Theres no other set with Saruman and the uruk hai together.

They "can't" include gandalf, they already have a set covering their scene at orthanc. We already got a giant eagle in the black gate set. (presumably more to come in hobbit sets)

I don't think this will be as expensive as people seem to expect. the base proapbly uses a fair amount of pieces, but the top half doesen't seem to use that many.

I never did mention barad dur (saurons eye tower) and the picture from the game is of orthanc.... I would not want treebeard to be in this set, it would jack up the price, and treebeard would work great as a set of its own. I would want Grima to be in this set along with an uniqe worker orc.

Its a mix of looking super fake and seeming really plausible... fake: 1 why would anyone have the HQ version of that image and post it online? 2 does the mesurements not seem abit too big? real: 1 does the top half of the pixelated image not looks very similar to THIS with the holes through the tower and such. 2 if it were to be shows online as a tease they would blur the actual model when it isnt nessecary to blur the surroundings

@fives @djmangunz It's just a drawing Im afraid. My largely pieced together by various images and guesswork. It supposed to be a Mirkwood soldier. http://i45.tinypic.com/2v8quxu.png I can't wait for lego to make real versions of these soldiers. (lets hope they don't come with some horrible flaw)

I think we only 'need' 3 waves, if the 3rd wave is diverse. Galadriel*, Faramir, Eowyn, Gondorian soldier, Witch king & haradrim Will be the only high profile figures missing after the 2. wave. *could be covered in hobbit set.

I think there might be one more set thats as tore exclusve soemwhere("hard to find"), if thats the case there only 1 less set than the first wave, so it's not so bad.

I guess it's somewhat safe to assume the eagle mold lego makes is the same as this one. I'll just leave this picture here for people wanting a somewhat better look.

Made the tree a little smoother, and tried some color variation. As is right now it's 308 pieces (including figs). The leaves/flowers on the ground I added after I saw rpmac91's build.

Some updates, the crown of the tree should obviously improve, and the build on the rest of it certainly isn't optimal. I'm keeping the colors for now, easier to work with. @Mahition: The tree color I used is medium nougat.

Ive been trying to build some relven structures recently and I've notice other people around the forum doing the same. I thought it might be usefull/interesting to have a topic where people could share ideas and pictures. I like building somewhat lego set-like. Lothlorien structure, I find building tree trunks a bit tricky so for now imagine theres more to the tree for now. Rivendell building.

They use 6 monts to make one set, and several sets are being developed at the same time. 2 years before lego released their hobbit sets the movie hadn't even started filming... the 2 years you speak of could be development time for original lego themes, I though the "friends" range was the only theme was was spend that much time on?

I believe the platfor where they have dinner is the same platform where the council of Elrond happens in LOTR. I believe the only dome'd roof in rivendell is the white council place.

That still looks like the same page to me, besides there might be another lotr page showing the "old" sets if its a retailer catalogue.

I'm doing a little experimenting with some Rivendell structure. 305 pieces without any of the patform in the back.

WHats wrong with it? are you tlaking about the prelim set image or the image from the game?

I never much cared for Legolas and Tautiels shared legs, its a mix of their styles, wich makes it look like it doesent work for any of them.
