If the torsos have a function like Rahkshi/Vahki they most likely are built from two new different parts, also notice there's a new tooth gear mold with an axle molded in it on Ikir's and Ketar's back.

Dunno, it looks more like an ancient industrial area to me, it could very well be the jungle region's protector ruins. And well it might not even be CGI but considering that they aren't going to put Elves on to Netflix means that the Bionicle animations must have a better production quality than those. Elves animations are 10-minute shorts with a more detailed art and multiple voiceactors. Next logical step is CGI.

Had a little talk with CM4Sci, apparently there was no mention of Netflix on Elves pages on the catalog at least and seeing that they are 10 minute flash animations I would guess the Bionicle animations will be on par with the Hero Factory ones.

Most of the G1 boxarts were just splashes of energy and a shallow outline of the background itself, or even something more pathetic like the Mahri. But just to name a few, While I liked the 01 and 02 they were kinda... stale, In 2004 we got pretty nice boxarts for every set, usually Villains had to with some obscure thing resembling the years main theme. 2005 was... well even that was aesthetically bad, 2006 had a nice theme going on but not really that interesting, 2007 seven followed the same pattern, expect everything was blue and Mahri had the laziest boxarts of the whole G1. Phantoka started well, kinda stale again but I really liked the Mistika boxart, same can be said for winter glatorian and the titans as well, summer ones were just splashes of energy with the giant maze map and weak outlines of the surroundings, I hate how Stars Takanuva had snow in the boxart, rest worked just fine. Hero Factory had some really nice boxart actually most of the time after the first wave. But I gotta say, while 2015 has it awesome Umarak's prelimnary box art has won me already, there's just so much detail, different characters and structures seem really interesting.

The SW add-on could work.

Ikir has a flapping function, that alone is super cool and I believe they will replicate it on Uxar. Could Terak have a gearbox for digging? whatever it is functions or not I find it that Ikir and Uxar will be the best of the creatures for many people because what can top a flapping function? That said, because Akida has two six-shooters I find it large possibility that he/she doesn't really have a unique function.

Look at Gali's boxart, it's clear she has a weapon on the other end of the staff as well. Her pose is bad, masks features are obscured due to the lighting, and there are orange spikes on the weapon that balances the lone orange Vorox armor, not even mentioning that she has asymmetry on her left thigh in the form of y-joint as well. I believe when we get better pictures and preferably a different pose people will like the set much more. Same kinda goes for Kopaka, focusing the pose to his armpits is... not that effective.

Some people have pointed out that Gali seems to have a y-joint on her left thigh. Weapon holstering? Extra weapon?

Focusing all the resources to create a gigantic Makuta with MouP and nothing else in the set. Given if you meant by final wave 2017.

The piston add-on we got this year got stale pretty fast imo and that really shows with Onua and Tahu now, it looks so out of place and the new "shell" actually looks like something that could go on for multiple years and it doesn't help that they seemingly are from different material as well, Kopaka's/Tahu's/legs/Creature's chest piece is made from the same material as the 2.0 foot when the this years piston add-on was from the same as the weapons.

I got the sense that he was using Brutaka as an example of an aesthetic failure, failure that was part of Bionicle's downfall buy affecting sales, thus business in his opinion.

Weird, you're the first person to bring up that you hate Brutaka. Lego knows better than you know anything about their business stop acting like you know. They give that zombie feel, on extreme conditions the dark red bohrok-eyes could be taken as muscletissue, They give nice posability too but due to ankles being what they are the balance could be a problem.

The brain attack sets didn't have any facial features, the head was as bland as a cosntraction head can almost be (Inika lol) So having a bland head was also more faithful to the minifigures, as stupid as that sounds.
-
Before people continue the fighting over the new "shell" I'd like to point out that the leg bone is a new recolor of the 6-module bone on Kopaka and hopefully on Gali's lover legs too.

And yet it has more connection points than any G1 armor of same size. It's like how we complained the skeletonbones having no other connection than balljoint and socket... and now people complain about something like this.

It for sure wouldn't be just a clone of Ekimu.

It's as much Umarak as Witcher 3's Leshen. The general idea of the "deerman" seems to be all over northern and Slavic mythos.

Whatever it will be I have a feeling it will make this years animations absolutely pointless.
-
Should the talk about the upcoming animations go to here? I guess so. Anyways, there are no commercials on Netflix and would they really put 90 seconds of animations in there? There has to be some minimum there, right? 10 minutes, 20, CGI? Ghost?

Ikir uses new type of gear piece. It seems to be like 3-long axle with a gear in the middle. Pretty sure it gives some kind of flapping function for him and will be repeated on Uxar. I really like those two fellas. Others... not so much, Melum is the most disappointing set of them all being just a Terak with a boring colorscheme and even less claws. In my opinion some of the sets look worse than they are because of their pose. This shows especially with Tahu and Gali and even with Kopaka. And for people saying that Gali's mask is bad look at the golden one in the Tahu/Onua pic instead I think it's on the same par as this years. Kinda has a "punK" look to it with what looks like a spiky hair and lip piercing.

I'm still bothered by the new dualinjected addon. While the more mechanical shell seems to be absolutely awesome the element "feather" addon is completely different and leaves awful gaps like seen on Gali and Kopaka.

I'm more worried about the gappy thighs, they could have added the new piston shell there instead and skrall armor atop of it. Sincerely hope they will do some small changes ta least like they with her 2015 prelimnary by placing the thigh shells upside down.
