For weapons, I'm envisioning it playing out in somewhat of a Darths and Droids style situation: Blasters would basically be retooled bows and hand-cannons. It would be the classes themselves that would need most of the retooling. Healing would probably be something like in SW:tOR - either you deploy a little drone that heals everyone, or you swipe your hand around on a datapad. Which heals people. For some reason. Or your cannon shoots shiny green beams that heal people. Which makes equally as much sense. I think, in regards to healing, we'll just need to frequently sing the MST3000 mantra and move on.

QM Note: Then you'd be casting Light, not Wind, and Bobby would be attacking with Twin Sais from the front row.

I've actually got something like than half-planned as part of my eventual quest chain...Not exactly the same, but like it. I get that. I'm picturing myself running one of them, with the full awareness that it would be a heavy workload.I have stories I want to tell, and they are worth telling, but they only work to their best in the universe I've created. I fully understand though, that people have their opinions as to "what would work best for a Herocia styled RPG," and so, the best solution for all that I can see, is my running my own, separate game. I understand that people are going to suggest that I just change the stories, but that's not as simple an idea as you might think. Think about Star Wars. Would it really be the same story it is if Lucas had rewritten it to fit in as part of Star Trek? (And no, I'm not comparing my universe to Star Wars, I'm using it as an easily recognizable example of a story that works best in its own universe.)

The Munchkin cocked his eye, moderately impressed at the dwarf's directness."You and I are either going to become great friends, or great opponents. Either end result, I am looking forward to it."

Love the logo. Seriously, (assuming we had people to run them both), why couldn't we have two games running simultaneously, and occasionally crossing over with each other? One with classic factions, one without? It's a huge LEGO universe out there, and there's more than enough room.

Classic Factions. A dozen times over.I get why using existing castle factions wouldn't work, but I really don't think that using existing classic space factions would be limiting. Or, we could all just take a third option, and two different games could be made - one with CS factions, one without...

I was calling it Herospace because it's a separate story from Heroica. I understand the branding concept, but it's not supposed to be Heroica in space literally, it just uses a reskin of Heroica-styled rules. (See the very first Darths and Droids strips for a better explanation than I can give.) I do envision Olegia being in the same universe, though, so I could go for the branding - I just really don't see this as being "Olegia rises to the stars."I'm also using/pushing for the classic factions because I'm seeing this game aimed towards at both the RPGrs here and at the builders in the Sci Fi forum, and because it would just plain be fun to play with them as a main part of the game.

"I can vouch for Master Darksten's having plenty of arrows - almost too many, as it were." The Black Knight's voice was laced with dripping sarcasm. He was more than willing to forget that it had been Darksten's continued waking of the Bugbears that had gotten that first Field's party knocked out, but if Darksten was going to make jibes at the Munchkin's weapons of choice when it was Darksten's fault that they had utterly failed, well, that crossed a line in the Munchkin's book.

