  1. I can't be the only person getting Jurassic Park D2C (75936) flashbacks from all of the "we're absolutely getting a Diagon Alley D2C set! It's been confirmed!!" hubbub in here? Everyone here was so certain that set would be a model of the visitor's center, with constant postulating on which features and minifigs would be included. Then it came out, and everyone ranted and raved because it wasn't the visitor's center they'd convinced themselves they were getting, hahaha. It's probably going to be an Expert scale model of Hagrid's bike or the Knight Bus, guys.
  2. Huh? The entire appeal of the line from day one has been the outstanding models. The app wasn't even a consideration for me when I bought up the initial wave. I don't think I even tried it out until Halloween. The outstanding æsthetic of the entire theme is head and shoulders above anything else Lego is currently offering this side of Creator Expert sets. Outside of the school, the transformation features were all implemented without any consideration for the app. They were there to enhance the models themselves. I dunno how you arrived at the idea that wave two was more focused on the models over app integration? Outside of the plane, there was no effort given even to concealing the colour wheels. Wave one saw them cleverly integrated into the builds so as not to interrupt the look of the finished model. They're all still fun models that add to the theme, but they're def a step down from the perfection that was the first wave.
  3. Right? I fell in love with ths quirkiness of the Caterbus set upon seeing the initial product reveal. It was an instant 'must have' set based solely on it's unique garish appearance. I've since picked them all up, and am really hoping to see a second wave. I like that most of the sets really mesh together and you end up with a bustling little Troll village by the end of it. It's full cute. The felt parts struck me as a bit odd at first, but then I saw the film (I'm a little late to the party, I know). It makes sense to add that texture to thd builds, given the soft fuzzy look of the animation. After seeing that I felt their inclusion was inspired. It was suddenly a bit disappointing that several of the sets don't have any felt pieces at all, hahaha.
  4. It's entirely possible that they don't carry the whole line. The Walmart nearest me seldom has the complete range for any one theme. They'll have several sets from each theme, but often not the larger sets. Luckily, it's right close to a TRU that stocks the entire current Lego catalog.
  5. There are scads of them. Everything from Kingdom Come, to Red Son, to The Nail, etc, etc... were all 'Elseworlds' stories. 'Elseworlds' was just a generic imprint when DC decided to tell a story outside of the Earth One timeline.
  6. Which Elsworlds Flash? There are many of them.
  7. Really? I've quite enjoyed all of the recent DC movie sets. The Aquaman set was a bit meh (the JL Aquaman set was far superior, offering Atlantean soldier and Parademon army builders in a cheap set), but Mera was a most welcome addition to the collection. The Justice League sets were all fun builds, even if the Batmobile was just a tweaked version of one we previously got. The minifigs were all top shelf, with Flash and Cyborg standing out as two of the finest minifigs Lego has ever done. The Wonder Woman set was perfection. Ares and Steve were just 'must have' characters for WW fans. The BVS sets were all just fine. The Batwing set included all of the core characters and a fully fidget friendly action feature for the plane itself. The other two sets included nice useful extras like Lexcorp goons and extra Kryptonite crystals. I can't say that I was disappointed by any of them, tbh.
  8. Right? She looks fantastic, imho. It's very reminiscent of her appearance in the Perez issues where she debuted. I'm not at all a fan of her current look in the comics, so a bit of a throwback is a nice touch. The slicked hair is just pure 80s fromage that adds that extra kick to the look!
  9. It was part of his profile on the official HS page since before the first wave even hit store shelves, that he was 'the new kid in town who's mother was also the principal' or something to that effect. It was actually finally meeting Parker's parents that kind of surprised me in that episode. They've been completely absent from the narrative until now. Edit: https://www.lego.com/en-us/campaigns/kids/hidden-side/season-1
  10. I wasn't being even remotely sarcastic, actually. I freaking love the HS æsthetic! I've never really been one to build a Lego city, but I'll eagerly snap up literally anything the HS team puts out in an effort to flesh out Newbury. I full on adore the small town charm of the line mixed with the horror and sci-fi elements. I can't get enough of it! I would actually kill for a small town style water tower, decked out with haunting features and/or some of JB's tech. I'm less keen on some of the smaller vignette style builds, like the lab and the subway station... but even they are gorgeous for what they are. I just have no idea how to situate them with the more robust builds without some serious MOCing. The school, the diner, the lighthouse, the train and station, the graveyard, the fairground, the portal, the juice bar... I love them all! Like, that was what drew me into the theme: the buildings and landmarks. The vehicles have all been exceptional as well, (baring the questionable promo drag racer design). Even the little side builds, like the portaloo, motor trike, go kart, and even the coastal rocks have been stand outs! That's just the builds. The characters have all been phenomenal! Every set comes with interesting new townies and thier ghoulish transformations. This side of the Lego Movie themes there has never been a theme that I adore as much as this one. I will absolutely buy anything and everything they release, eagerly adding new landmarks and citizens to Newbury.
