Really liking the look of this! Criticize it as you may, "Bad Blood" is one of the few pop-culture shoe-Ins that actually makes sense in terms of the story. as far as the vehicles go, they all look amazing - I made a post about them in the 2017 set thread and I'm excited to see them all.

This. Thanks for the concise statement on this issue. I myself am a major Ninjago fan (as I know you are) and that doesn't mean I have to hate it because it's different. For goodness sakes, not even the TV show is going away. As Penkid says, wait until you at least see the film, then criticize.

I agree, which is why I mentioned there's probably more to come... It would be awesome if they went all-out and had villains representing all past waves of Ninjago - snakes working with Nindroids, ghosts, sky pirates, etc would be the ultimate dream

Agree with Just2Good - this kind of reaction was pretty much what I was talking about in my post above. For one, the Wu vs Chicken skit isn't even part of the movie - it was just a promo short to advertise the film. Sure, some of the humor in the film may mirror this short - but it's not like Ninjago's TV show didn't do this in literally every scene with Chen's Chair, Day of the Departed's villain antics, and even the most recent season's slapstick generals. This kind of humor, however, doesn't make the show awful - in fact, it doesn't really detract at all. In addition, based on the description article, the film is all about redeeming Lord Garmadon and bringing him back to the side of good, something that was a major highlight for the TV show's first two seasons. If I didn't think the plot could carry the emotional weight of usual Ninjago before, I do now with that small tidbit. But, if you don't like it, I can't change your opinion. I'm just hoping that you'll see a few more trailers and clips and view this with a more open mind than . you are now. But there's a much bigger legion called "general audiences" who have no clue what Ninjago is and have never seen the TV show and would be very adverse to a big, new franchise movie about a group of characters they have zero investment in and know nothing about. Now this is what we should be discussing, fellas!

Just came here to say something about the unfortunate negativity surrounding this movie. I've been a huge fan of Ninjago since 2011 and strive to purchase most of the theme on launch day when possible. I'm an avid follower of the TV show and love the characters and their designs. That being said, I don't understand the seemingly constant negativity surrounding this movie. I get it - change is scary. But many of the arguments here are comparing these new characters to the characters in the show. There's nothing wrong with their designs and personalities - they're just different from the show, which makes total sense. Kids and parents who didn't watch the show before the movie would be horridly confused if they were in the same continuity. In addition, they had to make the movie as different as possible - recasting the same voice actors or making the ninja look like their TV counterparts would only serve to muddle and confuse viewers. That's why everything looks different - to avoid confusion. You're not being betrayed, LEGO is not taking away the show (The next season after the movie has already been written and is in production), they're just making a new spin on Ninjago. So I implore you - give the Ninjago Movie a chance, at least until a few trailers come out or even until the movie comes out. Only then will you be able to accurately judge this movie.

I actually really like the ninja outfits and especially love Wu and Garmadon - the only things I'm not really digging are the "horde villains." I'm not quite sure why, but they look a bit bland - just generic villains with astronaut dome heads. Maybe I'm spoiled by TLBM, but the lack of interesting and varied enemies is a bit unfortunate. Would have prefered evil ninja, samurai, or even Serpentine to this. Perhaps more is to be revealed, though.

As mentioned in the Ninjago thread, I actually quite like these and the expressions remind me of Alpha Team, something I loved back in the day.

Huh. Not what I was expecting, but I don't get the extreme backlash - they look pretty good to me and I really like the variety. Zane's expression is perfect for what I imagine Zach Woods as a minifigure would be, and I appreciate the stylized expressions and hair. They actually really remind me of the Alpha Team expressions, which may have been what they were going for.

Oh boy, hope that henchman makes it into the Batman Movie third wave - what a delight!

I don't think the split-second Lego Movie cameo will be addressed, as far as the clothes change goes. The suit he wears there could simply be another alternate suit this movie's version of Lloyd had and is unrelated to the TV show gi.

Wait - you're totally right! Ralph Fiennes is right there! Perhaps this plot thread was a late addition post-recording and they had to get a new actor...

Since TLM's third wave had spoiler minifigs from the movie, I can totally see that happening! And it would be great.

Really liking these - can see it as a possible outlet for all those Dimensions licensing deals after Dimensions ends, especially with the mention of favorite tv shows, movies, etc.