Pelly's Paradise Day Four: Bang, You Dead
Lind Whisperer replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Here's the basic overview, so far as I've understood:Day 1: I, thinking that Tammo is town, and having no reasons to doubt this, seconded his motions for the next day's vig. Dragonfire says I have no real reasons, which was true, because at that point I was still warming up after a very long hiatus away from mafia, but knowing this would look scummy of me, I didn't want to admit this, so I flailed. Stupid, n00bie, etc of me, yes. Reason to lynch me? None other than the usual "hang the easiest bandwagon" feelings of Day 1. Day 2. Nothing much happened, other than that I listened to Shadows, and realized that Tammo was flailing wildly. I voted for him, and we found out the next day he was scum. Day 3. Dave 3. I get randomly assigned the Flash Cowl. 2 different players PM me about it - Dragonfire, who advises me to steal Starlord's Mask, and Brickelodeaon, who tells me to steal Dave's costume and target him. If my attempt to kill Dave is blocked, "then we'll know Dave's scum." He promises to back me up if anything goes wrong. Night 3. My attempt to vig kill Dave is blocked. Day 4. Brick and Dave both start saying I must be scum because I was blocked. How that is supposed to make sense, I do not know. Whatever happens, they start attacking me in unison, and everyone else joins in, for fear of being labeled scum by the resident cop, regardless of whether they've been investigated or not. I ralize that they've been handing one object back and forth every day - Blackbeard's hair - and I assume that they're scum and have been hiding something from the town. Convinced that Dave bussed MT, I'm afraid they're going to use vig to keep killing townies, so I take it, in the hopes that even if I get lynched, the killing of townies will slow down. After the voting opens up, and everyone's leaping onto my bandwagon, Brick PMs me, saying that he "knows I'm scum," and that "he's the scum recruit". He's horrible at baiting - seriously, he couldn't have used more cliches if he tried - but after his attack earlier, I'm pinning him as possibly scum, so I play along. After I can't get any more information out of him, I reveal his confession in ingame. He claims to have been baiting me, and after analyzing the conversation, it's pretty clear that we were both baiting each other - I apparently bait too well, though, and he's convinced that I got "PM warned by my scum buddies" that it was a bait, because I was AKF for a couple of hours in between the final messages. Bob leaped in as helpful as he's ever been in this game - not very at all - and starts waving his magic "scum list" around, which he changes regularly, according to the most popular bandwagon. I call him on this, he flails and doesn't rebut my points successfully in the slightest, and I vote for him, since I'm pretty sure at this point that Brick's town, and Dave...No idea, other than that he's a bad team player. -
"I was dodging at the command of the Dodekube. And even when I was forced to dodge, I was still absorbing free punches that could have easily knocked you or the battle mage out.No, I've already been through the fields twice before, so I've decided to wait until other options present themselves. That one quest by that Kalif sounds interesting, but it also sounds as if he would prefer slightly less experienced heroes - probably one of those cases where they want to make sure the heroes will draw as little attention as possible."
-
The Munchkin raised his hand. "Although his hand-to-hand techniques are...amusing, I can vouch for the gnome's skill at healing. He's also not that bad with a hand-cannon."

Pelly's Paradise Day Four: Bang, You Dead
Lind Whisperer replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I didn't fall for it, I was playing that I was falling for it.Also, your vote doesn't count - you meant to vote Gandalf(Lind Whisperer). There's no one called Lind Whisperer playing this game. Planning on lynching whom when? You seem to be switching the subject of your pronouns somewhere in the middle of the sentence and you don't indicate where. -
"Thanks. Physically, yes, socially, no idea - it's her table." The Black Knight nodded towards Karie.
-
The Munchkin shrugged. "Eh, we all have our more clumsy days. Just water, thank you." Lind pulled a handkerchief out of his pocket, and dabbed at the water that had spilled onto the ogre. "There, that should take care of that." "Ah, Master Darksten! We meet again." The Black Knight nodded towards Karie. "That's her, the witch with all of the face paint."
-
There's Gut's new Death Mage character, and Cryos's character - and #128 should be finishing up soon as well(I'm presuming). I'd vote against this very strongly. #131 was originally made for bottom leveled heroes, and, well, I'll simply say there have been "problems" with the re-tooling.

Pelly's Paradise Day Four: Bang, You Dead
Lind Whisperer replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
What have you contributed to this game? Today's the first day you've posted more than a single post. Every time you post, you attack whichever targets are most likely, putting them on your 'scum list,' or taking them off as town moves the focus away from them. That's all you do. Again, you're just picking on the most likely target. You're not actually adding anything, you're just loudly saying "Scum is bad!". That's scum behavior 101. It was a joke vote(I'm presuming.) But you missed that, because you're blindly accusing anyone that you think might have a vote swung onto them. Vote: Bob ( 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea) -

After searching through the other three days, apparently it wasn't. I told Dragonfire about it before he was killed - I must have gotten that confused with the main game.
