I actually think the yellow bushes give a nice contrast to the rest of the fork. I like them!- 1,124 replies

Have/will the instructions (or even a parts list) for the GBC workshop module been released? I didn't register for a spot on the workshop, figuring that there are others more in need of that, but I'd like, if I can, to bring a bag of bits of my own and make one.

Lego Motorized vs Manual
Captainowie replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That said, it has been on my TODO list for some time to build a GBC module with a hand crank, that the public turn to make (a small portion of) the GBC move. -

Ah, true. I wonder now why I thought otherwise. -

You might find you can get more range (and perhaps less jumping) if you move the pivot point of the throwing arm closer to the weight. That will also allow you to reduce the overall height of the machine. -
The alternate path from the splitter doesn't have to redirect the balls back into the module - you can still keep up the flow rate if you take the alternate stream straight to the output. I don't know what you mean about "starting position", but I think it's worth trying to see if two balls in quick succession break anything when there's already one ball in a bucket. It's such a small modification that you might as well give it a go!

If you space all the pins on the conveyor further apart, you lose some throughput. But if you move every second pair of pins as close as you can to their neighbours, I think that will give you the effect you desire. E.g. instead of this ....|........|........|........|...., do this ....|..|.............|..|....... One way I can see this failing, though, is if one of your pairs of pins only picks up one ball instead of two from the bottom of the belt, and the next pair of pins picks up two balls. Then your top bucket will get its second and third balls in quick succession. However, that might not be an issue if the bucket accelerates slowly from its resting position. Or, you could incorporate some mechanism into the top bucket such that the ball path is blocked off while the bucket is not in position - some barrier that is linked mechanically to the bucket lever.

SR3DBuilder does have those capabilities, but that hasn't had any development done since its author passed away some years ago. I don't even know if you can buy a licence for it (for the advanced features) any more. I did download Linkage (http://blog.rectorsquid.com/linkage-mechanism-designer-and-simulator/), but never got around to using it in anger, so can't offer any thoughts on how good it is. Owen.

Damn, beaten to it. I've had a prototype using that mechanism for months that I have yet to find the time to build into a proper module.- 1,124 replies

Aye, it is that. Oh well, thanks for your help. -

Ok, I'll keep playing around. But just to confirm, you're using 4.0+ and seeing complete instruction pages? Nope, same deal on Wine 4.4 - interestingly, though, I can get the per-step parts lists to appear if I turn the step numbering off! -

How much more recent? I've tried it using version 3.20 that I downloaded through the POL configuration menu, and indeed the -force-d3d9 wasn't necessary to see the brick previews, but I still see incomplete instructions. Incidentally, rendering seems to work fine, so long as I use CPU rather than GPU to do the computation. -

Sorry for bumping an old topic, but I couldn't find anything more recent and relevant. I'm trying to get Studio 2.0 running over PlayOnLinux on Linux Mint 19.1. As well as the missing brick previews, I was also finding that the instruction Page Design area had empty pages. I have added the "-force-d3d9" to the command arguments, which helped somewhat. The brick previews are now there, and I have the bricks in my instructions pages, but the step numbers and parts to be added each step are invisible, and the BOM at the front shows only the element in the top left corner of each page. Is anyone else experiencing this, or have an idea how to fix it? I'm really hoping I don't have to go back to LPub3D for instructions generation! Owen. -
Thanks Bryan. I had a blast in 2015, and I'm looking forward to this year's event! Owen.

Greetings all. I realise that this is something of a longshot, especially given how active this subforum is, but I want to hear from you if you meet the following three criteria: You are attending Brickworld Chicago, June 2019 You have not yet booked accommodation You are willing to share a room with some random guy from Australia I have a double room that I'm only going to use half of, so it makes sense to try to find someone to share with.

Sure there is! http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/4143 It's old and fragile and tricky to integrate, but such integration is certainly possible, and it does have 14 teeth.

Thanks Maico. Do you have the dates for the above events? I suspect that the French event is the only one that I'll be able to attend given my current plans, but all I've been able to find on their websites have been dates for past events. If I can make it to any of these, do you think you could help me arrange to join in the fun? Owen. This is true. And yet, one of the most common questions we get is "Where does it start?" - With one of these things, we now have somewhere to point at.- 1,124 replies

I wonder if anyone ( @Maico ?) could tell me what the GBC calendar is like in Europe in late June/early July? Reason I ask is that it's looking quite likely that I'll be there this year with a suitcase full of GBC and some time on my hands, and it seems a shame to waste the opportunity. Owen.- 1,124 replies

It's not terribly difficult to replace the wire in those cables. See here for example. Owen.
