"You Chose The Wrong Side!"

The 'LEGO Minecraft' theme in general is a rather mixed theme in my opinion. It's pretty much identical to LEGO in the way it encourages creativity by building creations which you'd think fits well with LEGO. However that has actually makes it the weakest aspect of the whole theme as it doesn't contain anything too exciting and comprised of a ton of standard bricks and plates. The unique aspect of this theme is basically traditional LEGO buckets that are licenced and contain the total opposite of the primary colour palette with its exquisite neutral colour palette. I like the idea of a licenced bucket however it's not well executed by the designers for my taste, these models are clearly not targeted towards me who avidly enjoys meticulous models; they are targeted to younger kids who need simple models that express the game relative to successful products for worldwide consumers. In fact I'd only purchase The Mine (21118) and The First Night (21115) over any other 'LEGO Minecraft' set regardless of RRP, including this upcoming set. (Although I have yet to purchase either; it clearly shows I’m not too thrilled with these products over other products and themes from LEGO.) Certain aspects of the concept are well executed however it still looks like a regular Minecraft set designed much like an exclusive Super-Pack which is made up of several smaller sets. In my eyes this model didn't deserve it nor did this theme require it considering the whole concept and idea of the 'LEGO Minecraft' theme revolves around customisation, rebuilding and expansion. The fact it doesn't contain anything eye catching that you would be worth purchasing. It’s a huge downside to this product and makes it the weakest ‘Direct To Consumer (D2C)’ product in recent years purely based on the visual language and execution. The difference between a retail set against a D2C set is the vast amount of detail; oddly enough the larger elements of D2C sets always get the most attention to detail however this is shows a complete opposite with the smaller elements being the main highlights of the set. Both village huts look extremely dull; those should have been the spotlight of the set given that the set is called 'The Village' they could have taken a much more advanced approach by increasing the details and building techniques; instead they kept it the same for majority of the model that the retail 'LEGO Minecraft' sets already contain. People are going to find it very hard to purchase this set for the model; it just doesn’t scream attention the way other D2C products do. It contains nothing new and exciting that is worth spending its RRP for; I’m not complaining about the RRP its execution that is not worth spending the RRP. I’d prefer a single much detailed village; both exterior and interior rather than having two identical ones which don’t add visual interest. Additionally they could have improved the watch tower and pretty much kept majority if what they already included in the set the same. I don't believe these past few D2C products are underwhelming models and concepts; they contain 'extra' components for the sake of a 'Direct To Consumer (D2C)' model, each of which clearly can be broken down into several smaller sets much like the Assault On Hoth (75098) and Batman, Classic TV Series, Batcave (76052) sets. Therefore it results in negativity against these products as the majority of previous D2C sets have been 'models' not 'play sets.' Additionally the prices of recent D2C products have been £150+ besides Modular Buildings, Large Scale Vehicles and the Winter Village sets which have had a much better reception over these much larger products simply due to the value for money at a very lower price; it shows as each of those concepts have proven to be extremely successful among a large number of LEGO fans and children alike. LEGO need take a step back with the D2C sets, they initially were targeted towards adults; models that they would want to display not play sets and expressed you could do much more than with the LEGO elements. Additionally I don’t see parent’s paying for this product over the vast amount of other products. This is my purely opinion and you’re entitled to your own, I understand LEGO is a business to sell products to consumers and if they feel they are doing the right thing who am I to tell them what to do. The sales will inform them how successful they are and aren’t. Purchasing a product lets them know what is successful and what isn’t.

MOC: Batman, Classic TV Series - Batmobile (Mighty Micro)
Adeel Zubair replied to Adeel Zubair's topic in LEGO Licensed
Haha, thanks! Indeed; if it wasn't for those and the stickers the outcome would be drastically different and wouldn't have the same effect. I also used two at the rear however I didn't think a second picture was really necessary; nothing special besides that they fit perfectly with the angles of the cheese wedges on the sides and a 2x2 jumper plate with a wheel attached to it as the exhaust. -

