  1. It could be that the Impulse sets haven't been selling (e.g. Atlantis and traveler) and so a decision has been made not to continue with the line further.
  2. Its simple. Because of the financial crisis in the US, people are buying less toys. So big retailers like Wal-Mart are using their huge power over their suppliers (far bigger than any Australian retailer will ever have) to press for lower prices for the US to attract customers. That means TLG has to increase the prices elsewhere in order to make up for the subsidies given to the US. As for why we keep putting up with it, its that or buy no LEGO at all. Me, I try to buy when there is a sale :)
  3. I dont know about a school bus being popular, dont kids generally hate school?

The Holiday Train refers to the existing set 10173 Holiday Train from 2006
  5. Bricks To The World said this about the pig farmer impulse: "These should be in stock in approx 2 weeks time, if you like we can email you as soon as they arrive." So either LEGO Australia IS getting stock or BTTW has done a special order from some other source (something they seem to do with a bunch of sets they have on their site like the Architecture sets). No idea on price (the email I got didnt say) Either way, it means people wont need to do a Shop @ Home order (or a Bricklink order) to get their pigs :)
  6. I have only seen the garbage truck at TRU (seems to be an exclusive). The yellow dump truck, train and trash compactor are the only TS3 sets I saw at MYER.
  7. For those in Perth, as of today (Saturday) MYER in Morley had the following on the shelf: New blue Lamborghini Police Car (8214) All the new Space Police (including the base) The Endor set The Fire Brigade The Imperial Flagship The new train station (no other new trains though) Plus the 3 TS3 sets (trash compactor, dump truck and train). It looks like the pizza planet truck is currently exclusive to Toyworld.
  8. Thats bad news about the Pig Farmer impulse, maybe someone like bttw.com.au (they always seem to have things in stock that they could not have bought from LEGO Australia like the and had to have bought from somewhere else) will get some in stock. Or maybe the set will appear across the pond in NZ (with people buying from someone over there) EDIT: I have sent a message to bttw.com.au to see if they have anything to say about whether they will or wont be getting stock (its clear from their site they have things that do not come from LEGO Australia) and will report here if they have anything to say. Also if someone has a contact at LEGO Australia, can they find out if/when the LEGO creator set 5867 Super Speedster is going to hit Australia? (Its already available across the pond in NZ)
  9. Anyone know if the Pig Farmer impulse is comming to NZ? News is that its not comming to Australia and if its comming to NZ, that might be a better option to obtain one than a Shop @ Home order.
  10. Some sort of steam powered airship would be great to see. Basically a hot air balloon only bigger and shaped like an airship/blimp. It would use a steam boiler to produce both steam to drive propellers for forward motion and heat for the balloon.
  11. I bought 3 batches. Batch 1 was x2 skater, x1 cowboy, x1 magician and x1 astronaut Batch 2 was x1 skater, x1 diver, x1 nurse, x1 astronaut Batch 3 was x1 nurse, x2 cheerleader, x1 clown I have no interest in the rest of series 1 (or obtaining a full set) but bring on Series 2 (I need at least 2 surfers and at least 2 skiers plus others)
  12. Don't know which city you are in but I am in Perth and have had zero problems obtaining all the figures I wanted in 3 different lots from 3 different stores.
  13. This may well be similar to the Vestas windmill in that it was produced specifically for Maresk with no plans to sell to the public. (although the last Maresk ship was sold to the public so I could be wrong)

That TRU truck looks nice, as does the mini TRU. Now all I need to do is win Lotto so I can afford the typical TRU rip-off pricing they tend to charge for exclusives (such as Squidman Pitstop, Home One, TS3 garbage truck etc) :) Doubly so if the public transport set is a TRU exclusive too.
  15. Something else I would like to see done is a set with the detail of the Emerald Night but of a typical American style locomotive such as a 4-4-0 or a 4-6-0 (the kind you see Back To The Future 3 or all the old cowboy movies). Done right it would satisfy all the people asking for a "western train" and could feature some cowboys in the passenger car.
  16. Nice to see the 1 x 6 x 3 windscreen now comes in Clear and Red. And the white girder pieces plus the taxi and sticker pieces. Disappointed to see the same boring minifig torsos used again and again (the black vest with blue tie and the red torso with the 3 silver things as well as the same boring torso for the train worker)
  17. Wait, the post by hewman refers to the "Lego Truck" which I take to mean the yellow City truck. Yet your post refers to the TS3 Garbage Truck. Which one is it that's available at TRU and is the yellow "Lego Truck" available anywhere at all yet?
  18. 1.Yes I buy the sets because they are great parts packs (although I wish I had the cash to buy more of them such as the Eiffel Tower) 2.I buy sets for individual appeal 3.I would like to see a landmark from Australia done as a LEGO set. The Sydney Opera House would be GREAT. 4.Either a large Space set of some sort (big and detailed without any "flick fire" items or good/bad guys. Just Astronauts doing what Astronauts do) or a large model of an Airplane, either civilian e.g. Concorde or Boeing 747 or military e.g. F-14 or SR-71 or B2. That or a "cars of the world" theme where models (VW beetle sized or maybe a bit smaller) of well-known cars from around the world are done (different parts of the world getting the car that is most well-known in their part of the world) 5.I wish to see more City models of things that have not been done in City before like a Zoo (which could be sold as a series of different sets, each with an animal and its enclosure (say 2 lions for the lions den or 1 elephant for the elephant house). And the sets could include some info on the animal and where it comes from in the instruction manual. And more "civilian" sets generally as well as more minifig sets (the previous City Minifigure pack was great, now follow it up with another such set please) More sets/parts in the Farm theme would be great, such as a Sheep. Maybe an Shearer impulse with a sheep and some sheep shears. Oh and some "industrial" type sets would be great too (and if done right could be highly detailed without costing a fortune). How about an Octan Oil rig or refinery... I also wish to see more variety in civilian minifig torsos and less use of the same torsos again and again (like the torso with the red jacket with the planet logo on the pocket, the torso with the 3 flowers/starfish on it, the black vest with the blue tie and blue buttons/pockets, the dark blue open jacket with light blue shirt and the dark blue plaid shirt with the red lines on it) Oh and a license for the new TRON movie (About the only license that would be more likely to get me to spend money on LEGO than a TRON license would be a Ghostbusters license)
  19. Here is my set of photos from the 2010 Perth Adult Lego Society train layout. http://picasaweb.google.com.au/jfwfreo/Layout3
  20. damn, no sale on the one SP3 set I might be tempted to buy (the limo)
  21. Nice, looks really good.
  22. Thanks for the advice. I am not in this to make a profit, the people I would be providing this to would simply be paying me what it costs to buy the parts. I definatly agree that ordering parts without firm commitments is a bad idea.

Great MOCs, these ships have given me some ideas for my next spaceship :)
