MOD - Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart to fit modular street
SeanJFry replied to SeanJFry's topic in LEGO Licensed
I had a request for the LDD file of the Ground Floor, so here it is up on Brickshelf Dropbox for anyone interested. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/18sd53evyyes9i7/AAAXmgMzDeEZWhAXW-zuXirOa?dl=0- 5 replies

MOD - Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart to fit modular street
SeanJFry replied to SeanJFry's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks Yes, that's true, but I'm happy with what I could fit in without being too squashed. No telephones, Power sauce display, coffee machine. Less fridges, magazine racks and shelving. thanks. I have limited space and the only other buildings I own are modulars so that's why I modified it. You'll have to post pictures when it's done. I like to see mods of sets rather than just the official builds. yes, it's quite small compared to the petshop buildings. I'm going to rebuild my modified DO and place it next to the Kwik-E-Mart as they are closer in height.- 5 replies

I have rebuilt my Kwik-E-Mart on a 32 x 32 baseplate to fit into my modular street. I tried to only use parts from the official set except where it was necessary for my sliding door mod. More photos in my Flickr album https://www.flickr.c...157669035000114 And stop motion speed build video

Nice work. :) As Mesabi wrote - only missing that smile. -
Like many others, I wasn't happy that the official Lego Mystery Machine set did not fit the whole gang, so I built a modified version, and made a stop motion video about it.

Thanks.Agreed. And it wasn't many more parts to make it fit all 5 so LEGO really should have made it big enough to begin with.

I've done a mod of the Mystery Machine (75902) so it fits all 5 of the Scooby gang. I made the wheelbase 2 studs longer and rearranged a few things inside. I thought the original design was pretty good so didn't want to change too much, just make it a little larger. A few more photos in my Flickr album https://www.flickr.c...157668544812966 I also made a stop motion animation of the build

Very nice exterior. I did think the same about a sign for the pizza parlor. The interior is fantastic. The poker room is very cool.

Kwik-E-Mart, PR, PS, PC, and Death Star have all gone from 'sold out' to 'out of stock - will ship in 30 days' at S@H Australia.

Thanks! I liked seeing everyone's different take on modding the DO.

Like others I bought two DOs. I wanted the Highlander to be a pub with a bar. This is what I came up with. Access to the Detective's Office and apartment on the first floor is down the alleyway. The Highlander has a bar, toilet, a few tables, pool table, and darts area. The upstairs interior is still a work in progress. I've only been using parts from the two sets, no extras. Al is working at the ticket counter in the Palace Cinema. More photos on Flickr https://www.flickr.c...th/18842306594/

I bought two Double Decker Couch sets, and added the couch from the Sea Cow, and now have a home for my CMF set. Couch_08on Flickr -
The lettuce goes under the pattie! I love it, especially the machine and the fries.

I like that lemonade sign. Is it from a set? I use the scooter from the Parisian restaurant as a pizza delivery scooter shown in my Office moc thread. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=103106 I think the scooters are perfect as a pizza delivery vehicle.

This is what I'd like to see - the Highlander / Ace's office expanded without (in my opinion) the horrible blue building.I want to buy the DO but going to wait for it to arrive in retail here in Australia, and at a 20% off sale, as I can't imagine using any of the blue bricks. I imagine they won't arrive over here until June. Please open a Flickr account. I am really interested in seeing your modular mods.

Thanks. I have been away on holidays, but yes, I am going to finish off the two apartments and medical Centre interiors. Thank you! Thank you. Grandma is retired, and will be living in the left side apartment above the newspaper office. The cool guy with the Space Logo jacket will live in the other apartment.

I had the town sets and space. No castle or pirates! No problem. I'm enjoying sorting through them and rebuilding them. Next up is a small set. 608 Taxi from 1979. I have the instructions for this one, and only one piece missing was a 2x3 blue plate, which I have added top left of photo. 608_01 It was very easy and quick to put together. It has a nice black and blue colour scheme, and the driver is pretty cool with a nice torso print. 608_02 Finally, a close up of the minifig and the printed TAXI sign. Both are in good condition for their age. 608_03 I have a few more little vehicles coming up this week.

I have made a few changes to the facade. More detail to the dark grey end walls, replaced the top ground floor row of white bricks with grey, tidied up the entry roof, changed the footpath tiling, replaced white street lamps with black to all my buildings, and put the signs up. I'm yet to fit out any interiors other than the Newspaper. Feedback on facade changes welcome. I think it's getting closer to complete. Office_18 Office_20 Office_19

I like it in with the modulars. Nice job. Now I wish I had bought one :( Welcome to inner city living :)

This looks awesome in real bricks. Excellent job.

Thanks. I had 4 of those plates, so, yeah, you make use of what you've got! Thanks The dark red bricks were from 3 bike shop / cafe sets that were on sale over here. Thanks. I was trying to make something that would fit, but also had it's own style. Dude only gets $2.00 per delivery. He doesn't care.

I saw a Nanoblock kangaroo set in a toy shop yesterday. Not sure what size it would be when it's built, and I'm not sure if Nanoblock is a dirty word or not.
-
Thanks! Yes. The extra row has made a big difference. Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean by 'length variation' though. I have made a few minor adjustments to the facade, and completely redid the stairs and first floor apartment layouts - unfortunately they are still not done yet! I've also mucked around with decals. They can be a bugger. Front view. I did a few small changes. Office_16 Elevated view Office_14 Street view next to the restaurant and Cinema. Great building. The exterior is very classic looking. The detail in your apartments is amazing too. Those old TVs were ghastly big boxes. It's a nice touch putting one of those in.
