  1. I don't get the problem. That's a 1975 set. http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?S=615-2
  2. There are more 10179 than Mr.Gold. 5000 is a very small amount compared to the 400M minifigures produced in 2013. Luckily enough not all minifigures manifactured in 2013 will be S10 minifigures (if that was the case, 1/80.000 would result in actually 0 odds to find Mr. Gold), but yet odds will be no better than 1/12000 / 1/15000. Take also this: there are people who collect ALL minifigures, not only collectible ones. I read about a lot of people trying to get every minifigure manifactured by Lego on a certain year. Mr. Gold will be a must-have for those people. In the end: Time will speak for us, I believe Mr.Gold will end up way MORE than the numbers you speak about.
  3. No, that's true, sold for €60 which are $80. Btw, if one spends $80 for a piece that has a significatively larger spreading than Mr.Gold, why would Mr.Gold price be similar?
  4. Sorry it was the 10179, not the 7965... that's its market price. So this doesn't change the fact that if people are spending $80 for a piece who can be surely found in MORE than 5000 in the world, and has been bought SURELY by afols only, why they should spend just $120 for a rare piece which will have zero availability if compared?
  5. It will just depend on the demand/offer ratio. As I already pointed, there won't be 5000 Mr.Gold, but far less. 2/3 hundreds will end in afol hands, but how many of them will be re-selled? FIY I sold in my bricklink shop the 7965 (so not even the UCS you're talking about) 's dish/antenna for $80. So in your mind Mr.Gold will cost just 1 and a half of the 7965's antenna in the end? I really have strong doubts on that. I believe you're absolutely wrong on your esteems.
  6. Actually, allow me to correct you. Prices of everything are higher when that's a new. Then drop down. Then go up again overtaking by far the original prices. What you say is whay they said for a lot of things, say like MTG rare cards which have now skyrocketed prices... or many other stuff. What you say is like saying that people wasted their money when buying Cafe Corners or Greengrocers... well they may had not their point at that time but they have now. I would peacefully advice you to always wait a considerable long time before calling up someone an idiot judging him/her only on the money he/she spent.
  7. Sorry but why do you call "IDIOTS" those people? Not even this is not respectful, but also how much would do you think one would spend on such a minifigure if they really want it? Considering a normal minifigures has up to 1/30 odds to pop out and will cost you up to 5$, one that has 400 less times the odds (1/12000) to pop out should cost 400$ more, so about 2000$. 1000$ is a good price, considering the odds. You know we are not all afols. Afols are less than 5% of the Lego population. This means more than 4750 Mr.Gold will go to the average kids who will play and break Mr.Gold... who will lose his hat in zero time, who will have it thrown away by an angered mother if they do not complete their homework right... and so on. You will have about a couple of hundreds Mr.Gold available to afols, they deserve such prices.
  8. I do not agree. Terracotta is tan/dark tan. Every cm is yellow. It would just need to change the tone.
  9. Please, please, please use the Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability topic to discuss about where you can find the minifigures. You're flooding this topic where there is one just for that one.
  10. Sorry, but are you serious? I mean, Minifigures are sold only in TRUs and Walmarts? In my country you can find minifigures at newsagents, kiosks, supermarkets, highway stops, small toy shops, great toy centers... I would count more boxes in my city than in your whole state. Sorry, but since I know that TLG is not endorsing too much Italy because we have not enough Lego fans (we don't even have a Lego Store on the whole National ground...) I can't believe my single city hosting more boxes than your whole state. I say: I'm not calling you a liar or telling you you did your math wrong... just that's too strange. Say a friend of mine, a newsagent, ordered 20 boxes for series 7... and he's just a newsagent. Plus: how can you possibly work with people wanting a whole box? Here, I know a LOT of people ordering 2-3 boxes for THEMSELVES as soon as a series is out. If only 4 hundred boxes where available, how could this have possibly worked? From my calculations, I assume we will host 400 boxes in Rome only. So, if TLG does the proportion and delivers 400 boxes to a 3 million inhabitants city, 1 person out of 125 will have a random minifig. If I live in the average country, I would say about 40 to 50 million minifigures will be around, making odds of having a Mr.Gold up to 1 out of 10k EDIT: I found out on wikipedia that prior to minifigures series, TLG already produced about 150/200 million minifigures per year. It's very likely that now they go 200M minifigures per year from normal sets and 200M minifigures per years from three series of collectible. So that's very in line with my calculations. I affirm again that the odds of finding a Mr.Gold are about 1 to 10.000 / 12.500, IMHO
  11. Well, I know you talked for example, but if it was 1 in every 3000 it would have been very EASY to find Mr. Gold. I think odds will be 1 every 10.000 to 1 every 15.000 if not lower.
  12. This. There's a topic just for that, I don't want to sound whiny, but it's a bit annoying browsing messages and messages of "Series 10 surfaced in XXX".
  13. Maybe it was bought by someone who thought it was the real Mr.Gold. You can never know.
  14. This looks crappy, but I have no doubts that quite-perfect copies (this looks PEARL gold, not CHROME gold) of Mr. Gold will surface anytime... you MUST pay attention. I would kindly ask any eurobricker/bricksetter to share as soon as possible informations on the legit bag. How is this supposed code like? Is it a paper inside the bag? I would really welcome any help on this topic, as I really hate fakers.
  15. I strongly believe a lot of people will do "homemade" mr. Gold in order to sell them on e-bay. I advice every single person to expect the seller to ship the unique Mr.Gold code that should be provided inside the bags. Do NOT buy if seller avoids questions on topic, or if that's not specified in the ebay auction or bricklink offer.
