There’s been a ton of innovation in the theme. For starters, the wands. Then all the new minifig parts that help make the minifigs look more like the characters. The new locations we got/are getting. The remakes of sets we’ve seen outshine their predecessors. The new creatures.

After Lloyd & Zane’s Titan Mechs I want a Gundam theme more than ever. And the newest one for Jay screams Evangelion to me. They’re definitely throwing us tidbits...but I would to officially have Gundam, or the other two anime ones you listed. Also, the new Monkey King Ultra Mech is the most like a Gundam, complete with MK dressed in a similar fashion to those of G Gundam.

Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Heh, it was more the having 6 extra books & nothing to do with them. Exactly. At least polybags have parts that can be used elsewhere. Those poor books are just gathering dust. -

My Quidditch polybag dream came true! Much better than buying 7 books too. -
This is the best case scenario in my opinion, best of both worlds. The only reason I own three of the Vidiyo ones is because I stumbled upon a full box & looked up the order of them. Boxes, unless marked, would be the end of me buying CMF’s unless I can manage to find a fresh box on the shelf.

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Vindicare replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
The new Guardians sets look great. Well, two look great & one looks okay. I love that ship though. Seeing the trailer had me excited to see the team...was not disappointed. Sweet Mayhem’s gonna steal their ship real quick. -
Daily Bugle is a *boring* set though. It’s a tall building with a lot of glass. The build surprisingly wasn’t as tedious as I thought it was going to be. I love the set, but it’s far from being the best. Minifig wise, it’s close but I still have to give it to Rivendell. Bugle did give us some great superheroes but the others are fairly underwhelming(aside from JJJ’a alt face). Value I’ll give to Bugle though. $500 is a lot to swallow no mater the set. Even with the underwhelming minifigures, we still get a boatload in the Bugle. Design, there’s no contest there, Rivendell is ornate& gorgeous. Display is about equal footing for me as well. Bugle is tall(double what Rivendell is), but doesn’t take a lot of shelf space...while Rivendell is over 2 feet long...

That’s kinda the problem with the way things go now too. An IP set will get 10,000 no problem because fans pick up on it & it gets passed around fan sites. Now, it’s hard to say how many make the effort to signup for Ideas & hit the support button. I’m not knocking IP’s at all, most of the Ideas sets I bought were Licensed, but I love the original ideas better, like Ship in a Bottle or Maze. One sort of leg they have to stand on, and ignoring the fine print Peppermint_M posted for the sake of argument, I remember this accusation with the Monster Fighters Haunted House. But when you search “haunted house” they all look very similar to birth the submission & eventual set.

They’ve made plenty of their own that came out of nowhere. Optimus Prime, Bowser Tallneck just to name a few.

Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I was thinking, as I watched PoA, that the new Expecto Patronum could be from when Lupin was teaching Harry the spell. -
You see a theme with your complaints? All of those ideas were already plagiarized. None of those are original designs made by whoever submitted them to Ideas. If LEGO is guilty of anything, it’s of taking advantage of knowing a handful of people will want X set. Which...is their business. Had they rejected a completely original idea then released it this comment would have a leg to stand on.

I just wish Sirius had more face prints... I absolutely agree. With the leak of all those big sets...along with big price tags...it kinda pissed me off. To dodge the incoming “you don’t have to buy them all” comments, yes I know. But chances are that most of us do our best to buy all of what we like/love & lately it’s very overwhelming. I know they’re taking advantage of their new found fame among adults, but I’d love it if they would pump the brakes a bit. -
I had to really zoom in to see what part that was...ingenious! They look great & portray petals brilliantly.

LEGO Ninjago 2023 Discussion
Vindicare replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Not bad at all. $10 more than Gardens & has about 500 more pieces. I’m envisioning something that isn’t as tall as Gardens, which could lead to some awesome details. My buddy’s hoping for it to be two baseplates, but I’m fine with it being 1 & a half like Docks/Gardens. I’m hoping it’s based more on the movie, unlike Gardens, & we get the TV station. Regardless of what it has in it, I’m wildly excited for yet another addition to this fantastic lineup. Now I need to go make room... -

It’s not a simple question though. Sure, you could get simple answers, it that doesn’t do much for the discussion. As MAB said, there’s many factors that could & do go into actually answering that question. Here’s a comparison from 2015, both $30 sets from Marvel. 10687 a Juniors set- 137 parts, 3 minifgs. 76031- 248 parts, 4 minifigs with one being a bigfig & 2 stickers. I’d wager that’s how a lot of Junior vs System sets would look. Even though I know it’s not the best because Juniors also has a a few bugger than normal parts which also drive cost.- 183 replies

