Love the way the troops stand poised in their crèches like sinister gargoyles.

Thanks! This is by far my favorite way to do lego water. Though next time I'd probably put a border on a build like this. And yeah, that poor guy is gonna lose an arm but maybe not his life! At least! Thanks Gideon! Thanks ME. I did try staggering the plates but it ended up looking weird with such a small sail. If I ever do a bigger longship, I'll either use cloth or brick-build a more dynamic looking sail.

EDIT: Full Pics and Write-up now included. Most Kawashita fleets are furnished with a complement of Starjackers, a specialized light corvette that masquerades as a two-seat cargo barge and acts as a skirmisher unit in sustained engagements. In the ancient days of Earth's naval engagement, this type of ship was known as a Q-ship. The Starjacker's role, as its name may imply, is to use subterfuge to close in with enemy vessels, using the element of surprise to quickly overwhelm ship defenses and deploy small, heavily armed squads of marines for boarding actions. Though seeming like your average pair of rocket jockeys to any scans or ID requests, the Starjackers are actually piloted by veteran bomber aces, used to flying close to large enemy vessels with sophisticated point-defense systems. The second seat belongs to the gunner officer, whose job it is to oversee and deploy the weapons and specialized systems on the ship. The canopy is fighter-style, allowing the flight crew to quickly emerge from the ship if necessary: Here, on the portside of the Starjacker, the mock cargo pods, in this case rigged to resemble fuel canisters, are clearly visible: And here, starboard side, the smooth flank of the ship. Though visible to the eye as standard ant-meteorite armor for a ship this size, the starboard armor is reinforced beneath the visible layer: The visible armor is openly painted in Kawashita Group colors and, typical of our illustrious corporation, hides a handy secret: The "broadside" cannons allow the Starjacker to sidle up to enemy craft on the starboard side, rapidly deploying the cannons and opening fire to disable defenses and punch a hole in targeted ships for the second phase of the strike. Beneath the cannon mounts are layers of additional armor to protect the normally vulnerable section of the ship. The expected compartments of the starboard side will show up on holoscans, but aren't actually present in the ship. It's all armor with very limited additional space, even for a corvette. The rear of this Starjacker features a faux-refueler. The large and complex engine of the Starjacker includes articulated fins that allow rotational, omnidirectional thrust to provide the quick turning necessary for the ship to complete it's strike package without being caught in a slow turn. The engine's housing is also heavily armored, a feature that has been unconvincingly disguised as oversized heatsink coils: Here we see the mounts for the "fuel canisters", which are meant to be hot-swapped between runs just as expected. This feature is modular, allowing a Starjacker to be disguised as other types of corvette or light frigate as needed: In a galaxy far, far away, these canisters resemble escape pods. This is not too far from the mark, as the interior of the canisters are cramped, filled with limited air supplies, and probably incredibly uncomfortable. Kawashita marines don't complain, however. That sour look on Sgt. Galbraith is just his war face. The full complement of Starjacker marines is usually a fireteam of four. These units are specially trained to quickly breach and clear a ship's vulnerable decks. Their hardsuits are equipped with limited EVA capability, allowing them to fight in Zero G if their ship is able to disable artificial gravity in enemy craft: Additional detail shots of the Starjacker's underbelly with retracted landing gear and the sensor-package at the ship's front: Thanks for looking! C&C Welcome!

I love the SNES version too guys, but what the heck was I gonna do for that green hair!?

Always preferred the Yoshitaka Amano concept art to the sprites and redesigns. That's why Terra is blonde, Sabin has a beard, and Cyan's moustache is huge. :D

The cast of Final Fantasy 6 rendered in Lego! Please check out Flickr for individual shots and alternate poses. I may do some alternate figs (flesh for instance) at some point if people like these. I'd also like C&C if you think you have a better piece use or idea to bring these characters to life. I'd also love to see others' versions!

Kawashita takes the comfort of its flight crews and guests pretty seriously. Even frigates and cruisers have fully stocked commissaries staffed by actual humans! The politest, most helpful humans in Andromeda! Let's take a closer look! Uh oh. Koro, a special consultant who works for Kawashita has a delayed order and he is not happy about it! Looks like the consummate professional Ms. Melynchuk will have to quickly look up the ETA and report it to him in order to promote the excellent customer service one can expect in a Kawashita commissary. Even Tim, the youngest crewman onboard this particular ship, is helping out by making a call to the cargo deck to check if Koro's item has been misplaced. Let's hope not, since Koro likes to order only the best exploding death devices, available now at all participating Kawashita outlets! But what's this? Another consultant is trying to get on the public QE (that's Quantum Entanglement, boys and girls! only the best tech for Kawashita!) communication station to make a call, but there's a marine in his way! Well, I'm sorry but our flight crew gets first priority, Mr. Beltar, and you'll just have to wait your turn! Who are you trying to call anyway! Over here in the corridor, a dapper Kawashita executive confidently walks the halls of the ship. Where others might find the constant presence of armed marines intimidating, Mr. Tanaka is happy to see them and knows he is safe under their benevolent watch. Look how friendly they are! Jackbooted thugs? Not on a Kawashita ship! Our marines know that good relations and good etiquette keep a crew happy and less likely to succumb to the Space Madness.

This build is great. Great color, photography, staging, posing, etc. All great. I did not realize we could do alien ships either! My favorite thing about the build is that it shows the companies all thrown in together and cooperating more or less, sort of. I'm a softie.

Definitely one of the best series of sequential story builds that AG has seen thus far. I really love the one with the ancient god hanging from the pillar. Stupendous work there.

Nice idea. Thought it was hydroponics thing at first.

Great use of space in this build!

Oh that's just great! Amazing work here! I was going to do a fighter launch too, but opted against it. Now I'm glad I did because there's no way I could have topped this!

Thanks Danny! Thanks Steve. Something about Bonnie and Koro's relationship just brings out the banter. Yes. Have done a few builds with a lot of white lately. The limitations of white poster board... sigh... will need to invest in some different colored stuff. I'm not patient or skilled enough to 'shop a background. Thanks Umbra!

Took the liberty of making some Starbound minifigs: Individual shots on my Flickr! The hylotl gave me the most trouble as the only 3-eyed minifig head I know of is terrifying looking. Also couldn't figure out a good way to make fish-like fins for the head. Had to custom-draw the Novakid brand with a sharpie marker. Would paint next time. I will probably eventually do these again in higher-tier equipment just for fun.
