  1. Saw a bunch of the new parts (no penguins though) in the build-a-fig stand at the Chermside store here in Brisbane.
  2. Would the Friends Hedgehog or Hamster work? Those are generally somewhat cute regardless of age.
  3. I see nothing about the stadium that makes it worth buying unless you are a fan of Soccer (and especially UK Soccer) or happen to like that particular stadium. Now if they ever did Suncorp (here in Brisbane) I might be interested...
  4. Are there any Friends animals where the real-life animal is cute enough that the "cutesy" Friends animal would still work in a minifig setting and not look out of place against minifig animals? (bears, big cats, crocodiles, birds etc) Specifically, animals that might work in a zoo (so no pets like dogs or cats and no underwater animals like dolphins)
  5. I would like to applaud whichever genius at LEGO invented the "Great Vehicles" line. I own a whole bunch of them and have also been collecting parts (using my collection and parts I buy second hand) to build a bunch more. Its a great way to get all sorts of neat vehicles (the ones I am collecting parts for include the logging truck, yellow & grey cement mixer and several garbage trucks) And this year is even better with vehicles like the Safari Truck (which I will likely be buying tomorrow)
  6. That particular exclusivity is only in Australia (its exclusive to supermarkets like Coles and Woolworths in Australia, what happens elsewhere I have no idea)
  7. B&P seems to be working for me. Plus I noticed that all the parts I need for my New York Skyline (going to use a few buildings from the NYC skyline architecture set plus some other buildings in the same scale) are available including the 1 x 2 grill tile in tan (that wasn't available last time I looked). The printed 1 x 8 tile isn't available (but I wasn't expecting it to be given those are never sold on B&P and I don't need it for what I am doing)
  8. If you have pictures of that Woolworth Building (or have a link the the contest and entries on Facebook) that would be great. The Woolworth building was one I was considering actually. I am also going to try and do the AT&T Long Lines building because I just love Brutalist architecture :)
  9. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but the new music note tile (found only in the Arial story book set so far, LEGO part number 6288537) contains the first notes of the Disney theme song (When you wish upon a star). Kinda cool IMO :)
  10. And AFAIK we still dont have a bantha...
  11. Has LEGO made an Orbak yet? (the horse things from the new movie) Seems like that's something LEGO should make if they haven't.
  12. As of right now a lot of the rare/special parts from the Steamboat Willie ideas set are available on B&P including what seems to be all the parts that are exclusive to it (black windscreen, potato bin brick, bird, Micky & Minnie legs, Minnie dress, Mickey & Minnie Hat, 1928 tile, music tile, SS Willie tile and guitar). The Micky & Minnie heads aren't available but those are identical to the ones in the CMFs.
  13. Is anyone aware of any MOCs or other ideas out there for New York City buildings that would look good (and not out-of-proportion) alongside the ones in the New York City skyline set?
  14. FYI the new City sets are now available at the LEGO stores here in Brisbane (and probably the ones in Sydney and Melbourne too)
  15. Hopefully the penguins show up at the Dreamworld store soon, once they (and the other new bits) show up I should then be able to make some figs (although it would be better if I could buy random parts instead of actually 3 full figs since I need more accessories and don't need so many heads for example but I dont believe you can do that at Dreamworld :( )
  16. Ignoring stickers, minifigs, the lime green vehicle and the finish line, how hard would it be to build the black Lambo out of parts? Are there any parts in it that are exclusive to it (or very rare)? EDIT: Looking at it some more it looks like the windscreen is exclusive to the set and printed in a way where its only ever going to be used in the set. So there goes that idea, if I want the set I am best just buying it :)
  17. Not sure how new it is but today I spotted the steak piece in the BaM bin at the Dreamworld LEGO store with a dark red print instead of the red that came with the CMF butcher.
  18. I can see myself doing another BaM pack if/when these new parts show up at the Dreamworld store. I need more penguins for my zoo and they aren't available on BnP online (and the BL pricing is too high) so a BaM pack would be a good way to get a few more.
  19. I seem to recall LEGO making a statement that they were changing their policy and not holding back new set parts from B&P the way they used to.
  20. It seems to me that "out of stock" on Bricks & Pieces can mean "we have not got stock yet", "we had stock but we sold it all and are waiting for more stock", "we had stock but the piece is now out of production and we no longer have stock left (or no longer have enough stock that we can sell it through Bricks & Pieces online)" or "we choose not to sell this part on its own for whatever reason". In this case I suspect it means "we have not got stock yet"
  21. I don't see the new sets in the B&P database yet when I search by set.
  22. Public companies have to think very short term to keep share prices up and shareholders happy but LEGO being a privately held family-run company means they have a lot more flexibility to think longer term and do what might be good for the company in the long run.
  23. I don't know about other countries but its established in the US under the first sale doctrine that you can buy something and re-sell it and you don't need permission from the copyright/trademark holder to do so. There are certain issues associated with the resale of digital items and certain computer software but those wouldn't apply to LEGO product or the things sold on Bricklink to the best of my knowledge. (of course IANAL so I can't gaurantee this is accurate but this is what I have read online from people who do know more about what they are talking about).
  24. LEGO wanting to keep things it didn't make (BrickArms, 3D printed parts, counterfeit stuff etc) or modified versions of things it did make (custom printing on genuine LEGO bricks, chromed parts etc) off BrickLink absolutely makes sense and I for one don't have a problem with it. LEGO not allowing things that violate 3rd party copyright/trademarks to be sold as custom sets (MOC shop etc) also makes sense and I have no problem with that either. I wonder how this new rule about not selling parts that have been modified will apply for pneumatic tube? Many pneumatic sets came with long lengths of pneumatic tube and directed you to cut the tube yourself via the instructions. It will also be interesting to see how they handle things that were produced and never officially released but got out there anyway (e.g. the the first version of the Vegas Skyline set, the gold propeller element from that set, the red Darth Vader helmet etc). Or things officially released but only internally or to partners (e.g. the xmas x-wing, the Ramboll oil platform, the various sets based on LEGO buildings or the Q elements made just for the parks and things and not put into a set)
