Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
BrettBrick replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
The idea of the sack is the postage world wide for books is cheaper and if they are in a sack they get cheaper postage price. If you look at the customs form it will probably state it is books. I found this out last year when my mindstorms set arrived like that from B&N and then a few other parcels from B&N arrived like that too. -

Well you can't buy it in Australia as yet. I got a couple from Chromebricks , a German seller on bricklink with a good postage price. I thunk mine worked out at about $215 each. I ordered a few other things too so postage was spread across the lot. Postage was 35 euro and the sets were 160 euro so 1 is $240 and 2 are $440 making them $220 each. Chromebricks pack really well, it did take 3 weeks to arrive but in excellent double boxed condition. When hey arrive at DJ's they will be $300 so when they do have heir 25% off sale in October they will be $225. So this is still around the same price but you get hem much earlier. That's what I did anyhow. -

Luck I stashed an Olivia's house 3315 behind the atlantis sets as they only had 3 this morning. So I grabbed one at $78 and a few seaside houses at $35. Kmart even though opened 24 hours told me their pricing won't start until midnight. -

Amazon.de German store has the new 8 friends sets for sale. I was able to get them sent to Australia so they should be able to be sent anywhere. Now that's going to be one happy 6yo when she gets the 14 original release sets plus these 8 and the picture frame and 4 poly bags all for her birthday at the end of July. -

I got the extra 10% off but just asked for it. I haven't seen an email at all. They did scan a piece of paper to give it to me. -

Did you read what you quoted? Yes. Just ask and tell them you didn't have printer to print it out. -

Myer a bit empty this morning. Of people not of Lego. Scored a huge Lego bag for spending over $50 on toys. If you ask for 10% off tell them you hit an email but didn't have a printer that should work. Unless you actually did get an email and printed out. -

I think there are conditions on the TRU price match plus 10%. Imagine picking up the RRP$59.95 creator seaside house for $31.50. While kmart has them at $35. I would think they will insist it is in stock and not under their inflated cost price. Hopefully the garage will turn up there too and kmarts $99 becomes $89.10. Mmm must look into their policy terms and conditions. -

Just got home from Target. Put 3 ninjago sets on layby to get price match during the toy sale but guarantee me the sets. The had the great devourer set at $199. The sale has 20% off so it will be $160 which isn't to bad compared to the US price of $119. I did not see R2D2 or most of the sponge on sets. Most of the other sets were there including friends. BigW and Kmart didn't have anything new out. -
We win. The Australian price is AUD$269.95. That's at today's exchange rate about. $275USD, £175GBP, €218EURO. How many of you would buy it at these prices. That puts it at the same price as our pet shop. Pretty sure Australia has the most expensive Leo in the world. Just noticed the New Zealand has it for $299.95NZD which is $235AUD so may even pay to fly some from over the Tasman sea. So you Europeans and Americans stop complaining, and leave that to the Aussies.

Selling sets minus minifigs
BrettBrick replied to AwesomeTaylor's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I feel if you were to sell the sets minus minifigs you would be lucky to get 50%. There are very few sets that would be desirable minus figs for big money. Say a $100 set may contain 4 or 5 figs, if you were to get the figs separate the could be $40 to $70. That leaves the set at $30 to $60 but then the set isn't sealed so there's another 20% off even if you include the box and instructions. That's my thoughts anyhow -

Well that's not good news. I was offered it first a few years ago when chasing down 10196 grand carousel. Then asked for it soon after millennium falcon was released and they had 25% off and they got it from dee why David jones for me. Try calling and speaking to a manager. They have done it. I can't see why they can't do it again. Myer also do a thing here they can mail you stuff for only about $10 Australia wide but you won't hear about that either, you need to ask. On a trip to gold last I found a discounted racing seat for a games console and it was huge. I said to my wife that would cost a bit in excess luggage and my wife said post it, but I knew Australia post max size is 1m and this was much bigger. A salesperson heard us and said myer can send it to you for a fee. I thought they were going to send it for me to pick up at my local store but they sent it Australia post registered for $9.95 and it beat us home. I I'll always remember that for big sets if we are away and score a great deal. -

Go back to David jones. Ask them to check if they can get one from another store. The store I got mine from had at least another one. I did his for millennium falcon last year and it took a week to come in but still got it t the reduced price. Didn't cost any extra to get it either. -
Depends on your country. If importing into NZ you need to pay GST on almost everything. US maybe per state. Australia 10% if over $1000aud including postage costs. So check with local customs website for your ruling. I have never had to pay tax from amazons anywhere and they remove the VAT if your not in their country or region.

Dj's I bought Petshop 10218 $161.97, a couple of small city sets $4.71 and $4.17, A ninjago Lord Garmadon hideout set $71, a LED Lantern $14.95 and some road plates $8.97. They had the Firestation 10197 for $179.40 and there was about 10 of them but I already have that set. I was chatting to the sales assistant who was tring to sign me up for a DJs card to get $100 for free ( how does that work nothing is free ) and she asked if I was worried about the condition of the boxes and I replied I most certainly do. She went on the they had a damaged big set and Lego cant provide a new box for it, would I like it at 60% off. Yes please I said, happened to be a UniMog 8110 for $138 do I bought that too. Myer didnt have to much but I was able to get the new Jabba set at 25% off, and a few Lego books at 40% off, including the Harry potter character guide. -
Minifig Matt I am going to it too. I really have no idea what to expect. I am hoping to score some good sets and pieces some good contacts and some new friends. I have entered the " dirty brickster" game hope to get some insight into Lego fron Ryan McNaught maybe bid on something and have a good time. Found out that on Macquarie street there are 10 Lego artworks to see so we will have to have a walk along there. Hope to meet some people from the forum. Cu there Brett

Try amazon France, Spain or Italy. The prices are good and delivery fast. I bought mine from amazon France and it was delivered in 5 days and in better condition than some parcels delivered within Australia. The Lego picture outer box has 4 boxes inside it which protect it from crushing pretty well. One thing to keep in mind is you'll pay less than $400AUD for an import which is still all in English. When they are available in Australia they will be $699.00 I am happy with mine.