  16. So amazon say it's a "policeman" and I guess we have our "British Bobby" after all.
  17. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierrot While I can live with the fact that not everybody in the world knows that he's a popular italian figure, I really find it HIGHLY offensive that though I've told here otherwise there are people who still argue that this is an opinion. Not if I believe that 1+1=3 it becomes an opinion. Opinions are crushed by facts. I think that I created this topic for fun, but I was largely hurt by the behaviour of many users who really acted rudely and unrespectfully towards me. For those who do not recognize this I always say "Remember, when you hit someone, he's just HIM knowing wheter it hurt or not." Not always when you try to do something fun and different people welcome you. I started replying irritated just because many people replied nonsense things (real nonsense, not opinions) or in a totally unmannered fashion, with a strong negative attitude. Luckily enough, I have the whole argument supporting what I'm saying, just looking at the first reply I got is a good index of how my post was welcomed. I agree on locking over this topic, but for completely different reasons from yours.
  18. Actually, that's not me who started to be annoying, at least you can reckon this. I hate to say that, but you completely missed the point here. Europeans know more than a language, because many european know their language + English. In fact I stated that also asian know more than a language, usually. Take Japanese. 95% Japanese know english. And they live in islands without borders... Sorry, but your reasons are not right.
  19. Yes, that's true indeed, if we use our immagination we can do anything. You know, the whole matter started because a fellow american of yours stated that "the sad clown of series 10 is american". I really felt insulted, that's an Italian heritage. You know, without being racist, you americans have a great nationalist spirit, which can be sometimes a very good thing, and sometimes a very bad things, like when you "americanize" everything. It's not the matter of you in particoular, but when it comes to american, too often since US are one of the most powerful countries in the world, americans tend to be quite unaware of the rest of the world. Likewise: you say "America", but America is a continent taking also Mexico, Canada, Brasil and so on. I bet when an US citizen says God Bless America he isn't wishing blessings to Chilean people too. Or again: it's very difficult to find an american who speaks another language but english. In Europe or Asia, you will always have people speaking their own language AND english. Take me, english is my third language, being the first italian and the second french, though if you want to communicate with the majority of the people you have to learn english. I repeat, I don't want to offend american people or culture, since whatever one may think US are a great nation, but too often happens that US citizens are a bit selfish, you too admitted you have pro-american bias... you're not alone. I believe, to increase cultural interchange, that americans should learn to dismiss their pro-american bias, as the greatness of their country always mislead them to think they're alone. No offence meant, I repeat, I have a large esteem for US as a country, holding together so much different kinds of people is IMHO one of the best examples of the culture the world should share, the most multicultural possible.
  20. You're right about germany, not about switzerland, the guy represented with a pretzel can so be: Italian, Austrian, Swiss or German. Not just pretty german. In my list I of course stated him German because it's clearly a bavarian, but most tyrolese dress that way too.
  21. Well, even with your most generic list (it's easy to see: no nation and so on), you did some errors. Actually, not. He can truly be from Tyrol, which is located among Western Austria, Southern Germany, Eastern Switzerland. Actually, not. Many hollywood starlets are indeed not american, take Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett, Nathalie Portman. They do totally represent an hollywood starlet, yet they're not american. So you should say "Hollywood starlet can come from any country". If you do that for me, please don't waste your time. I do not value any list that says "this character can be from anywhere". Following this criteria, any character can be from anywhere. Just you put a costume of that thing, you can do that in any nation. I can also re write the full list to suit all characters italian, if you want to. Take series 1: Clown? Italian, we invented circus. Cowboy? Clearly Italian. My Cowboy idea is from this movie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Good,_the_Bad_and_the_Ugly which is clearly an italian movie. Magician? Well come on he's italian don't you see that moustache? Who would sport a moustache like that if not italian? Skater? Italian. A friend of mine is an italian skater. Just kidding, no offence meant... but saying "that character can be from anywhere" you're not doing a list for nationality, just a list of "anywhere" repeated 160 times.
  22. Lol! Well, for every single minifig who represents a job/profession, I could also have stated: it's Chinese. Nobody could argue about the fact that there are more Chinese nurses than other countries', so butchers, waiters, and so on. By the way, I would like to add a thing: I find it funny that I chose just a minifigure in a total arbitrary way and yet nobody found that. Yes, 159 out of 160 follow a criteria, one is totally arbitrary, and nobody has yet found that!
  23. Let me please add a little more. It's very easy to tell "I have my list, you've yours" when I posted my list of 160 minifigures and you hardly posted 4 or 5. Actually I do have a list and you have not. Hence, I can be attacked and criticized and you can not. This is unfair. You should post your list too here, so that we can argue about how inaccurate it can be, and when you'll be in my shoes after hours of research to be attacked randomly, you will finally be able to see my point of view, because you actually can't. That's it. It's easy to say "that's wrong" without saying what's correct. That's not a constructive attitude, IMHO, and Lego teached my how to construct, since that's a building toy ;) No offence meant!
  24. Is this the reason why I changed many figures out of suggestions of people and re-did 4 hours of researches? Sorry, but I feel you want to attack me without reasons and I honestly can't get the reason why... If I offended you in any way I beg pardon, but I really feel your attacks on me are really unnecessary.
  25. But indeed came from a French pen. Strongly arguable. I'd say a big no, sorry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vikings As long as Greenland is within the Kingdom of Denmark, i'll say DEN. If not, I should have separated SCO characters and ENG characters, instead I put UK.