  11. How could it ever get old? More of the same would be absolutely perfect! Keep churning out run down town locations until all of Newbury is represented, and I'll be happy. Just imagine if it got to the point where we're getting random houses and water towers?! Maybe a haunted old barn? There's really no end to the sets they could produce just sticking with the "anywhere USA" æsthetic, and it would never, ever be enough.
  12. That's really all it is though. It's a matter of personal preference. Other than the Haunted House and the castle, I've no use for the builds in the rest of the line. They range from pitifully basic throwaway pap to full on eyesores. HS has a certain charm to it that has me snapping up each and every set. Outside of the current S@H dragster promo set, I've yef to be disappointed with a set in the theme. One man's trash and all that. /shrug.
  13. Yeah, the second wave was great! It was definitely a tonal shift from the first wave, but each set offered up something fantastic. Even the much maligned beach buggy gave us a fun little fidget toy, not to mention the brilliant two headed haunted mechanic minifig. There was no 'showcase' set like the school or the bus, but it offered up some interesting builds (the plane is my personal favorite) and some great new Newbury locales... all at reasonable price points. The lighthouse was especially welcome, expanding on the Newbury waterfront. From the digital side, the devs really amped it up for wave 2. The virtual environments for the wave 2 sets are rather impressive. I spent a large chunk of time just exploring the environmets, taking it all in. There were layers upon layers of detail in each level.
  14. They were in a weird place at my nearest Walmart, tucked into the Trolls display beside the Trolls polybag set.
  15. It stands for Evelina. It was in one of the ghost's bios.
  16. I hope that list is legit! All of it sounds amazing! The price points seem to indicate that these will be substantial builds, which is really nice to see after the slew of smaller builds in the second wave.
  17. Yeah, it's kinda random, eh? I mean, we already got his normal head with the Stunt Truck, but for people who only get him in this promo set it feels a bit... cheap. I was just happy to get a new HoH torso, tbh. I'd already planned to give it a different head to create a new gang member. The build itself is, imho, the first real disappointment in the HS line. It's very lackluster. It's hard to complain about something free though. I'll probably go back for another one this week, just for more HoH torsos! :D
  18. Yeah, we have excellent minifigs of the BoP ladies. Black Canary is legit one of my favorite DC minifigs. Her alternate expression, really belting out one her sonic screams, is probably the single best face prints Lego has ever done! A Black Mask would be freaking amazing though! His role in Brubaker's Catwoman run was one of the darkest stories I've ever read.
  19. I'm kinda hooked on these now. I picked up one out of curiosity, and have since picked up three more. I think I'll probably end up getting them all at this point. After I started building these, I investigated a few episodes the Netflix series to get to know the characters, and now I really want a Smidge minifig. i hope there's at least a second wave so they can release her, hahaha.
  20. Which is why I honestly feel that the DC Superhero Girls line was absolutely the best DC line Lego has ever done. It gave us a Lexcorp warehouse, the school (a decent placeholder for the Hall of Justice), and even Eclipso's castle. It filled a nice little niche in the otherwise overly Bat-centric line, offering up exotic locales to place all of your DC minifigs in. Unfortunately, the dismal sales of the line don't bode all that well for more of this. This year is off to a brilliant start, imho. Sixteen new minifigs without having to purchse another Bat-mech/sub/plane/whatever, and a new Wonder Woman set on the way? It's already a far better year than last (excluding, of course, the amazing 89 Batmobile!) by a long shot. If they release nothing else all year, this will still be infinitely better than last year's pile of steaming rubbish. If something amazing pops up down the pipe, it's pure gravy at this point. :)
  21. I think that's a bit of a stretch. It's clearly some sort of afterlife realm, but I've seen no indication that it's in any way tied to any sort of Judeo-Christian mythology. It's just a place full of ghosts, made particularly unpleasant by Lady E's dominion over it. Not all of the ghosts you catch were necessarily 'bad' people in life. Most of them were just clumsy or foolish.
  22. Oh, I'm not expecting new prints on the minifigs. Just more torsos for gang members are welcome. :)
  23. I'd assume that's an error, or a running change in production. I got transparent parts with all of the sets. I'm sure it's fine either way though, no? The spring green parts might actually be more suitable as they'd more closely match the colour of the various haunted details in most of the HS builds.
  24. The Drag Racer (set 40408). It's available January 24 to February 9 with a 50$ spend. There's also a second polybag due out this year featuring Enzo (the cook from the Shrimp Shack) and a hot dog stand.
  25. I really just want a Hares of Havoc club house set. That's the main thing I'd like to see. I'm already full stoked to see another gang member will be included in the upcoming GWP set later this month. There's also this rather ominous cathedral that is notably present in every piece promotional art. I wonder if it's significant? A haunted cathedral set could be amazing!