Thanks everyone for the positive comments. That was exactly my goal, I'm glad it worked out given the constraints of the space and style of the Mighty Micros. Thanks! Comments like those keep me dedicated and confident in the work I produce, additionally any type of interaction is grateful; such a as a simple like or comment. It seams I'm quite quick however these two have been done weeks ago however I was just waiting for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016) to be released as the anticipation is at it's highest point, which would also attract more attention over a random date the the MOC was posted. -
MOC: Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice - Mini Batwing
Adeel Zubair replied to Adeel Zubair's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks guys for all the positive comments about the model being equivalent to LEGO's ploybag models and wanting to build your own. I haven't got any experience in designing custom instructions, however it's a tool I'm willing to learn as it will be very useful for giving others an experience and to own the models themselves. Therefore below is the a link to download the original 'LXF File' which is for personal use only. Mini Batwing By Adeel Zubair (LEGO Digital Designer - LXF File) https://www.dropbox.com/s/jwi5c7qj5svuo5a/Batman%20V%20Superman%20-%20Mini%20Batwing%20By%20Adeel%20Zubair.lxf?dl=0 I personally like the larger Batwing from '76046 - Heroes of Justice: Sky High Battle' I just find it a little flat and squashed however that could just be the actual design for the Batwing featured from the movie.- 12 replies

Seats: 1x Batman (Adam West.) My aim was to pack as much detail as possible whilst still having clarity and simplicity into the model without having additional weight to the model e.g. height and length. Two aspects of the model wouldn't have made the outcome as accurate those are the '6141554 - Plate 2X2 27 Deg' and '6141556 - Right Plate 2X2 27Deg' for the front and rear of the model. Additionally the featured stickers are from '75909 - McLaren P1' which add the iconic front details. Ironically they are perfectly shaped for this Batmobile. I started a small number of freelance commissions last year and I appreciate the idea and would like to pursue the concept further. It would improve my creativity, working in a constrained time frame, collaborating with others and building a portfolio of designs towards my main ambition of becoming a product designer. I'm currently struggling on what is a reasonable rate for each commission. I was thinking of 0.50p / 0.75p per LEGO element (postage NOT included in quoted price.) The price will cover the labour and time in designing the concept and service; additionally the cost of the LEGO elements themselves. NB: I'm not taking any commissions yet; these are just early concepts. My LEGO Creations: https://www.flickr.c...157645785522606 Insights and suggestions would be appreciated, Adeel

It fit's exactly with what I've been doing last year with mine. I'm just disappointed that they are not factory sealed prizes. 8x8 Vignette Series -
I just noticed a pattern regarding the Simpsons sets... -Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire (December 17, 1989.) "25th anniversary of the first appearance of 742 Evergreen Terrace." -The Telltale Head (February 25, 1990.) "25th anniversary of the first appearance of the Kwik-E-Mart." -Three Men and a Comic Book (May 9, 1991.) "25th anniversary of the first appearance of The Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop." Fingers crossed the pattern continues this year too...

DC Super Heroes - 76052 Batman™ Classic TV Series - Batcave
Adeel Zubair replied to CopMike's topic in LEGO Licensed
The design and execution of the set is pretty much the best representation of a 'cave' they could have possibly done, and better than most MOC's from what I recall, it has a pleasing artistic style to it. I have no complains on any of the design aspects of the model besides two issues: the exposed '4613196 - Plate 16X16' on the towering area of the playset. Additionally #6860 - The Batcave designed by Marcos Bessa had a much better transformation function between the alter-ego and heroes, where this one lacks the 'transformation but succeeds on the spinning feature with the use of the new 'firehouse' pole. The Minifigures are outstanding besides the exclusion of Batgirl and Mr. Freeze (which I have heard is coming in a ploybag but it's odd it's not included) and I still don't know why LEGO is lacking with their printing on dark Minifigure heads. I dislike the number of stickers especially the two large 8x16 ones. Those printed 1x4 bricks look out of place with the LEGO System and their simplistic style. My main critique of the entire set is the the price of the set compared to it's 'size.' this set in no way shape or form looks like a £229.99 set with 2,526 pieces, more like £149.99 set. Nor does it look appealing enough to spend the RRP, even though I mentioned it's appealing aesthetics; just not enough. I guess the price of the set could have been driven up given this is the only set based on the 1966 TV series and it had to include all the new prints and other graphics like many other one off sets. -
