking ever.
  23. The cockpit actually serves to illustrate the biggest issue with scaling. Minifigs are chunky. Comfortably sitting four of them is a challenge in the proper stud-based scale. It looks like MB might just barely have been able to squeeze four into his.
  24. Laying 15,000 pieces out in an organized fashion is proving to be a bit more of a challenge than I had anticipated.
  25. I said they could add a lot of small greebles to boost up the price count. So what? The original point of this, was that a lot of people seem to think this is going to an ultra detailed model with an interior to match it and it's not going to happen for this piece count, as well as other reasons. I'll be happy to be wrong. Also, this isn't a time they need to adopt a model of making less money, hence the trend of upward prices. Lego has never been bigger than it is right now.