REVIEW: 80044 Monkie Kid's Team Hideout
Vindicare replied to Pchan1983's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Agreed. I think it will pair better with the Mountain, even though it won’t integrate like its shown to with City of Lanterns. I’m not sure what sales are over here, but it’s definitely the fault of LEGO themselves. I tend to wander into Barnes & Noble or Target & make impulse buys semi regularly...none of which are MK since they aren’t available.- 3 replies

How do they feel deja vu? The Ultra Mech couldn’t be any different from the Warrior Mech. It’s so much more solid & bulky. The articulation in the arms is SO much better than the old one. The look is completely different as well. The Hideout is remotely similar in some areas to Flower Fruit Mountain, but still distinct enough to be its own. Elephant Mech is something new too.
-
I don’t expect it to be anytime this month. There was a picture floating around here earlier in the month with the GWP’s for January & the MK polybag wasn’t on there. I’m watching for it too, I want it to put without The Hideout(which I’m waiting to buy once the polybag is available).

Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Vindicare replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I would certainly never buy a $1,000 Hogwarts, but I would love to see it realized. For one thing, the real estate that would take in a home would be crazy. I’m most interested in seeing the Expecto Patronum set...I just don’t understand why they’re remaking it so big. The old set was perfect. What are we gonna get....a small lake portion build? More trees? As to the hypothetical end of the theme & our satisfaction with it...I’m just about there. There’s still a handful of minifigs I’d like to see & a few locations as well to really round it out. But I am more than happy with what we have gotten. Bringing it back to the rumored Gringotts, I’m disappointed that it seemingly has the rail system. Depending on how they do it, it won’t work with the current DA...which would be unthinkable & a stupid move by LEGO. Now if it’s something akin to Jabba’s Palace/Rancor Pit combo from years past, that would work fine. -
I think it would. The taller part has the same kind of look as parts of the Mountain. The other section may stick out a bit as it’s more modern but as that whole set looks good together I’m sure it’ll work as well.
-
I see you paired it with Lanterns, but what about mixing & matching per the back of the instructions? To me, it looks a bit strange as I don’t really see them going well together. It’s kinda like old world & new but doesn’t flow like it does in the Ninjago Modulars.
-
To add on, the articulation in the arms are my favorite improvement. The lack of it in the old one made it feel stiff. I’m not on one side or the other on the foil parts. They do feel, in a way, more authentic. I definitely prefer them on the head of Ultra as they’re ribbons & the old looked more like antennae. Ultra really is better in nearly every way. I say nearly because I liked the ability to move the head up & down on the older one. But the one new has the look & feel of just being an appropriate & bulky upgrade. And the addition of the jet components is just amazing. It really feels complete with them attached. This is now the closest we’ve come to having Gundam in LEGO. The two Titan mechs from Ninjago were close. Edit: One more thing about the Ultra(mechs in general), knees. After we got them in Zane’s Titan mech it makes ones without a little lacking. Minor gripe. Also, Azure Lion’s hair is amazing! It’s certainly a stand out in that set. I too gave Tang his staff. Then I ended up making the full complement of weapons...which are now in the hands of Garmadon.
-
I suppose there’s no word on the polybag that I may have missed? Trends show it’s gonna be a GWP & I’m guessing it’s not gonna be this month. I need to know how long I have to refrain from buying the Hideout.

My friend got the Speed Champions Lambo & 2 of the wheels prints were off centered. That’s a wrong print. And printing on some minifigs, white printing on black bricks, or the Red/white...or should I say pink, Lion faction is bad printing.- 183 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 24. Rumors and discussion
Vindicare replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Got the 8 I really wanted at B&N yesterday. After going to the LEGO store in the morning too. I was happy to see the box they put out hadn’t been touched yet, despite them being open for about 4 hours by the time I showed up. I got all but the Robot Warrior, Orc, Football Referee & Rococo Aristocrat. I don’t have any interest in the ref but I will get the other three later Love all of them, even the Rockin’ Horse Girl. While I’d rather not see minifigs we could get in other themes, like City, I don’t mind them as they’re more people to help populate my city. I’m happy to finally see dinosaur suits make their official debut. For no reason in particular I shy away from 3rd party stuff but man was I missing out on those great dino suits. The Carrot Suit Guy looks even better without his carrot suit.
