  1. This is just lovely! If you're planning to release the instructions, I'd definitely be interested :)
  2. There are so many! Star Wars was the theme that brought me out of my dark ages/from the dark side. I have an almost complete collection of SW from 1999-2006. But today it's a mix of classic castle, Vikings, old pirates and many more. Should I pick one, I'm afraid I have to join the "Modular buildings" group. What can I say - I love them. I have all of the released sets, except the PR and DA (plan to get them soon). I also enjoy buying instructions for the great fan-made modulars and collect pieces to build them. I have three of those, working on my fourth. So the modular street is starting to look quite impressive :)
  3. Thanks all, I've gotten som great ideas for toilets for my MOC :) Does anyone have a good suggestion for building a shower? I just have a 2x2 stud space to fit it in...
  4. Wow! I love this one! Great use of different shades of brown as well. And not to forget - my favorite Lego animal, the rare seagull :)
  5. Get the yacht! :) And yes, I think that the best thing to do is to show kids that it's okay to play with whatever they like at the moment, no matter if it's aimed at boys or girls. And the Friends theme has lots of great features, especially if you're a city builder like me.
  6. I'm a woman, and 40+. If I tell someone that I have a Lego city collection, I wouldn't get the same reaction as if my husband told someone that he had a Lego Friends collection. That, IMO, is the core of the problem. A girl who plays with things aimed for boys is cool. A boy who plays with things aimed for girls is.. not. I hope that male AFOL's of all ages show their daughters/girlfriends/other females close to them that Friends isn't just for girls, and that it's okay - and actually fun - to own and build.
  7. Very nice MOC! I'm curious - where did the Joseph minifig come from? I don't recognize him, but he seems useful... :)
  8. I bought it as a parts pack. Great when you're into modular buildings (designed by others or yourself), and pretty useful for everything else as well :)
  9. I hade somewhat of a dark age (again) between 2007 and 2010, due to other stuff going on in life and not so much money to spend. But I was fortunate enough to make a trade that IMO was great. I traded my Santa Fee (10020) and two wagons for a GG and CC. Mine were built once and displayed. The ones I got for trade were pretty much the same, although the CC wasn't complete. On the other hand, the CC had some duplicate parts from another CC. All sets had boxes and mint instructions. The only modular I bricklinked from scratch was 10190, Market Street. I built it with regular blue instead of dark blue, and I'm happy with the result. As a female AFOL, it might interest you that my fiancée is not that interested in my Lego collection. I have most of the modular buildings on display at home, and he likes those. I've also bought him the Simpson house in august.. and he hasn't built it yet :) But he doesn't mind me buying Lego, and that all the closet space in our spare room is dedicated to my 800 sets. At the moment I have all the available modulars except the PR, but that one is high on my purchase list!
  10. Great MOC! I agree, you could sell the instructions - I think there might be several people out there who would buy it :)
  11. I bought some white hoses with tabs (think that's the name) and replaced the black ones. Don't think anyone will ever notice :) Also: I bought my Cafe Corner used (aka built once) incomplete from a collector and bricklinked the missing pieces. The seller said there would be some extra parts in the box.. and there was. Among them one extra dark blue arch and 12 extra 1x2x3 white panels with hollow studs. I have no particular use for them, so if someone here would like to trade or buy - let me know. I haven't written much here, but you can check my Bricklink feedback, or perhaps someone remember the days when I moderated on FBTB (just so you know I'm a serious seller/trader).
  12. I bricklinked Market Street a few years ago, and used the regular blue. This is what it looks like:
